- CreatorRobia RashidStarsJennifer Jason LeighKeir GilchristBrigette Lundy-PaineSam, an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum, decides it's time to find a girlfriend, which sets Sam's mom on her own life-changing path as her son seeks more independence.A charming and heartfelt coming-of-age series about a teenager with autism experimenting with dating, love and sex for the first time. There are a couple of reused tropes in this series, but the lovable characters make you forget about those pretty easily.
8 - CreatorMåns MårlindHans RosenfeldtBjörn SteinStarsSofia HelinRafael PetterssonSarah BobergWhen a body is found on the bridge between Denmark and Sweden, right on the border, Danish inspector Martin Rohde and Swedish Saga Norén have to share jurisdiction and work together to find the killer. One of the hits of the new Nordic Noir trend, The Bridge is edgy and thrilling, and will often leave the viewers in awe. Sofia Helin's performance is remarkable. It is no wonder the series continues to be remade around the globe.

If you're looking to watch all versions of the series, I recommend watching in this order:
The Bridge (US) - Season 1
The Bridge (US) - Season 2
The Tunnel - Series 2
The Tunnel - Series 3
The Bridge (Original) - Series 2
The Bridge (Original) - Series 3
The Bridge (Original) - Series 4
Each series has the same plotline for season 1, however the US version includes an additional storyline. That's why I recommend starting with the US version, and then continuing from there. You don't need to watch seasons 1 for the other 2 series, because it's nearly shot for shot the same. - CreatorBaran bo OdarJantje FrieseStarsLouis HofmannKaroline EichhornLisa VicariA family saga with a supernatural twist, set in a German town where the disappearance of two young children exposes the relationships among four families. What a brilliant watch! This German series was not only beautifully shot, but so fantastically written, I was blown away by the script. The darkness alluded over the small town so masterfully weaved together between 3 separate stories. I'm tempted to watch it again now with a different perspective. My only suggestion to the writers is that the narration spells things out a bit too often for the viewers, and the characters could be a tad more likable.
9 - CreatorAnna WingerJörg WingerStarsJonas NayMaria SchraderFlorence KasumbaAbandoned by Moscow and desperate for cash, the East German leadership pushes their secret operatives to experiment with global capitalism and save their sinking socialist ship. Long banished to Africa for his sins in 1983, Martin Rauch is now sent back into the field.Follow up to the series "Deutschland 83".
Series premieres in 2018. - CreatorAvi IssacharoffLior RazStarsLior RazItzik CohenNeta GartyThe human stories on both sides of the Israel-Palestine conflict. This Israeli series captures some of the thrills and espionage of American shows like Homeland and 24. The acting is come and go from actor to actor. The writing is decent, but not overly unique. It's definitely an entertaining action series, but could benefit from more originality.
7 - CreatorDave EricksonRobert KirkmanStarsKim DickensFrank DillaneCliff CurtisA Walking Dead spinoff set in Los Angeles, California. Follows two families who must band together to survive the undead apocalypse.Yes, it may not be as heart-pounding or as eloquently written as it's companion series, The Walking Dead. But it's still suspenseful and entertaining enough to continue watching and see if it improves. The writing seems to be on and off. Some episodes are very predictable, while others are totally unpredictable. It's still serious and suspenseful enough to keep me entertained.
7 - CreatorTony AyresLouise FoxStarsPatrick BrammallEmma BoothSean KeenanSeven people return from the dead with no memory and attempt to unveil what brought them to the grave in the first place. While not necessarily as groundbreaking as the French series, The Returned, this Australian series is better than most shows attempting to capture the "dead returning" concept. The characters are interesting with rich backgrounds. My only request is that the writers would take it less safe, and go even weirder.
6 - CreatorSimon DonaldStarsRichard DormerBjörn Hlynur HaraldssonSienna GuilloryPerched on the edge of the Arctic Circle, Fortitude is one of the safest towns on earth. There has never been a violent crime here. Until now.Mystery and a bit of noir that goes in a direction nobody expected. The characters could be a bit more developed, but there's plenty of thrills and confusion that will keep you watching until the climactic end.
7 - CreatorSally WainwrightStarsSarah LancashireSiobhan FinneranJames NortonYorkshire-based crime drama centering on the personal and professional life of Police Sergeant Catherine Cawood.A cop drama with some crazy crimes intertwined with the wild personal life of the protagonist. Sarah Lancashire was made for this role. The middle aged, no-nonsense, tough female police sergeant is what makes Happy Valley a great watch.
8 - CreatorAlex GansaHoward GordonStarsClaire DanesMandy PatinkinDamian LewisA bipolar CIA operative becomes convinced a prisoner of war has been turned by al-Qaeda and is planning to carry out a terrorist attack on American soil.Based on the concept of Israeli drama "Prisoners of War", this series is as addictive and intriguing as they come. This political spy thriller keeps you on the edge of your toes from episode to episode, and Claire Danes' performance is very fun to watch. While some of the plot lines and character development meanders a bit in seasons 2 & 3, it finds it's footing again and becomes just as great as the award winning first season.
9 - CreatorBeau WillimonStarsKevin SpaceyMichel GillRobin WrightA Congressman works with his equally conniving wife to exact revenge on the people who betrayed him. This devious political drama is fill with shock, paranoia, and backstabbing. The performances are stellar, even if the writing verges to the melodramatic. One thing is for sure, it's definitely a more addicting and dark improvement upon the already fantastic original.
7 - StarsKatherine ParkinsonGemma ChanLucy CarlessIn a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a 'Synth'--a highly-developed robotic servant that's so similar to a real human--is transforming the way we live.Based on the Danish series "Real Humans", this series is good, but has room for improvement. The concept isn't very new, but the intrigue and the implementation is well enough to keep you watching. It has good pacing. It's just missing a little edginess.
6 - CreatorSteven KaneHank SteinbergStarsEric DaneAdam BaldwinCharles ParnellThe crew of a naval destroyer is forced to confront the reality of a new existence when a pandemic kills off most of the earth's population.Fists, guns and explosions. This series is action packed, thrilling and fun. There's never a dull moment in this show. It's pure entertaining action, and all as the clock continues to tick towards saving what's left of the world.
6 - CreatorNeil CrossStarsIdris ElbaDermot CrowleyMichael SmileyJohn Luther is a brilliant homicide detective with a knack for getting inside the minds of murderers. Unfortunately, his unconventional methods and personal demons put him at odds with his team.A fantastic cop series, starring the very talented Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson, who have fantastic chemistry. The ruthless actions of not only the villains, but also the protagonist, will keep any viewer shocked and filled with adrenaline. The character dynamics are captivating and the dreadful tension will make you zip through a season in one night.

8 - CreatorHans RosenfeldtNicola LarderStarsAnna FrielRay PanthakiJack DoolanMarcella Backland left the Metropolitan Police for the sake of her family, only to have her husband leave her. She returns to her job on the murder squad, investigating a case that seems disturbingly familiar to her. From the creator of the Bridge, comes his new British crime noir. While some of this series may feel like just a rehash of this new mystery trend, Marcella does succeed with an intriguing story and a somewhat unique twist.
7 - StarsTchéky KaryoAnastasia HilleJames NesbittTony and Emily Hughes' vacation turns into a nightmare when their 5-year-old son Oliver disappears from a large celebrating crowd in Northern France.Yet another anthology series focused on a season-long mystery. This series, rather than focusing on murder, delves into the investigations of missing persons. This story is dreary, and the characters are depressing and desperate. The bouncing back and forth between timelines does tend to get a bit old. However, the writing and acting are still impressive. Season 2 is a head in the right direction. It is addicting and adrenaline pumping.
8 - CreatorSam EsmailStarsRami MalekChristian SlaterCarly ChaikinElliot, a brilliant but unstable cyber-security engineer and vigilante hacker, becomes a key figure in a complex game of global chaos when he and his shadowy allies try to take down the corrupt corporation his company is paid to protect. Now here is a unique show that we've been waiting for! The inner dialogue is fantastic, often stating things that most people in society wouldn't dare say aloud. The constant anxiety and second guessing you will have as a viewer will get you enraptured by this cyberpunk thriller and get you questioning what's reality through some of the artistic mind trips.
10 - CreatorSteven LevitanChristopher LloydStarsEd O'NeillSofía VergaraJulie BowenThree different, but related, families face trials and tribulations in their own uniquely comedic ways.An absolutely endearing comedy that will actually make you envy the dysfunctional hilarity of these modern families, because by the end of the day, they always come back to love each other.
8 - CreatorZal BatmanglijBrit MarlingStarsBrit MarlingJason IsaacsScott WilsonHaving gone missing seven years ago, the previously blind Prairie returns home, now in her twenties with her sight restored. While many believe she is a miracle, others worry that she could be dangerous. For fans of Stranger Things, look no further than The OA. While the story is more of a slow burn, and the series focuses on the majestic beauty of cinematic art, this series will have you hooked on the mythology and have you asking questions from start to finish. But the true beauty of the series is the friendships built between an uncommon group of people brought together.
8 - CreatorKarianne LundJo NesbøErik SkjoldbjærgStarsHenrik MestadAne Dahl TorpEldar SkarIn the near future, Norway is occupied by Russia on behalf of the European Union because the newly-elected environmentally-friendly Norwegian government has stopped the all important oil- and gas-production in the North Sea.The Norwegian political thriller does a lot of things right. It closely resembles tv series "24" with its thrills and paranoia, and is an easy binge-watch. The only suggestion is that the writers should try to be a bit edgier.
8 - StarsNeil Patrick HarrisPatrick WarburtonMalina Pauli WeissmanAfter the loss of their parents in a mysterious fire, the three Baudelaire children face trials and tribulations attempting to uncover dark family secrets.A kooky, creatively dark and twisted, but still fun series based on the children novels. Viewers should be prepared for the peculiar directing style. The sets are absolutely gorgeous, and it is true that the series will entertain all ages. I will say that the performances of the lead children could be better, but thankfully the adult actors are all more than talented.
7 - CreatorMark GatissSteven MoffatStarsBenedict CumberbatchMartin FreemanUna StubbsThe quirky spin on Conan Doyle's iconic sleuth pitches him as a "high-functioning sociopath" in modern-day London. Assisting him in his investigations: Afghanistan War vet John Watson, who's introduced to Holmes by a mutual acquaintance.A story about genius solving impossible crimes, and about geniuses battling geniuses. The viewers are guaranteed to be outsmarted. Sherlock is made to be a fun, mystery solving series, and it is successful. The only thing I can't help wanting is to break through the cold emotions of Sherlock Holmes.
7 - CreatorMatt DufferRoss DufferStarsMillie Bobby BrownFinn WolfhardWinona RyderWhen a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl. There's something magical about this mystery/thriller that resounds similar to 1980's Spielberg films. This series has something for everyone: family fun, horror, and an addictive mystery that could get you through an entire season in a weekend. There are some stellar performances, most notably from Wynona Rider as a desperate mother. While some may criticize the series for having cliches, others will argue that its part of the nostalgia.
8 - CreatorPedro AguileraStarsBianca ComparatoVaneza OliveiraRodolfo ValenteA post-apocalyptic thriller set in near-future Brazil, where a select few are allowed to join a privileged society after undergoing an intense and competitive process.I love that Netflix is expanding their original series to more than just American shows. This series was actually quite good and definitely had me thinking as a viewer. It's a great character study of the human mind and also humanity as a whole. It's a very easy show to binge watch. My hopes for the series as it continues is that the budget gets raised. Seeing it's potential, I could see this post apocalyptic drama go full out into some beautiful and epic territory.
8 - CreatorBaltasar KormákurStarsÓlafur Darri ÓlafssonIlmur KristjánsdóttirBjörn Hlynur HaraldssonIn a remote town in Iceland, police desperately try to solve a crime as a powerful storm descends upon the town.A new edition to the Nordic Noir entertainment, based in Iceland. With well written characters, evenly paced twists, and a series of mysteries that believably all intertwine together make this an impressive thriller.
8 - StarsStephen DillaneClémence PoésyCédric VieiraA prominent French politician is found dead on the border between the U.K. and France, and two agents must work together on behalf of their respective countries to find the murderer.Based on the Danish/Swedish series "The Bridge", this version is just as fantastic as the original. This show is packed with suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat suspense, as well as rich characters. Season 1 is mostly a carbon copy of the original, but season 2 goes in a completely different direction that gives this series a name of its own, rather than just being a remake. It does not disappoint.

The mystery is compelling and the characters are well written. It's not especially unique, but the ending will definitely surprise viewers without a doubt, and will possibly convince them to come back for another season.
7 - CreatorFrank DarabontStarsAndrew LincolnNorman ReedusMelissa McBrideSheriff Deputy Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma to learn the world is in ruins and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive.A grisly post apocalyptic tale with some of the most dynamic characters you will see on tv. This show may be one of the most addicting, horrific, and talked about shows on tv for its guts and gore, but it will be remembered for how enriching the characters are in this game changing series. Side note: if you quit watching after season 2, you owe it to yourself to continue. The writers really picked up their game.
8 - CreatorHagai LeviSarah TreemStarsDominic WestRuth WilsonMaura TierneyA struggling novelist and a young waitress strike up an extramarital relationship that promises to forever change the course of their lives.A gritty reveal on the raw emotions of such complex characters that intertwine when two married people get involved in an affair. While most of these characters can be infuriating at times, one can't help but be fascinated by the way they cling onto their pain.
9 - CreatorSteven LilienElizabeth SarnoffBryan WynbrandtStarsSarah JonesJorge GarciaJonny CoyneIn 1963, all the prisoners and guards mysteriously disappear from Alcatraz. In the present day, they resurface and a secret agency are tasked with re-capturing them.Another show that tries to be the new "Lost" or "Fringe", but fails to captivate. The main characters are flat and uninteresting. The mysteries are dull and drag on far too long for viewers to care. The only plus side is that there are some good action scenes.
5 - CreatorJ.J. AbramsStarsJennifer GarnerRon RifkinCarl LumblySydney Bristow is an international spy recruited out of college, trained for espionage and self-defense.Alias will be remembered, not only for empowering its female lead, but for bringing espionage television where it is today, most definitely inspired by "La Femme Nikita". You'll fall in love with the characters, especially the lead. The storylines are engrossing and addicting. It's fun, it's suspenseful, and it's dramatic. It may be over the top at times, but that's exactly what the writers wanted. Sydney Bristow is the female Bond. It SHOULD be over the top. The mythology of the series may be a bit messy, but it also adds to the heart and soul of a great tale. The series meanders a bit in season 4 when ABC network interferes with the writing, but it manages to pick back up for its final season.
9 - StarsCaterina ScorsoneAndrew Lee PottsMatt FrewerEverything you know about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is about to be turned upside down in this modern-day mini-series. The cast includes Kathy Bates, Caterina Scorsone, Matt Frewer, Harry Dean Stanton, and Tim Curry.Could not have been a bigger waste. Horrible writing, acting, CGI. Just all around boring.
3 - StarsHope DavisScott CohenMargarita LevievaA rookie CIA analyst doesn't know that members of his family are part of a Russian sleeper cell.Nothing new to this series. The performances and stories were just fine. Mildly entertaining, but rather unoriginal.
6 - CreatorJ.H. WymanStarsKarl UrbanMichael EalyMinka KellyIn a not-so-distant future, a human cop and an android partner team up to serve and protect. The premise and pilot episode were rather intriguing, but by episode 2 you can tell that this series is going to go the old crime procedural route. The plot never really advances. The characters don't become any more dynamic. It's just a regular cop show, but set in the future.
5 - CreatorJohn RidleyStarsFelicity HuffmanRegina KingTimothy HuttonSeasonal anthology series. Season 1: The lives of the participants in a trial with significant racial motives are forever changed during the legal process.I am so impressed that ABC took on such a riveting, slow burn drama such as this. Never have I seen a Network series that makes its viewers face the reality of racism, sexism, homophobia, prejudice, and religion. The characters in this anthology series are realistic and broken, even if at times they may be unlikable. But it's no doubt that the actors are downright phenomenal.
10 - CreatorScott AlexanderLarry KaraszewskiSarah BurgessStarsSarah PaulsonAnnaleigh AshfordSterling K. BrownAn anthology series centered around America's most notorious crimes and criminals.A pleasant surprise. This nonfiction anthology series differs from it's sister series, American Horror Story, in all the right ways. It's gritty, it's shocking, and it will make you relive one of the most eventful stories in American history. The writers didn't miss a step, when referencing all of the puzzle pieces of this major trial that people may have forgotten about, without overdoing any of the pop culture references.
10 - StarsMaeve DermodyCharles DanceToby StephensTen strangers are invited to an island by a mysterious host, and start to get killed one by one. Could one of them be the killer? An accurate storytelling of the masterpiece novel by Agatha Christie. The performances were spot on. There was plenty of intrigue. Production almost seemed a bit rushed. It could have benefited from more unique cinematography. Overall, a decent miniseries.
7 - CreatorJoseph WeisbergStarsKeri RussellMatthew RhysKeidrich SellatiAt the height of the Cold War, two Russian agents pose as the average American couple, complete with family. Finally, a dark and serious spy drama. Cut out all of the silliness and over-the-top twists of most spy dramas, and you are left with The Americans. This 80's period piece may be slow burn, but the suspense and intrigue will often make you wonder how much of this was actually going on possibly in your own backyard.
9 - CreatorLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsJames Arnold TaylorJulia FletcherDwight SchultzA collection of nine short films featuring stories related to The Matrix (1999).A fascinating route to give viewers an even deeper look into the world of "The Matrix". The stories are dreadfully dark, but at the same time beautiful. Not going to appeal to many viewers outside of big fans of the franchise.
7 - StarsMartin ClunesArsher AliCharles EdwardsSir Arthur Conan Doyle recaptures his zest for life by pursuing and challenging a notorious miscarriage of justice.A simple murder mystery in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes". Nothing very original. Not bad, but easily forgettable.
6 - CreatorAdrian CruzPhilip LevensStarsTricia HelferGil BellowsBrian Van HoltA young woman's murder causes the subjects of a century-long mission to populate a new world to question the true nature of the project as they approach the point of no return.A murder mystery in space with a big twist. While the concept was fun, and the twist was shocking, the implementation was poor. The CGI was quite awful, the plot threads were weak and focused on the wrong things. And by the end, you can tell that this was not meant to be a miniseries, but a continuing series.
5 - StarsJodie WhittakerPaul RhysHarriet WalterCIA counter-intelligence officer Sandy Grimes works to save Soviet intelligence officers from being exposed by a mole inside her organization. An interesting background into the true story of a turned CIA analyst. The miniseries delves into the fascinating downward spiral of events from beginning to end. We not only get to see how said analyst goes from being a man working for his country to a traitor, and also the investigations into the manhunt.
7 - CreatorKyle KillenStarsJason IsaacsLaura AllenSteve HarrisAfter a car accident takes the life of a family member, a police detective lives two alternating parallel lives, one with his wife and one with his son. Is one of his "realities" merely a dream?Another crime procedural that adds cinematic flare and a bit of hypnotic surrealism. Unfortunately, this series never grabbed the attention of the general public, but the standalone season still works fine as an ambiguous and emotional drama. The middle of the series meanders a bit, but it starts off with a bang and ends with a bang!
7 - CreatorAnthony CiprianoCarlton CuseKerry EhrinStarsVera FarmigaFreddie HighmoreMax ThieriotA contemporary prequel to Psycho, giving a portrayal of how Norman Bates' psyche unravels through his teenage years, and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.Dramatic, dark, and maybe a bit predictable and over the top. No one can deny that Bates Motel is fun to watch. This follow up prequel to the critically acclaimed novel/film "Psycho" tells the tale of the downfall of Norman Bates and his family. The constant mayhem in White Pine Bay may take away from the shock of Norman Bates' mental breakdown. Needless to say, this show should be on your list, specifically to watch the wild performance of Vera Farmiga.
8 - CreatorAlfonso CuarónMark FriedmanStarsJake McLaughlinJohnny SequoyahJamie ChungA relationship forms between a gifted young girl and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power.Promising pilot episode that ends up repeating itself for episodes 2-13. It is up to Blue Submarine No. 6 and the rest of the Blue fleet to put an end to Zorndyke's madness and creations. An anime with a heartfelt message. This miniseries warns humanity of the consequences of creation and power and also the price to pay when we don't accept things that are different.

Based on the original Danish/Swedish series of the same name, this version takes advantage of the current issues on both sides of the border of the US and Mexico. The characters are easy to like and mix well together. The storylines are rich. Season 2 drags a bit in the middle, but ends on a high note with closure.

7 - StarsBen WhishawMaxine PeakeBill PatersonDrama series following people accused of crimes and their journey through the British Criminal Justice System.Rich, emotional characters in a dark, broken world. In his search for the truth, he will have to cross moral and legal lines as he navigates the highest levels of power and corruption.A poor man's conspiracy thriller. The characters are whiny and melodramatic. The plotline is convoluted. The graphics are cheap. It seems like a ridiculous copy of FOX series "24" plus a completely unnecessary teen drama story thread.

There's conspiracies galore. The ending might have been a bit underwhelming, but I still found this miniseries to be worth the watch.
7 - CreatorTony GoldwynRichard LaGraveneseStarsDamon GuptonMarin IrelandJoe AndersonA district attorney uncovers new evidence that prompts the reinvestigation of a sensational murder case.A decent political thriller that never stood a chance. While, at times, this series may have tread a bit into the melodramatic, it still found its footing with its murder mystery and political agenda. Unfortunately, it was broadcast on a channel that has never aired a single tv series, and the ratings never stood a chance.

The short episodes also make this series a very quick binge.

It's tropes and concepts have been used before. That's not to say that the series doesn't have things it does well. The gritty, black and white French series is fast paced and beautiful to watch.

The characters will have you on the ground, laughing at how similar this family dysfunction is to your own. And the performances are as real as can be. No awkward pauses in between lines. It's a well done comedy.
9 - CreatorAllan CubittStarsGillian AndersonJamie DornanJohn LynchA seemingly cold but very passionate policewoman goes head to head with a seemingly passionate father who is in fact a cold serial killer in this procedural out of Belfast. The only thing they share is their common complexity.A grim tale on the hunt for a serial killer. What makes this stand out from other similar shows is that we also get to see the POV of the killer, which unfortunately then takes away from the mystery. This show is fascinating, as you go into the mind of a serial killer, and also the detective obsessed with finding him. The only downside is that the series tends to drag after the first season.

Along their way, they meet monsters, phantoms and two airship captains, one a bumbling yet ambitious man and the other a sexy pirate leader.A typical formulaic anime miniseries. It's a bit cheesy, yes. And it gives off the impression that it was done cheap and quick. But it's fine for what it is. And Final Fantasy fans will still enjoy.
5 - StarsChris ScottSamantha ClarkSamantha Inoue HarteTwo siblings try to find their missing parents. Based on the best selling video game series by Square Enix.A bit too repetitive for my tastes. This anime might have a splash of colorful backgrounds, and the character development is rich, but the action sequences tend to drag when you know exactly what's going to happen in every episode. And the sudden cancellation of the series leaves the show on quite a cliffhanger.

Sure it was short lived, but the characters managed to become likable quite quickly, and the follow up film "Serenity" gave the series great closure. Was the series ultimately deep or profound? No. But it was better than alot of scifi shows out there.

Sure this series will give you heart palpitations from the dread and excitement, and there are some creative bits of violence and gore, but that won't make up for the god-awful writing. It can be addicting if you can shrug off the characters making awful choices time and time again.

It's still good. The performances are impressive. The cinematography is beautiful. The writing is, of course, good because it was the writing from Broadchurch. But there wasn't any originality here or building upon the greatness of the original. Do yourself a favor and just watch Broadchurch and skip this miniseries.

The main protagonists are on opposite sides of the spectrum. They're either totally unlikable and downright annoying, or you just completely pity them for the struggles that they constantly endure. I fail to find any redeeming factors for the series. My only reason to continue watching is for the hope that the sympathetic characters get some kind of win in the end.

It's still a decent watch. But don't expect anything more than what a normal SYFY series would provide.
