Mark Scout’s heading back to work! Yes, two years and a couple of SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike-related delays since we last saw him on our screens, Adam Scott’s everyman office worker is getting ready to return to Lumon Industries in Severance Season 2. And, during a project-packed Apple TV Plus presentation at their Wwdc event, the streaming giant shared a tantalising first look — finally! — at what awaits in the second season of Dan Erickson’s off-kilter workplace thriller. Check it out below:
Set in a world where ‘work-life balance’ consists of a surgical procedure that severs employees’ memories of their work and private lives, their ‘innies’ and ‘outies’, the first season of Severance climaxed (Spoiler Warning!) with Mark (Scott) and his Macro-Data Refinement division colleagues — Dylan (Zach Cherry), Helly (Britt Lower), and Irving (John Turturro) — regaining control of their outside selves. In these first glimpses at Season 2 however, it...

The Tim Burton and Johnny Depp collaborations are certainly prolific. While Depp was a teen star on the Fox series 21 Jump Street, he had a weird creative force inside of him that a high school cop series didn’t fulfill. Then came a new movie called Edward Scissorhands that paired Depp with his long-time director friend. Deadline reports that Depp is being featured in a new docu-series that’s a retrospective on the career of Tim Burton, and the actor reveals who he beat out for the part of Edward.
According to People, Depp said the competition was stiff for the titular character and names like Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and even the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, were being considered for the role. Depp explained that Cruise “was not far away from actually playing Edward Scissorhands — true story.” Depp admitted to thinking, “He’s never going to cast...

Apple TV+ is offering extended severance.
The hit science-fiction series “Severance” debuted its first image from the second season at the tech giant’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino, California. It featured the show’s lead, Adam Scott, in an eerie white hallway holding some cerulean balloons, wearing an ID badge, and looking determined.
Production on the second season ended in April. The precise launch date hasn’t been announced, but since further glimpses were included in a “Coming to Apple TV+” video, one can expect it sometime this year.
“Severance” was created by Dan Erickson, and its first season was directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle. The show satirizes business culture with a process (called severance!) in which employees have their minds and memories effectively bisected, such that they can’t remember their home life while at work or their work life while at home. Complications ensue!

Apple TV has had a string of successes with its television series recently, and 2022’s hit Severance is one of the most talked-about series from the platform’s library. The sci-fi series became an absolute hit, earning numerous awards and nominations. Of course, a second season of the series was ordered quickly, and we can happily confirm that the second season will premiere later this year; an exact date has not been revealed, but a release window is also fine at this point. The series is going to continue from the enigmatic ending of the first season, explaining what is going to happen to the main characters after the shocking truths and revelations from Season 1.
In light of that, we can confirm that Apple has released some initial materials from the season on social media, so we can confirm that we have a first-look photo, as well as a first-look teaser trailer.

Netflix‘s Man on Fire is ready to turn up the heat with Yahya Abdul-Matten II as its lead. In addition to his starring role, Abdul-Mateen II is an executive producer of the project, with Steven Caple Jr. directing the first two episodes. A.J. Quinnell’s first two novels, “Man on Fire” and “The Perfect Kill,” inspired the episodic adaptation focusing on French Foreign Legion soldier John Creasy.
Denzel Washington played John W. Creasy in the Tony Scott-directed feature adaptation Man on Fire. Christopher Walken, Dakota Fanning, Radha Mitchell, and Marc Anthony round out the primary cast. The plot focuses on a former CIA operative who swears vengeance on those who committed an unspeakable act against the family he was hired to protect.

We’re getting a look at some of the first footage for Season 2 of both Severance and Silo. It was released today at the 2024 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference as part of a “Coming to Apple TV+” teaser video.
The video opens with the return of Adam Scott’s Mark Scout to Lumen Industries. Director and executive producer Ben Stiller took to Instagram in January to confirm that the Apple TV+ drama series had returned to production after a months-long delay due to the Hollywood strikes.
From creator and writer Dan Erickson and Stiller, Severance stars Scott as Mark Scout, who leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. David Bowie is a familiar name in the music and cinematic world, whose music led him to become among the greatest artists in history. Apart from music, his acting talent was second to none, working on both the small and big screen. However, many would be surprised to know that the actor was quite close to playing a James Bond villain.
David Bowie in The Prestige (2006) | Buena Vista Pictures Distribution
Associating with the Bond franchise is undoubtedly a huge deal, and Bowie’s impact could have further elevated its magic. However, things turned out differently due to Roger Moore.
David Bowie Almost Played a James Bond Villain
Who would have thought that the legendary musician David Bowie would have been playing a James Bond villain? But the fact is cent percent true as the English singer was initially attached to play the role of maniac Max Zorin in 1985’s A View to a Kill.

Before director Denis Villeneuve and production designer Patrice Vermette put their talents to work, "Dune" and "Dune: Part Two" were in danger of being a tad visually monotonous. With the first film in particular, there's only so much you can do aesthetically with a movie that takes place entirely on an arid, desert planet. Still, we did get a look at the Atreides' native planet of Caladan at the top of "Dune," which provided a nice counterpoint to the sepia hues that dominated the rest of the film. For the sequel however, Villeneuve not only ratcheted up the action, but gave us even more of a visual feast.
While "Dune: Part Two" was still somewhat of a bleak blockbuster, most of the gloominess came from the film's finale, in which Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) embraces his ascension to the Emperor's...

Despite a cast that includes “The Office” co-creator Stephan Merchant, potential new Bond Claes Bang, and national treasure Christopher Walken, crime comedy “The Outlaws” has largely flown under the radar since debuting on Amazon in 2022. But now “Baby Reindeer” has alerted the rest of the world to the talents of Jessica Gunning, its third season, premiering May 31, should both attract a deservedly bigger audience and continue its regular scene-stealer’s meteoric rise.

Created by Stephen Merchant and Elgin James, the first two seasons of The Outlaws delivered a perfect balance of humor and drama, and the performances were top-notch. And while season 3 is not the strongest of the lot, the characters are entertaining enough to spend a few hours with. A group of misfits from different walks of life were brought together by community service. The characters had engaged in minor offenses, and as a form of compensation, they were assigned community service. But instead of their lives getting any easier, they found themselves drawn into bigger trouble. Sooner than expected, these small-time offenders were dealing with notorious drug lords and the threat to their lives escalated. While the characters were starkly different from each other, they were united by one common factor—they were all in one way or another at the lowest points of their lives. They could relate to each other’s struggles,...

While most people probably think primarily of his strange cadence and his big hair, it's important to remember that Christopher Walken is a damn great actor (see his brief but memorable turn in "Dune: Part Two" as a recent reminder). Sure, Walken has achieved a sort of "living meme" status at this point in his career, but when he's on, he's on, and he's bound to turn in a killer performance. While his "Saturday Night Live" appearances have proven Walken is skilled at comedy, there's something inherently sinister about the actor, which means he's played a lot of villains throughout his career. He's one of our best movie bad guys. Think his cameo as a ruthless mobster in "True Romance," his turn as Donald Trump stand-in Max Shreck in "Batman Returns," and of course, one of his very best performances: drug lord Frank White in Abel Ferrara's nihilistic "King of New York.

The 80s and 90s were a great time for character actors. Guys like Gene Hackman, Brian Dennehy, Christopher Walken, John Lithgow, Morgan Freeman and many others occupied this really interesting place where they could lead their own movies and be just as comfortable playing supporting roles – whether large or small – in bigger films without worrying about things legit movie stars have to, such as bankability. Of that era, one of the biggest character actors was no doubt the fast-talking James Woods. In the eighties, his star rose thanks to movies like Videodrome, Salvador, True Believer and many others. While he never became a legit box office superstar, he was in that niche place where he could lead his own movies, such as the underrated Best Seller, while also playing plum supporting roles in movies like Chaplin, The Specialist and Casino. He was noted as one of the town’s biggest scene-stealers,...

Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" movies are truly the definition of "star-studded." Bleak though "Dune: Part Two" may be, the sequel in particular is packed with big-name actors, from stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya to Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Javier Bardem. Villeneuve even managed to coax Christopher Walken out of a four-year acting hiatus for his follow-up to 2021's "Dune." All of which amounted to a set that must have been intimidating for even seasoned actors.
Take Dave Bautista, for example. When shooting "Dune: Part Two," the wrestler-turned-actor was particularly intimidated by "Elvis" star Austin Butler, before being surprised at how warm and supportive he was. Even Butler himself admitted to being unnerved by the scale of the production, revealing in a behind-the-scenes clip that he was nervous about the shoot and that arriving on set felt like "the first day of school."

This Dune: Part Two article contains spoilers.
For most casual fans and hardcore spice addicts alike, Dune: Part Two is a triumph. Not only did Denis Villeneuve get to complete his visionary adaptation of the first Frank Herbert Dune novel (phew!) but he was also able to infuse his cinematic trip to Arrakis with modern sensibilities. For longtime fans, Dune: Part Two is not the most faithful filmed version of the first book, but it’s much closer to the text than the 1984 version and feels bigger and grander than the (more faithful) 2000 miniseries version. To put it simply, Dune: Part Two, combined with Part One, is (probably) the best-filmed version of Dune we’re likely to ever get. Fidelity to a book is never entirely possible with adaptations, nor is it necessarily desirable. As Villeneuve told Den of Geek back in 2021: “When you adapt it’s an act of vandalism.

Every time a TV show comes to an end, it's a good time to look back at the story and see what could have been done better. In many cases, the finale comes a few seasons too late, as the writers try to salvage the story and keep viewers interested, but fall flat at every other attempt.
There aren't many shows that have the guts to make a decision and leave in their prime, but every time it happens, viewers should make sure to watch it as a reminder of how real talent cares about not having their work messed with. From what it looks like, The Outlaws is now going to join this list.

Stephen Merchant has revealed he has no plans for further episodes of The Outlaws after the incoming series three: more details here.
Stephen Merchant took the British comedy scene by storm in 2001 when he wrote and directed The Office with Ricky Gervais. He went on to forge a successful solo career, from stand up tour Hello Ladies and the American sitcom of the same name to his successful pivot into hour long crime comedy with The Outlaws, which returns for its third series next week.
Created by Merchant and Elgin James, the show follows a disparate group of people assigned to community service for various reasons which gradually reveal themselves.

He said there are no plans to make more Outlaws as it currently stands and he is instead preparing for a stand-up comedy tour and working on developing film scripts, along with exec producing Greg Daniels’ upcoming The Office spin-off.

From The Office sidekick to standup legend and a serial killer, the multitalented Stephen Merchant is impossible to pin down. He talks about cancel culture, why pubs are more interesting than outer space and hanging out with Christopher Walken
Stephen Merchant has always been obsessed by the idea of the ordinary man “thrust into extraordinary circumstance”. Since he was a kid in Bristol, the son of a plumber and a nursery nurse, those were the kinds of films he sought out and the stories he wrote, about normal people who experience something that “jolts them out of their life and gives them a way of reframing it”. He’s talking to me from his office in Nichols Canyon, LA, in a house once owned by Ellen DeGeneres, where he lives with his partner of seven years, actor Mircea Monroe. Ascended rock deity David Bowie appeared on TV and in movies as early as 1968, only shortly after the release of his first record. His first leading performance came in 1972 with the release of Nicolas Roeg's sci-fi satire "The Man Who Fell to Earth," a film about an alien who comes to Earth and becomes distracted by drugs, TV, and other unhealthy creature comforts. Bowie later played himself in Uli Edel's harrowing 1981 J.D. flick "Christiane F.," in addition to starring in the smoky vampire film "The Hunger" and terse Pow drama "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence." A younger generation fell in love with Bowie because of 1986's puppet film "Labyrinth," while he was cleverly cast as Pontius Pilate in Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ."
In 1993, when director Renny Harlin was preparing to make his mountainside actioner and Sylvester Stallone vehicle "Cliffhanger," he very much wanted Bowie to play the film's villain.

What’s your favorite Pulp Fiction scene? There are so, so many to choose from, but did you know the most complicated (and expensive) scene to shoot was one of the movie’s most celebrated, non-violent moments? Indeed, today we break down the iconic Jack Rabbit Slim’s scene from Quentin Tarantino’s smash 1994 hit- Pulp Fiction. The film follows multiple characters that are seemingly unrelated as their paths intertwine in various ways. At the center of the film is Vincent Vega (John Travolta)- a hitman and enforcer for a local crime boss. Vincent is asked by his employer to take his wife out on the town so she doesn’t get lonely while he’s away on business. Enter Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) as the gorgeous and somewhat mysterious wife.
What ensues is a platonic date that feels like a nice break from the film’s otherwise violent and gritty tone.

Dune: Part Two has been available to purchase on Digital services for almost a month now, but Warner Bros. has finally announced a streaming date for Denis Villeneuve's critically-acclaimed sci-fi sequel.
Fans will get to return to Arrakis from the comfort of their couches very soon, as Dune: Part Two is set to premiere on Max next Tuesday, May 21.
Although the movie didn't reach $1 billion as some predicted (always a long shot in the current box office climate), it did pass $700 million worldwide, meaning a third film based on Frank Herbert's second novel, Dune: Messiah, is likely.
Part Three hasn't been officially greenllt, but is believed to be in the early stages of development - though there's no guarantee that Villeneuve will to return to complete the trilogy.
“If we go back, it needs to be real, it needs to be relevant," the filmmaker told Empire in a recent interview.

Ed Harris — recently seen starring alongside Kristen Stewart in “Love Lies Bleeding” — is getting back behind the camera to direct his own adaptation of Kim Zupan’s acclaimed novel “The Ploughmen.” Owen Teague, currently playing the lead in “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” Nick Nolte and Bill Murray have come on board to star in the neo-noir crime thriller, which will go into production in Montana this Fall. Amy Madigan and Lily Harris are also set for the film.
“The Ploughmen” will mark Harris’ third feature as director after his Western “Appaloosa” and multi-Oscar nominated “Pollock.” Described being in the vein of “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River,” the film is set in the wilderness of Montana, where a strange friendship develops between a haunted young deputy sheriff and a notorious old murderer. John Gload (Nolte) is a killer so adept at his job that only now has he been apprehended.
