Who is the best male TV star of all time? Our photo gallery above takes on the tough task of ranking the 50 greatest actors and performers. Agree or disagree with our choices?
With over 70 years of television to consider, we had to provide ourselves with a few rules to help simplify things. One of those was that every man in our gallery must have been an ongoing leading star at some point, preferably more often than not. That’s why you will not see such classic supporting actors as Art Carney, Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Peter Dinklage and more. We also do not include any news/sports anchors or journalists such as Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, Peter Jennings, Howard Cosell since they are not performers.
In order to place them in the rankings, we were looking at a combination of quality (top rated shows with the public or critics...

Rick and Morty has amassed a strong fan following, particularly among the millennials. However, many would be surprised to know that the sci-fi adult animated show shares a notable connection with Christopher Lloyd’s Back to The Future series. The movie follows an eccentric older man and a teenager who embark on a time-traveling adventure with the help of their hi-tech vehicle.

The Simpsons has come under repeated scrutiny for its voice cast, particularly the various races and cultures they are representing. The most damning attacks have been at Hank Azaria, who voiced Kwik-e-Mart owner Apu Nahasapeemapetilon up until 2020. But Harry Shearer had to step away from one of the show’s most beloved supporting characters – Dr. Julius Hibbert – as well once showrunners decided that no white people would be voicing people of color. And he doesn’t seem too happy with how that has turned out.
Speaking with The Times, Harry Shearer said that people are adamant that The Simpsons is too PC anymore considering all of the casting changes. “Folk say the show has become woke in recent years and one of my characters has been affected. I voiced the black physician, Dr Hibbert, who I based on Bill Cosby. Back then he was known as the ‘whitest black man on television.

Harry Shearer voices many characters on The Simpsons and was recently replaced as the voice of Dr. Hibbert.
In 2020, producers decided to have no longer white actors voice characters of color, a decision which also made Hank Azaria retire from voicing Apu Nahasapeemapetilon.
Shearer recently reflected on the change and who inspired Dr. Hibbert’s voice.
“Folk say the show has become woke in recent years and one of my characters has been affected,” Shearer said on The Times of London. “I voiced the Black physician, Dr. Hibbert, who I based on Bill Cosby. On April 25, the day that Harvey Weinstein’s New York sexual assault conviction was overturned, those who had been most vocal in the months following the former mogul’s implosion in 2017 were conspicuously silent. The X account of Time’s Up, the organization that raised $26 million in the wake of the Weinstein accusations, appeared to be a relic frozen in time. Its last post, from January 2022, was a retweet of a Movement for Black Lives missive about Martin Luther King Jr. Likewise, actresses who had embraced Time’s Up’s mission offered no commentary. Jessica Chastain was tweeting about her skin care routine, while Reese Witherspoon was gushing about a Tennessee Titans draft pick. It was as though Hollywood had already moved on from the industrywide reckoning that Weinstein’s downfall sparked.

We all know he’s guilty — even the New York appeals court majority that ordered a new trial for Harvey Weinstein knows it. That makes the narrow, 4-3 reversal of Weinstein’s conviction all the more enraging.
Anyone who has ever watched a cop show knows how difficult it is to get a conviction in a sexual assault case. Yet the court majority found that the trial judge made an “egregious” mistake in letting three women testify about alleged sexual assaults even though their claims were not part of the charges against Weinstein (known as “Molineux witnesses”). Without that testimony, the majority concluded that Weinstein might have walked.
Dissenting Judge Anthony Cannataro wrote that the decision was “endangering decades of progress in this incredibly complex and nuanced area of law.” What message does the New York appeals court ruling send? In a new trial, the women whose testimony achieved the...

On Thursday, New York’s highest court overturned Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction, which has left those who had testified against the former movie mogul left to prepare for a potential retrial.
The court’s decision hinged on the finding that the trial judge had unfairly allowed testimony based on allegations that were not part of the case against Weinstein. The verdict reopened a painful chapter in America’s collective perspective of sexual misconduct by influential individuals, a movement that gained momentum in 2017 with a deluge of allegations against Weinstein. This manifested in the global survivor-led movement against sexual violence – #MeToo.
Advocates of the #MeToo movement emphasized that the ruling was based on legal technicalities and did not absolve Weinstein’s behavior. They asserted that the original trial had undeniably shifted societal attitudes towards sexual assault. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office expressed its intention to retry Weinstein, while one of his accusers,...

Lauren Sivan had barely opened her eyes Thursday morning when she got the news Harvey Weinstein’s landmark #MeToo-era conviction in Manhattan had been overturned by New York’s top court. The former New York TV news reporter – one of more than 100 women who say Weinstein sexually harassed or assaulted them during his decades-long career as a top Hollywood gatekeeper – knew the divided decision was a possibility. The judges who issued the ruling had appeared unsettled during an appeals court hearing in February. Still, she needed time to process everything at her home in California.

Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer called the disgraced producer’s overturned convictions a “great day for America” and said that Weinstein intends to take the witness stand once the charges are inevitably re-tried.
“Harvey Weinstein did not get a fair trial,” Arthur Aidala, one of Weinstein’s attorneys, told press outside Manhattan’s Criminal Courts building on Thursday. “It may sound like exaggeration but it’s not: Today’s legal ruling is a great day for America because it instills in us the faith that there is a justice system.”
He continued, alluding to Donald Trump’s ongoing hush money trial in New York: “Whether it’s a former president of the United States or the most-storied Hollywood producer of our generation, the law applies to everyone.”
Aidala added that should Weinstein be re-tried in New York, Weinstein will be itching to take the witness stand. “He’s been dying to...

There are massive developments in the Harvey Weinstein Trial, and you may not like the outcome. As per reports, the New York Appeals Court has overturned a guilty conviction in connection to a 2020 rape case. The case, which was considered very crucial and was the landmark for many other cases of sexual assault in the MeToo movement, has been overturned. Netizens and activists are disappointed.
Ruling in favor of the disgraced producer, the Court’s 4-3 decision said. “We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,” They continued, “The remedy for these egregious errors is a new trial.”

The New York Court of Appeals has overturned Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction in a narrow 4-3 decision. As reported by The Associated Press, the court found that the trial judge made numerous improper rulings, including a decision to allow women to testify about allegations not relevant to the case, and concluded that a new trial is warranted.
“We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,” the decision read. “The remedy for these egregious errors is a new trial.”
The majority ruling added, “It is an abuse of judicial discretion to permit untested allegations of nothing more than bad behavior that destroys a defendant’s character but sheds no light on their credibility as related to the criminal charges lodged against them.”

(Updated with statement from Weinstein spokesperson & Silence Breakers) New York’s highest court on Thursday overturned Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 conviction on felony sex crime charges, ordering a new trial. However, that doesn’t mean the Pulp Fiction producer will be stepping out of prison any time soon.
In a 4-3 ruling (read it below), the New York Court of Appeals flipped Weinstein’s conviction, stating the judge in charge of the trial “erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes.”
“Defendant was convicted by a jury for various sexual crimes against three named complainants and, on appeal, claims that he was judged, not on the conduct for which he was indicted, but on irrelevant, prejudicial, and untested allegations of prior bad acts,” Judge Jenny Rivera wrote in the Appeals Court ruling of the verdict against Weinstein and his subsequent...

Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction has been overturned by the New York Court of Appeals.
On Thursday, the court found in a 4-3 ruling that the judge in Weinstein’s trial — a landmark moment in the #MeToo movement that the 2017 allegations against him started — had shown prejudice by allowing women to testify about allegations that were not part of the case. The court has now ordered a new trial.
Weinstein, the Oscar-winning producer of “Shakespeare in Love” and “Good Will Hunting,” is serving a 23-year sentence at the Mohawk Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison in Rome, N.Y. He will remain imprisoned as he was also convicted of rape in Los Angeles in 2022 and sentenced to an additional 16 years in prison. However, Weinstein was acquitted in the Los Angeles trial on charges involving a woman who testified in his New York case.
Weinstein spokesperson Juda Engelmayer said in a statement: “We’re cautiously excited.

Twenty years in, Kenan Thompson is the longest serving cast member on Saturday Night Live, but he likely owes part of his success on the show to his early work on another sketch comedy series, Nickelodeon’s All That, which premiered thirty years ago today on April 16th 1994.
Created as a Saturday Night Live for kids by Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins, All That consisted of comedy sketches performed by a cast of kids, alongside performances from some of the biggest musical acts of the day.
As it happened. Thompson—then fresh off his screen debut in D2: The Mighty Ducks—was the very first person All That viewers saw onscreen in a cold open:
Much like his SNL career, Thompson’s time on All That was marked by a large number of characters including Pierre Escargot, Superdude, and a Bill Cosby impression that he’d later bring to SNL.

Dr. Julius Hibbert first appeared on "The Simpsons" in the episode "Bart the Daredevil". In that particular episode, Bart (Nancy Cartwright) was toying with the idea of being an Evel Knieval-type stunt performer, aiming to leap over Springfield Gorge on a skateboard. As a warning, Bart was taken to see Dr. Hibbert who took the boy to a special wing of Springfield hospital. In it were nothing but children who had injured themselves after imitating stunts they saw on TV. "I won't even subject you to the horrors of our Three Stooges ward," Dr. Hibbert gravely intones.
From 1990 through 2021, Dr. Hibbert was played by Harry Shearer. When viewers became sensitive to how many white actors have played animated Black characters throughout the history of animation, Shearer stepped aside and Kevin Michael Richardson took over the role.

When you think of the great directors in cinema history – Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, etc. – chances are the first films that come to mind are Goodfellas, Jaws and Vertigo. But every brilliant filmmaker has their duds. Now, Rolling Stone – you know, the publication that doesn’t think Roseanne and Bill Cosby had historic shows just because of their wrongdoings – has put out a list of the 50 worst movies by some of the most renowned directors…And yes, they have missed the mark considerably.
In the list, titled “50 Terrible Movies by Great Directors”, there are plenty of bottom-barrel films, those that are absolutely anomalies in otherwise remarkable careers. We wouldn’t argue that man-child family comedy Jack (#1) isn’t Francis Ford Coppola’s worst movie or that Rob Reiner’s North (#2) wasn’t worthy of Roger Ebert’s famed “hated, hated, hated, hated, hated” review. Embattled director Roman Polanski has been sued in a lawsuit accusing him of drugging and raping a minor in 1973.
The filing of the complaint comes as a trial in France kicks off over allegations that he defamed British actress Charlotte Lewis, who he accused of disseminating a “heinous lie” after she claimed that he sexually assaulted her in the 1980s. Polanski has been a fugitive from prosecution in the United States since the 1970s.
The lawsuit was filed by an unidentified plaintiff last year in Los Angeles Superior Court, but it was not allowed to disclose Polanski as the defendant. Gloria Allred, who represents the woman, said that the court recently permitted her to file an amended complaint naming Polanski.

The Oscars are one of the most prestigious events in the field of cinema and few award ceremonies hold the level of honor that the Academy Awards. The ceremony ends the coveted awards season and has been the aim for many of the greatest films of the year. However, the biggest awards show has been tainted by several events that occurred during the ceremony.
While events such as Envelope Gate and Will Smith slapping Chris Rock were moments of embarrassment for the Academy, one particular decision made by the organizers and Hollywood, in general, can be called the ceremony’s most disgusting moment. The decision in question is when Roman Polanksi, a fugitive on the run for s*xually assaulting a minor was awarded the Best Director Oscar for The Pianist.

After eight years of Democratic leadership, North Carolina’s next governor could be a guy with a long history of shitposting on Facebook.
Mark Robinson, the winner of the state’s Republican primary for governor on Tuesday, has served as North Carolina’s lieutenant governor since 2021. He shot into the national spotlight in part by devoting himself to Donald Trump and making a slew of incendiary, deeply bigoted comments. Trump has endorsed Robinson for the state’s top job, and even called him “Martin Luther King on steroids” at a recent campaign event.

Janice Burgess, the two-time Daytime Emmy winner who created the beloved animated musical series The Backyardigans for Nickelodeon, has died. She was 72.
Burgess died Saturday in hospice care in Manhattan of breast cancer, her former Nickelodeon colleague Brown Johnson told The New York Times.
The Backyardigans ran for four seasons on Nick Jr. from 2004-13 and was a big hit with preschoolers. It centered on five animal neighbors — Uniqua, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha and Austin — who meet in their shared backyard and embark on imaginary and magical adventures, often visiting different parts of the world or traveling back or forward in time.
Burgess was a production executive at Nick Jr. when she came up with the idea for a live-action show called Me and My Friends, with the characters wearing full-body puppet costumes. When execs didn’t go for that, she suggested computer animation to get The Backyardigans greenlighted.

Up until 2014, the public at large didn't know about the extent of sexual crimes committed by comedian and TV star Bill Cosby. Since 2014, over 60 women have come forward with allegations of sexual assault, some of which stretch back to the 1960s. The many, many details of Cosby's assaults, cover-ups, and other crimes have been openly detailed in the news, and in the 2022 documentary series "We Need to Talk About Cosby."
Cosby's crimes make discussions of the hit series "The Cosby Show" a little fraught. Because the stories of sexual assault hadn't been made public yet, Cosby was easily accepted by mainstream sitcom viewers as a kindly, father-like figure: a perfectly put-upon patriarch of a modern, wealthy Black family. "The Cosby Show" was instantly successful and widely beloved when it debuted in 1984, and it lasted eight seasons and 201 episodes. Everyone watched it. Update, 8:30 Pm: After a very brief turn in Charles Manson’s old prison, Danny Masterson has another new home behind bars.
Serving out the opening months of a 30-year sentence, the convicted rapist has been moved to the cushier digs of California’s Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo. Unlike the harsher conditions and even harsher residents at the Golden State’s high security Corcoran State Prison, where the Helter Skelter leader spent his last two decades before dying in late 2017, the Men’s Colony is a medium and minimum-security facility.
Concerns for “the inmate’s well-being” begot the 47-year-old That 70s Show actor’s move in the last week or so, according to a law enforcement source. In custody since being found guilty on May 31, 2023 of two rapes in his second trial and held in Dtla and then North Kern State Prison, Masterson was moved to Corcoran...

Kate Snow, the NBC News veteran who has anchored the network’s Sunday broadcast of “NBC Nightly News” since 2015, plans to exit the post next week, she disclosed to viewers of the program Sunday evening, citing growing responsibilities tied to streaming content.
The move may be a sign that her presence is needed elsewhere. Snow, who is also a senior national correspondent for NBC News, has since September of 2022 co-anchored parts of “NBC News Daily,” a set of daytime hours that both stream on NBC News Now and appear in the daytime schedules of all NBC affiliates. NBC News has placed increasing emphasis on reaching viewers with streaming content, and has continued to expand the original programming it offers in that venue. Those duties, plus those that have Snow reporting on stories during the week for “Today” and the weekday broadcasts of “NBC Nightly News,” have begun to add up.

Rapper Kanye West has once again name-dropped Taylor Swift in a new song on his and Ty Dolla $ign’s album ‘Vultures 1’. The rapper mentions Swift in the album’s 12th track, titled ‘Carnival’, reports Variety. West also compares himself to controversial figures such as R Kelly and Bill Cosby, who have both been convicted of sexual assault, as well as Puff Daddy, who was accused of sexual assault in multiple lawsuits last year.
As per Variety, Swift and West’s tumultuous relationship started when he crashed her 2009 Video Music Awards acceptance speech and declared that Beyonce “had one of the best videos of all time.” In 2016, West released his song “Famous,” which featured the line: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? If there’s a holy grail of awards opening monologues, it’s Judd Apatow’s at the DGA Awards.
In typical fashion, the filmmaker who is known for his killer Bill Cosby impersonation, took the mic for the fifth time to host the DGA Awards — with the opening monologue cut off to the press room. Don’t ask why that is in a post Trump era political environment.
Apatow won over the room with his jokes about how hasty the DGA came to an agreement with the AMPTP, M&As and how Byron Allen could be the ultimate buyer of all media companies, and SAG-AFTRA president as “the voice of reason” during the swamps of the strike.

In early January, comedian Katt Williams went on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast and took aim at Cedric the Entertainer for stealing “my very best joke.” The bit in question — which involved a pantomime of driving with music blasting — was first performed by Katt in a 1998 appearance on ComicView, then reproduced by Cedric (according to Katt) for his set in Spike Lee’s The Original Kings of Comedy. Cedric called the accusations “revisionist history” on Instagram.

Just one year after HBO’s “Succession” broke new ground as the first drama series to ever receive four male guest acting Emmy nominations at once, the same network’s “The Last of Us” has matched the impressive feat. It’s a shame Don’t Suck doesn’t take its own advice [comic rimshot]. Sorry, are you not a fan of plucking low-hanging fruit? Don’t expect anything more from Rj Collins’ soulless vampire standup horror comedy that tries to manufacture edginess with faceplant jokes about Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, and Jeffrey Epstein in the first however many minutes. The only laughter you’ll hear throughout this dreadfully unfunny exercise are the crowd reactions added in post-production, since audiences might as well be rooms full of crickets with material this flat.
Just when you thought Matt Rife couldn’t bomb any harder than his first Netflix special, the viral TikTok celebrity plays a Hungarian vampire named Ethan (“My grandmother was Elizabeth Báthory” yadda yadda) who wants to be a standup comedian.
