Ever since we first learned the title of Rian Johnson's next Knives Out mystery, Wake Up Dead Man, we've had a sneaking suspicion that Benoit Blanc's latest outing might be an altogether much darker affair than his last, 2022's sun soaked murder-mystery Glass Onion. And if our first look at Daniel Craig's southern sleuther in the upcoming threequel is anything to go by, then we may just be right. Taking to Twitter earlier today to commemorate his first day of shooting on the film, writer-director Johnson shared a brooding black-and-white shot of Craig's Blanc suited up, hair down, and holding onto a new hat. Check it out below;
It's certainly not giving Benoit Blanc in his stripy swimming costume living it up on a billionaire's private island now, is it? Sporting long hair, a dapper three-piece suit, and a decidedly forlorn expression, it looks like Blanc means business this third time around.

Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc is looking dapper as hell in this new look at "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery," Rian Johnson's latest murder mystery that continues the adventures of the private detective after "Knives Out" and "Glass Onion." The topline instant takeaway is obviously that Blanc has much longer hair than he's had in the previous two films, and that new look could potentially signal a new attitude or maybe even a whole new worldview for this character. Could a shaggier-haired Blanc be a bit more laid back and bohemian this time around? Perhaps he's been hanging out with his pal Derol from "Glass Onion" in between movies and taken some life lessons from the amiable slacker.

It’s day one of filming on Rian Johnson’s next Knives Out mystery, Wake Up Dead Man, and the filmmaker has shared a photo of Daniel Craig to prove it.
Daniel Craig is both a good actor and a good wearer of suits. As a reminder, Rian Johnson has shared a photo from the set of Wake Up Dead Man, showing Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc looking dapper in his latest bit of tailoring.
It also looks as though Johnson’s latest Knives Out murder mystery will see Craig sport a rather different hairstyle: longer, cleanly parted, like a blonde Brett Anderson out of 1990s indie rock outfit, Suede.
The photo commemorates the first day of shooting on Wake Up Dead Man, which now features a huge ensemble cast that would put your typical Marvel film to shame. In here you’ll find (deep breath) Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny,...

Writer/director Rian Johnson has taken to social media to let us all know that filming has officially begun on his new film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery – which, as you can glean from the title, is indeed the latest installment in the series of murder mysteries that Johnson began with Knives Out in 2019 and continued with Glass Onion (pictured above) in 2022. At the heart of these films is private investigator Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig – and Johnson went ahead and shared a black and white image of Craig on set and in costume, bringing Benoit Blanc back to life on the first day of filming Wake Up Dead Man:

When the original Knives Out movie was released by Lionsgate in 2019, the whodunnit starring Daniel Craig as the southern P.E. Benoit Blanc was either doomed to fail or become a smashing success. The latter happened, as the ensemble cast full of big names made Knives Out one of the best films of the year. A sequel, Glass Onion, was released to critical acclaim, although with an obvious change in tone, and we have recently reported that a third movie, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, was in the works, with Daniel Craig reprising his role.
As of today, we can finally confirm that the filming for the movie has officially started, and we have also been blessed with a first-look set photo of Craig’s Benoit Blanc, which indicates a significant change in tone and appearance for the character, who is much more unkempt now. This might...

The series of murder mysteries that began with the 2019 film Knives Out and continued with the 2022 film Glass Onion is set to keep on going with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which has writer/director Rian Johnson back at the helm. Johnson and his collaborators are being very secretive about this project right now, but there’s a lot of hype for it – so we figured this would be a good time to start assembling a list of Everything We Know About Wake Up Dead Man. Here we go:
Title
Johnson got the title Knives Out from a Radiohead song. When it came time to make the sequel Glass Onion, he got the title from a song by The Beatles. So it’s only fitting that the third film in the franchise have a song-inspired title as well. But while Radiohead and The Beatles were from England,...

George P. Cosmatos' 1993 Western "Tombstone" begins in the year 1879 and ends in 1881 at the infamous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Said gunfight was a notably bloody shootout between the local law enforcers of Tombstone, Arizona and a local gang of criminals nicknamed the Cowboys. The law was represented by the Earp brothers Wyatt, Virgil, and James, and they have gone down as important figures in the history of the American West.
In the movie, Wyatt Earp is played by Kurt Russell, and the old lawman is depicted as a formerly violent man trying to eschew his instincts to shoot others. Wyatt hopes to be peaceful and gentle and live quietly with his common-law wife Sadie (Dana Delaney). Spoiler alert: he's not successful. Indeed, the violence is so brazenly inevitable in Westerns, one wonders why anyone even entertains the thought of giving peace a chance. The potential gunshot victims in...

Yesterday was the final Spider-Monday, with Spider-Man: No Way Home swinging back into theaters as part of Columbia Pictures' 100th anniversary celebrations.
The movie, originally released in 2021, brought together Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield for what proved to be arguably the McU's most spectacular team-up to date (it was also the best use of the Multiverse we've seen in this Saga).
Opening in 466 theaters across North America, it earned $475,000 yesterday, making it the highest-grossing instalment of the Holland-led Spider-Man trilogy during these weekly re-releases. Three years ago, it grossed over $1.9 billion at the worldwide box office by the end of its run.
Here's how the movies compare based on their respective "Spider-Mondays" from highest to lowest grossing:
1. Spider-Man 2 - $809,000
2. Spider-Man 3 - $760,000

The history of Hollywood adapting video games in movies and TV shows has been a little spotty, to say the least, but in recent years, I think the tide has been turning. With shows like The Last of Us and Fallout, video game fans have developed a little hope to see their favorite adapted into a great piece of art and while there will still be wasted efforts like Netflix’s The Witcher and Paramount+’s Halo, they are still only two shows. So, in keeping with that spirit of hope we created a list of the 10 best TV shows that were adapted from video games, they can be original stories in the world of video games but they have to be connected to the original IP.

Kevin Costner confirmed in a new GQ magazine cover story that reports claiming he spent $20 million of his own money to co-finance his new Western epic “Horizon: An American Saga” are not true, as he actually contributed more than that from his personal bank account.

Costner funded “Horizon: An American Saga” alongside two investors who he has not yet publicly named. The Western saga spans four movies, two of which were shot back to back. Costner recently world premiered the three-hour first movie at the Cannes Film Festival to mixed reviews. Warner Bros. is releasing the first two installments in theaters this summer. Kevin Costner got candid about partly self-financing his new movie, “Horizon: An American Saga,” at a Cannes Film Festival press conference on Monday.
Costner put much of his own fortune into making the $100 million-plus film, including mortgaging his ranch. He directs and stars in the film, which he also produced and co-wrote.
When asked about his struggle to finance the film, Costner said, “I don’t know why it was so hard.”
“You saw the movie. I don’t know why it was so hard to get people to believe in the movie that I wanted to make,” he continued. “You know, I don’t think my movie is better than anybody else’s movie, but I don’t think anybody else’s movie is better than mine. I don’t go out into the world with something I don’t think is good.”

Such a good moment, not just for me, but for the actors that came with me, for people who believed in me who continued to work. It’s a funny business, and I’m so glad I found it. There’s no place like here. I’ll never forget this — either will my children.”

“I want to give the fans what they want, just not the way they think they want it,” declares “Twisted Metal” co-creator and showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith about all of the pressures and expectations that are inherent in adapting a beloved video game. For our recent webchat he adds, “It’s a tough challenge, especially with the video game community, who are extremely outspoken. I made jokes before the show came out that I hope I don’t get doxxed,” he laughs. “The one benefit of ‘Twisted Metal,’ being a fan of the games, is that they always changed every iteration, like no two iterations were the same, so that kind of gave us a license, so to speak, to change it up a little bit, and that’s how I approached it. We have these characters Sweet Tooth, John Doe and Calypso. How would these characters exist in this...

Amidst all the drama surrounding Kevin Costner and Yellowstone, one name that’s often thrown around is Costner’s passion project, Horizon. Fans are not happy about this two-part Western Saga, especially after how the Yellowstone finale is currently playing out, but it’s too soon to judge this project harshly. Costner has proven himself capable of handling a Western project as a director and actor with his 1990 Oscar-winning film Dances With Wolves.

Interestingly, the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves actor was so confident in his project that he was unwilling to change a thing about it despite three directors rejecting it. It paid off heavily as the film became the fourth highest-grossing film of 1990 along with its seven Oscar wins.

Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man franchise was the advent of superhero movies of the current generation. It has been exactly 17 years since the third movie in the trilogy was released, which was the conclusion of a story beloved by many. While the second installment in the trilogy is considered the best, the third one, unfortunately, did not receive similar treatment either from critics or the audience. Screenwriter Alvin Sargent was the man behind the script for the third movie, and he had a pretty good idea on how to move forward.
Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man
Spider-Man 3 ended up being a mixture of too many plots and too many characters. From Harry Osborne to Sandman to Venom, the movie had too many villains and too little time to deal with them properly. This is why Sargent thought of splitting the story into two parts – Spider-Man 3 & 4 – and tell...

Spider-Man 3 became the latest movie featuring the web-slinger to return to theaters yesterday evening. Sony Pictures' "Spider-Mondays" are part of the studio's 100th-anniversary celebrations, giving fans the chance to experience Spidey's adventures on the big screen either again or for the first time.
While Spider-Man 3 is typically considered the worst of Sam Raimi's trilogy, it swung to an impressive $760,000 at the U.S. box office yesterday in just 466 venues.
To compare, Spider-Man opened to $680,000 in 466 U.S. theaters two weeks ago and the classic Spider-Man 2 made $805,000 in 467 of them. The sequel taking the top spot isn't a surprise, but Spider-Man 3 clearly has more fans than we realised.
The movie had the biggest per theater average with $1,600, beating even new releases.
Spider-Man 3 was originally released in 2007 and starred Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, alongside Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, James Franco as Harry Osborn/New Goblin,...

When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's approach to the multiverse on the big screen, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is the only movie that realizes the potential of franchise crossovers between the old guard of Marvel movies and the interconnected films of Kevin Feige's Marvel Studios. That's right, not even "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" properly delivered on the promise of a multiverse truly full of madness, opting instead for hollow fan service, even though director Sam Raimi had fun tearing all those alternate Marvel superheroes apart at the hands of the Scarlet Witch. Instead, it was the meeting of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire as the various big screen Spider-Men that delivered a mostly satisfying spin through the wallcrawlers' weaving webs.

The next live-action Spider-Man film is said to be shooting in September, and there’s another rumour that Sam Raimi is going to direct it.
Following a report earlier this week that Marvel and Sony’s sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home is to begin filming this September, along comes a new rumour that Sam Raimi is stepping in as director. If true, it’d be a popular choice given that he made such a successful – even genre-defining – Spider-Man trilogy of his own from 2002 onwards.
The latest whisper comes to us via World of Reel, which reports that Raimi is “in contention” to direct the upcoming film, with the other directors in the running said to be Marvel regular Jon Favreau, and John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein – directors of last year’s cheerfully entertaining fantasy Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.

While some fans weren’t impressed, many others were totally blown away by how the story unfolded. Filmmaker Sam Raimi’s added touch of the horror genre was also applauded by many. Sam Raimi, the legendary brains behind the original Spider-Man film series from the 2000s, is hoping yet again to return to work with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This comes after a statement from the mastermind himself addressing the rumors of him being the top choice to helm the upcoming highly anticipated MCU movie, Avengers: Secret Wars.

While the MCU may now be satisfying the hunger of comic book fans with every major superhero and supervillain making an appearance in the MCU, there’s a certain charm to the films in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy which makes them unforgettable.

The next time you hear someone complain that they sure don’t make them like they used to, point them in the direction of “Accidental Texan,” an unapologetically old-fashioned feel-good dramedy that, with a few minor tweaks, could pass as a newly rediscovered family-friendly feature from the mid-1970s. Back then, the lead roles probably would have been filled by the likes of, say, Brian Keith and Kurt Russell. Here, Thomas Haden Church (“Sideways”) and Rudy Pankow (Netflix’s “Outer Banks”) do the honors, and they’re at the top of their game, along with supporting players Bruce Dern and Carrie-Anne Moss. Undemandingly entertaining, director Mark Bristol’s well-crafted indie can be savored as a heaping helping of palate-cleansing sherbet, best enjoyed between viewings of bigger and louder but by no means better movies. And yes, that’s meant as a compliment.

Alexander Payne movies always do well in two areas come the Oscar nominations: writing and acting. Five of Payne’s movies have been nominated for writing while five of his flicks have also snagged acting bids. However, while “Sideways” and “The Descendants” both took home Oscars for their writing (both for Best Adapted Screenplay), no Payne movie has ever won for acting. Here’s the record.
“About Schmidt” procured a Best Actor nomination in 2003 for Jack Nicholson. He was in a two-horse race for the Best Actor gong with “Gangs of New York” star Daniel Day-Lewis but it was Adrien Brody (“The Pianist”) who ended up winning by splitting the votes. Kathy Bates was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for “About Schmidt” but she lost to Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Chicago”).
Paul Giamatti was cruelly snubbed for a Best Actor bid for “Sideways” in 2005 but two of his costars were nominated.

Thomas Haden Church has re-ignited the rumour mill by implying that he might return for a potential Spider-Man 4. More on the story below.
Spider-Man fans have been feasting lately. Not only did we have a pretty solid trilogy of films with Tom Holland’s webslinger, we also had the brilliant Spider-Verse films, one of which is currently nominated for an Oscar.
