A Melrose Place revival is coming soon and many people are wondering who might return from the original series. Apparently, Jack Wagner hasn’t written off returning to the beloved soap opera. He opened up about making an appearance in the drama recently. Here is what he had to say.

The Story: A goofball gym teacher (Mark Harmon) is forced to teach a remedial English class over the summer.
The Players: Starring: Mark Harmon, Kirstie Alley, Dean Cameron, Courtney Thorne-Smith & Shawnee Smith. Music by Danny Elfman. Directed by Carl Reiner.
The History: Hollywood spent a couple of years trying to make Mark Harmon happen as a movie star. Fresh off an arc on “St. Elsewhere” which infamously had his character contract AIDS from a one-night stand, his career was red hot. For a while, he was seriously considered to replace Don Johnson on “Miami Vice” after contract negotiations fell through, and in 1987-88, we got a bunch of starring vehicles that would try him out in a variety of genres to see if one would stick. He did action in The Presidio (even doing his own stunts – although the film was stolen by co-star Sean Connery), drama in Stealing Home,...

The key to understanding Conan O’Brien’s comedy is knowing that it comes from a point of kindness. Yes, I know in this age of comics punching down, this kind of compliment may leave you with a neon “Must Avoid!” sign flashing in your bleary eyes — but stay with me.
Here is an example. Early in the first episode of his new, four-episode Max travel show “Conan O’Brien Must Go,” Conan — who has earned the right to be referred to by his first name. See: Carson, Johnny — travels to Oslo, Norway. There, he pops in on Jarle, a Norwegian waif of a rapper that Conan had originally met on a segment of his “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast. In the podcast video, Jarle’s hair was combed and he seemed coherent. Then Conan surprises him. Jarle comes to the door, and he’s maybe 110 pounds in a long sleeve T-shirt,...

In the early 90s, producer Aaron Spelling and TV creator Darren Star struck primetime drama gold with the high school soap opera Beverly Hills 90210. The show laid the groundwork for some good old-fashioned scheduled viewing for homes waiting to see what kinds of trouble the kids at West Beverly would get into. While the series would get to put its characters in some compromising situations like Brandon’s gambling, Brenda‘s pregnancy scare, Dylan’s drug use or Donna Martin graduating, Spelling would explore more steamy stories with the spin-off Melrose Place. The show would crossover stars as Beverly’s Dylan and Kelly befriended Melrose resident Jake. And when Heather Locklear was added to the cast, the show’s popularity would skyrocket.

A revival of ’90s hit “Melrose Place” is in the works at CBS Studios, with original stars Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton set to return, TheWrap has learned.
The Darren Star-created night-time soap followed the complicated lives of several 20-somethings who lived in a Los Angeles apartment complex called Melrose Place, where the drama included a bombing, a drowning and a “Dynasty”-esque pool fight.
Locklear played advertising exec Amanda Woodward, whose addition to the show late in the first season helped boost ratings at the time. Zuniga played Jo Reynolds on the series from 1992 to 1999 while Leighton played Sydney Andrews, sister of Josie Bassett’s character Jane.
Lauren Gussis of “Dexter” and “Insatiable” fame is set to write and executive produce the revival, which would see the “Og residents” returning when one of their friends die. Per the logline, the reunion “uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances,...

Apparently TV can’t get enough “Melrose Place.” The campy sudser from the 1990s, which was already rebooted once in the 2010s, is looking to make another comeback — and this time with three of the Og stars. Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton and Daphne Zuniga are all back to reprise their roles in the latest reboot, this time from writer Lauren Gussis.
Gussis will also exec produce with Leighton, Zuniga, Tiffany Grant and Jason Weinberg. Here’s the logline: “When one of their dearest friends dies suddenly, the Og residents of Melrose Place gather to honor the deceased. But the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”
CBS Studios is behind the reboot, based on the series created by Darren Star.

Melrose Place was one of the most popular Primetime soaps from the 1990s. Now, several Melrose Place cast members are getting back together for a reunion, including the man who helped launch the show to success.
Here is who is reuniting, where it will be, and how you can see them later in 2024.
Cast Returning For Melrose Place Reunion
Melrose Place was a spinoff from Beverly Hills, 90210, and started when Grant Show’s Jake Hanson made an appearance on 90210 as a backdoor pilot, luring Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) to Melrose Place to see him again – which is how the pilot took place.
Fans met the colorful characters who lived at Melrose Place, including Dr. Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro) and his wife Jane Mancini (Josie Bissett). Andrew Shue played writer Billy Campbell, Courtney Thorne-Smith played Alison Parker, and Doug Savant played gay social worker Matt Fielding. Darren Starr's primetime soap opera "Melrose Place" debuted on July 8, 1992, initially sold as a spinoff of the ultra-hot "Beverly Hills 90210." The series followed the denizens of the titular apartment complex, said to be located at 4616 Melrose in West Hollywood, California. "Melrose Place" was a massive success and was replete with all the sex, angst, and topical interpersonal drama that typically appeared in a TV series produced by Aaron Spelling. The show lasted seven seasons and 226 episodes. "Melrose Place" birthed a spinoff in 1995 called "Models, Inc." and was revived (with a new cast of characters) for an additional season in 2009.
On "Melrose Place," actor and professional soccer player Andrew Shue played Billy Campbell, an aspiring screenwriter, cab driver, ad executive, or newspaperman, depending on what season you're watching. Billy had romantic dalliances and/or married multiple "Melrose" characters, most notably Alison (Courtney Thorne-Smith), but also Amanda (Heather Locklear), Brooke (Kristen Davis), who died tragically,...

Four original Ally McBeal cast members, star Calista Flockhart as well as Greg Germann, Peter MacNicol and Gil Bellows, reunited Monday night during the Emmy broadcast on Fox more than 26 years after the debut of the legal dramedy, which aired on the network for five seasons, from September 1997 to May 2002.
The bit started with Flockhart washing her hands in a replica of the show’s famous unisex bathroom.
“I knew I drank too much water; I had to take my Spanx off, I had to put my dress back on,” Flockhart is heard “thinking” in a voiceover before she takes a look in the mirror and tells herself, “Girl, you look good.”
That is when there is a series of three toilet flushes, each followed by an Ally McBeal cast member, MacNicol, Bellows and Germann, coming out of a bathroom stall.

A fresh-faced comedian walks through New York after having woken up and feeding his fish. He's got a nearly beatific smile on his face as he's wished good luck and almost instantly told by those same people (with sarcastic tones) that there's no pressure, because he's been chosen to replace one of the most beloved comedians to ever grace the small screen. He's tall, lanky, with a shock of red hair, and he's just barely reached the age of 30. Everyone from John Tesh to Tom Brokaw to passers-by give him some version of these remarks ("Ya better be as good as Letterman!"), and he takes them all in good stride. He walks into 30 Rockefeller Center, gets ready for his first TV hosting gig, taking over the "Late Night" show on NBC at 12:35 am. He walks into his dressing room, where he proceeds to attempt hanging himself. It's only when...

A new iteration of the beloved TV show “Ally McBeal” is said to be in the works.
The new series will be a sequel rather than a reboot and will focus on a young Black woman who joins the law firm from the original “Ally McBeal” after she graduates from law school, according to Deadline. The lead character will reportedly be the daughter of McBeal’s one-time roommate, D.A. roommate Renée Raddick (Lisa Nicole Carson).
As for Ally McBeal herself, Calista Flockhart, her involvement in the project is currently unclear. Per Deadline, “Flockhart has been approached to reprise her title role from the original in some capacity and to executive-produce the followup.” However, the outlet added that “a decision on her potential involvement likely won’t be made until a script has been written.”
This isn’t the first time talks of Flockhart returning to TV as McBeal have made headlines.

ABC might take viewers back to the world of Ally McBeal.
Almost 18 months after it was first reported that a revival of sorts could be in the works, Deadline revealed that a sequel series is in development.
According to the outlet, the project would be written and executive produced by Karin Gist, and would follow a young Black woman who joins the law firm from the original Fox drama.

Calista Flockhart, who headlined the original series, has reportedly been approached to appear and executive produce.
David E. Kelly, who created and executive produced the original series is said to have given his blessing for the new project.
Kelley previously opened up about the prospect of a revival or reboot.

‘Ally McBeal’ Sequel With New Lead In Works At ABC From Karin Gist; Calista Flockhart Eyed To Return

The Melrose Place that premiered 30 years ago, on July 8, 1992, is likely not the Melrose Place you remember. Initially, Fox’s first Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff — which focused on the young, attractive residents of the titular West Hollywood apartment complex — played it safe with episodic storylines that neatly resolved at the end of each hour. “We were just eight nice kids trying to make it, and nobody cared,” original cast member Courtney Thorne-Smith (Allison Parker) told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. But then, toward the end of Season 1, came Heather Locklear (Amanda Woodward) and soapy storylines aplenty: murder, blackmail, bombings, kidnappings, double identities, and one memorable wig. “I’m not sure you would call Melrose Place some of my finest hours,” TV mega-producer Aaron Spelling, one of the masterminds behind Melrose Place, told Rolling Stone in 1994. “But I’d have to say that they’re definitely some of my most fun hours.

It’s an endless summer of fun when C. Thomas Howell and Peter Horton hit the beach at Malibu in this high-spirited tribute to the California lifestyle.
The sizzling sands of Malibu set the scene as Monroe meets a beautiful marine biologist and is recruited to play California’s hottest new sport, professional volleyball. Soon he’s competing against the big boys (played by pro-circuit stars Sinjin Smith and Randy Stoklos). One of the most memorable riffs by comic Norm Macdonald was his classic rips at Melrose Place star Courtney Thorne-Smith’s choice of films on a 1997 edition of Late Night With Conan O’Brien.
Macdonald took off on Thorne-Smith’s then-upcoming film with Carrot Top, Chairman of the Board.
“If it’s got Carrot Top in it, do you know what a good name for it would be? Box Office Poison,” Macdonald said, drawing a huge laugh from the crowd. He later topped himself: “I bet the ‘Board’ is spelled ‘bored.’”
Thorne relived those moments on Friday as a guest on an episode of Inside Conan: An Important Hollywood Podcast, which is hosted by former Conan writers Mike Sweeney and Jessie Gaskell. The moment on the couch was revived when Macdonald unexpectedly passed away in September, circulating on social media as fans sought comfort in his talents for their loss.

Norm Macdonald, who passed away Tuesday at age 61, is being remembered for his sharp wit and sharper tongue. Watch these brilliant moments of comedy from his career.
The comedian was best known for his work on “Saturday Night Live,” which paid tribute to him on Tuesday as “one of the most impactful comedic voices of his or any other generation. There are so many things that we’ll miss about Norm — from his unflinching integrity to his generosity to his consistent ability to surprise. But most of all he was just plain funny. No one was funny like Norm.”
Here, we look back at some of his most side-splitting moments on screen.
Burt Reynolds aka Turd Ferguson on “Saturday Night Live”
While best known for anchoring “Weekend Update,” Macdonald found himself in other “Saturday Night Live” sketches. For the recurring “Celebrity Jeopardy” sketch beginning in 1996, Macdonald channel a hat-wearing, gum-smacking Burt Reynolds.

One of the final roles of Norm Macdonald, who died Tuesday at the age of 61, was voicing Lieutenant Yaphit, a recurring character on Seth MacFarlane’s hourlong space odyssey The Orville. Macdonald played Yaphit, the gelatinous, shapeshifting engineer on the Orville, in the first two seasons of the Fox series, and sources tell Deadline he’s also in the upcoming third season, which is set to stream on Hulu.
Behind-the-scenes photos from Season 3, which wrapped production in August, featured a model of Yaphit being wheeled to the set and prepped for action (you can see them below).
Before that, Macdonald guest-starred on MacFarlane’s hit animated series Family Guy.

Below, Variety has gathered some of Macdonald’s most iconic bits.

Of all his masterful comedy work on stage and on the big screen, Norm Macdonald was perhaps at his best during a 1997 appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
The comic-actor, who died Monday at 61 after a secret battle with cancer, had everyone in hysterics while a guest on O’Brien’s show along with Melrose Place star Courtney Thorne-Smith.

A new iteration of Ally McBeal may be headed to the small screen.
Ideas about a possible revival of the legal comedy-drama series, which became a pop culture phenomenon, are being bounced around 20th TV, which would produce, sources tell Deadline. Original series creator David E. Kelley is expected to have some involvement in the project, but likely not as a writer. We hear Calista Flockhart, who starred in the title role, has been approached about reprising her role, but there have been no formal talks.
Ally McBeal aired for five seasons on Fox from 1997 to 2002. Created by Kelley, the series starred Flockhart as Ally, a lawyer working in the Boston law firm Cage and Fish along with her ex-lover and his wife, and followed Ally’s trials and tribulations through life as she looked for love and fulfillment. One of the most beloved legal dramas could be gearing up for a triumphant return.
TV Line is reporting that a limited series revival of Ally McBeal is officially in development.
Calista Flockhart, who played the titular lawyer on the original series, is being eyed for a comeback.
If they seriously plan on calling the series Ally McBeal, then they really need to think about locking Flockhart in before pressing on with the project.
Could you imagine Ally McBeal without Flockhart playing the snarky lawyer? It wouldn't land well.
Ally McBeal was a big series for Fox when it kicked off in 1997. It ultimately lasted until 2002, with the network swinging the axe after five brilliant seasons.
There was a considerable amount of closure, however, which is unusual when you consider the fact that the series was canceled.

The early success of CBS’ new “The Big Bang Theory” prequel “Young Sheldon” is a reminder that often the most successful spin-offs look or feel completely different from their mother ship. “The Simpsons” was nothing like “The Tracey Ullman Show.” “Mork and Mindy” was set in a different time frame than “Happy Days.” And “Maude,” “The Jeffersons” and “Good Times” featured characters with a completely different mindset from “All in the Family’s” Archie Bunker.
Try as TV executives and creators might, it’s nearly impossible to replicate success in the same world or with many of the same characters. "I think Hallmark is doing this really exciting thing right now, where they buy a series of books, they're books for young adults, or adolescents, and they're really fun Agatha Christie-style mysteries," the Canadian actor excitedly told Et over the phone earlier this month. "I actually signed on for three of them."

The 51-year-old actor, who gained notoriety on medical dramas like Mercy and Grey's Anatomy, seems to have hit his stride in the mystery genre with roles in Revenge and Big Little Lies.

If you haven’t taken advantage of all that Hulu has to offer lately besides “The Handmaid’s Tale” – which everybody should really, really watch right now – then you’re missing out.
“The Handmaid’s Tale’ has been a groundbreaking series for the streaming service, thanks to its foreboding story about a near future in which a portion of the United States has been turned into a theocracy. This new world of Gilead subjugates women and makes the fertile ones become breeders for high-ranking officials. Moving performances by Elisabeth Moss, Samira Wiley, Yvonne Strahovski, O-t Fagbenle and Alexis Bledel have made this series a must-watch.
Not only does Hulu have strong original programming like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” but it is one of the best places to watch shows that are currently on TV now, which makes cord-cutting that much easier. It also has an impressive catalog of past shows that are well worth revisiting.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: Who has been the best guest star on a scripted show?
Tim Surette (@timsurette), TV.com
Wayne Brady showing up in body armor and riding a horse on Syfy’s post-apocalyptic disaster disaster “Aftermath” needs to be mentioned somewhere in this critics’ roundup, so here it is. But I’ll point out two from intentional comedies that come to mind. Timothy Olyphant’s short run on “The Grinder” as himself was fantastic and if I didn’t mention this my coworker Kaitlin would kill me. But my pick goes to David Duchovny, also as himself, on “The Larry Sanders Show.” We’d largely known Duchovny for...

I don’t know if you’re anything like me, but I can often spend hours upon hours trawling through iTunes looking for new movies to buy… Usually I’ll randomly come across a title I haven’t seen in years and use the “Cast & Crew” links to make my way down the rabbit hole to the more obscure side of Apple’s digital movie service.
Now whilst many will decry that iTunes is a terrible VOD service due to Apple’s desire to lock its audience to their platforms, if you have an Apple TV or iPad be aware – there are some truly obscure films hidden away in the depths of the vast collection of movies. Some of which have been made available in the UK for the first time since VHS and a Lot that have been added to the service in their original uncut form!
