"So it could be anyone?" Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for an action thriller / serial killer mystery title Boneyard, which is being dumped on VOD this July if anyone wants to watch. The title card in the trailer even says this movie is "inspired by true crime stories" which probably means this script went into production because they wanted to capitalize on the obsession with true crime right now. When the remains of women are discovered in the New Mexico desert, an extensive investigation is launched. Inspired by true crime stories, this chilling crime-thriller follows detectives on a hunt for the killer. As each of their agendas and methods clash, a tangled web of intrigue casts suspicion in all directions. As usual. The film stars Brian Van Holt, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Nora Zehetner, Michael Sirow, Spice Williams-Crosby, Weston Cage, Gabrielle Haugh, and Mel Gibson. This looks exceptionally generic and derivative,...

Co-directed by Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote, The Wrath of Becky is a sequel to Becky, a twisted home invasion horror that quickly gained cult appeal when it was released in 2020. With original co-directing duo Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion on board as executive producers, it’s a satisfying follow-up that ticks all the right sequel boxes.
The story picks up three years after the events of the first film, with a now 16-year-old Becky (Lulu Wilson) living with kindly elderly lady Elena (Denise Burse) and working as a diner waitress. However, when Becky pours coffee in the lap of an obnoxious customer, he and his friends follow her home, killing Elena and stealing Becky’s beloved dog, Diego. Directed by Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote and starring Lulu Wilson as Becky, a killing machine, “The Wrath of Becky” is a sequel to Becky (2020) that is much more enjoyable and action-packed.
This film does not have a single philosophical idea to discuss during our existentialist meetings. Since we stopped attending those meetings, our lives have been much better.
Plot
Two years after surviving a violent attack on her family, 16-year-old Becky tries to rebuild her life while caring for an older woman, a kindred spirit named Elena. However, when a violent group known as the Noble Men breaks into her home, attacks them, and takes her beloved dog, Becky must take matters into her own hands to protect herself and her loved ones.

The Wrath of Becky hits Digital outlets – rental & purchase – on Friday, June 16!
Meagan wrote in her review of The Wrath of Becky for Bd, “Armed with John Wick-like motivation, Becky plunges into a vengeful quest that provokes more violence, bloodletting, and a higher body count. This time a more well-rounded sense of humor offsets her wrath.”

Directed by Timo Vuorensola and starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Alec Baldwin, “97 Minutes” raises a difficult moral dilemma: is it worth sacrificing an entire plane of innocent people to save the lives of thousands? The movie takes us on an entertaining ride of action, suspense, and tension aboard a 767.
Original? Not really, but it’s a decent watch for a lazy afternoon and easily forgettable the next day.
Storyline
A hijacked 767 will crash in just 97 minutes when it runs out of fuel. Against the strong will of Toyin, the Nsa’s deputy, Director Hawkins prepares to shoot down the plane before it causes catastrophic damage on the ground, leaving the fate of the innocent passengers in the hands of Tyler, one of the supposed hijackers on board, who is an undercover Interpol agent. . or is he?

The Wrath Of Becky Q&a with Aaron Dalla Villa:
Can you tell us a bit about your character DJ in "The Wrath of Becky" and how you prepared for the role?
Oh man, another bottom-of-the-barrel piece of patriotic filth who uses crude comedy and a "devil may care" attitude to hide behind his insecurities and small dick…My Favorite! When the movie premiered at SXSW, I joked about how I got a Vpn and Tor browser and went onto Reddit-type echo chambers that spewed white supremacy hate, but that was a joke. I'm from Virginia and have family from North Carolina. I'm not saying that the South is entirely racist, but I've been around these types of people. And without calling out specifically who, I will say that I modeled DJ after a family member. I studied the script over and over and made some bold choices.

"What we do today... is the beginning of their end." 101 Films has revealed a trailer for 97 Minutes, yet another airplane hijacking thriller coming up (also see: Idris Elba in Hijack). This one is a UK production, filmed in the UK, and it's directed by the Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola, best known for the two Iron Sky movies. The clock is ticking, with only 97 Minutes – can he save them? Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars as the man on the plane, with Alec Baldwin as Hawkins, plus MyAnna Buring, Jo Martin, Michael Sirow,...

Released to theaters in the theatrical dog days of mid-2020, Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion’s “Becky” became a home-formats hit, its gleefully tasteless home-invasion thrills a guilty-pleasure tonic for Covid captives going a bit stir-crazy. Now Lulu Wilson is back as that title character, more or less the sole survivor of her prior screen outing. You can be sure in “The Wrath of Becky” that age hasn’t dulled her pissed-off homicidal verve, and that fate will surely provide another crop of ne’er-do-wells to tempt its exercise.
However, a different writing-directing duo is in charge this time, Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote. Their efforts generate rewards that are somewhat diminished, if still diverting. Quiver is releases this SXSW-premiered sequel to U.S. theaters, with home-formats dates as yet unannounced.

Plot: Becky decimated a quartet of neo-Nazis when she was just 13 years old. Now a couple years have passed, and she finds herself up against a new group of enemies.
Review: The pandemic shut the world down in March of 2020. But a few months later, directors Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion gifted a nation of shut-ins with a special treat: the thriller Becky, which has been described as an “ultra violent Home Alone”. Playing in drive-ins across America before heading to VOD, Becky earned $1 million at the domestic box office during that troubled time. In the long run, it made enough money and caught enough attention to get a sequel greenlit… and now we have The Wrath of Becky. A sequel that comes from an entirely new creative team, who decided to make a tonal shift that might not sit well with some fans of the original.

You just don’t mess with someone’s dog. If John Wick has taught us anything, it’s that. The first movie must have slipped completely under my radar, as I had no idea that Wrath of Becky was a sequel to anything. Brian Van Holt, who starred opposite Kate McKinnon in limited series Jo vs. Carole, is also starring in the feature whose cast includes Nora Zehetner (The Right Stuff). Co-starring is Michael Sirow, most recently seen in SXSW movie The Wrath Of Becky.
Colin Bates, who produced the Halle Berry thriller Kidnap and the Arnold Schwarzenegger zombie drama Maggie, is producing the hot indie with Vincent McDaniel.
Inspired by true events, Boneyard tells of an FBI special agent, played by Gibson, who along with the Albuquerque police department, is hunting for a serial killer nicknamed The Bone Collector. The chief of police and one of his officers, however, have a contrary view of the manhunt, believing someone in their own department may be the killer.
Jackson is playing the chief while Van Holt plays the officer who is connected to the case through a missing niece.

Editor’s note: This review was originally published at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival. Quiver Distribution releases the film in theaters on Friday, May 26.
When we last left “Becky” (starring an extraordinary Lulu Wilson), she’d managed to off an entire cell of neo-Nazis, ingeniously and gruesomely plotting their deaths after she and her ill-fated dad ran afoul of the baddies during the world’s worst family vacation. Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion’s icky “Becky” didn’t do much more than deliver on the promise of turning a teenage girl into a righteous murderer — and, again, what luck to have cast the plucky and spunky Wilson in the title role — but it did feel as if there was more ground to cover (and more blood to spill).
Thus: Sequel! “The Wrath of Becky,” which arrives just three years after Milott and Murnion’s indie hit, certainly offers more — it’s also more of the same.

Lulu Wilson tapped into a primal ferocity for her turn as the enraged teen taking down violent home intruders in 2020’s Becky. Its follow-up, The Wrath of Becky, reveals that the time passed between films hasn’t diminished the teen’s volatile rage in the slightest. Armed with John Wick-like motivation, Becky plunges into a new vengeful quest that provokes more violence, bloodletting, and a higher body count. This time a more well-rounded sense of humor offsets her wrath.
Writer/Directors Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote recalibrate the tone straightaway with a humorous reintroduction to the title character. It’s been two years since the events of the first film, and Becky’s been humoring foster families before quickly dodging them. Eventually, Becky and her loyal dog Diego get taken in by a kind older woman (Denise Burse), who never asks questions and isn’t phased by Becky’s survivalist training.

Holy hell this year’s SXSW Film Festival isn’t messing around.
The official lineup has just been revealed and it’s a banger, starting off with a special screening of Evil Dead Rise!
In addition, they have several prominent horror titles that will premiere as part of the Midnighters program, including the Sundance hit Talk to Me and the surprise sequel to Becky, The Wrath of Becky!
“Midnighters don’t need to be exclusively horror films, they just need to perk you up and get your blood pumping,” said Peter Hall, Film & TV Festival Programmer. “That’s why this year’s SXSW Midnighters class is a mix of horror, bone-crunching action, and mind-melting genre hybrids. Some of them introduce new, terrifying lore to the canon of suburban horror movies, some will worm around in your brain like thoughts you can’t shake, but all of them will make you...

"You made a crucial mistake..." "I'm gonna do what I do best." Vertical Ent. has revealed an official trailer for Wrong Place, yet another of these B-movie crime thrillers with Bruce Willis. You thought they were done?! They've probably got a dozen more of these lined-up, sadly, clearly manipulating Bruce into just working and work. In this film, a meth cook hunts down the former police chief of a small town in order to silence him before he can deliver eyewitness testimony against his family, but ultimately finds himself up against more than he had bargained for when he threatens the chief's daughter. Starring Ashley Greene, Bruce Willis, Michael Sirow, Texas Battle, Stacey Danger, & Massi Furlan. This looks as formulaic and as obvious and as cheesy as expected. Unfortunately there's nothing to see with these final Willis films. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Mike Burns' Wrong Place, direct from...

I guess anyone who enjoys action thrillers has already seen Out Of Death at least a dozen times over.
It is, after all, every American’s worst nightmare. You just happen to be out hiking a trail in some conveniently out of the way location – if the banjo accompaniment is anything to go by, this might well be Deliverance territory – when you stumble across some bad people doing bad things.
In this case, the lone hiker is a young woman and photojournalist by name of Shannon, out hiking on some spiritual voyage of reconnection to her deceased father. Also, to scatter his ashes. The baddies? Well, they just happen to be pretty much the entirety of the local police department under the leadership of corrupt sheriff Hank Rivers (Michael Sirow).
One of their number, Billie Jean (Lala Kent), is out to conclude a drug deal with a fairly obvious ne’erdowell.

Willis plays a retired cop who rescues a hiker from drug dealers in this hamfisted paean to ‘open carry’ gun laws
Bruce Willis is trudging pretty wearily through the motions in this straight-to-digital-oblivion crime thriller, one of those strange films that actually begins with a sort of quasi-trailer, mood-montage of the film’s most exciting bits before the opening credits, featuring characters as yet unexplained. The film squanders one or two promising plot ideas, and winds up making a hamfisted paean of praise to the idea of “open carry” gun ownership.
Willis plays retired Philadelphia cop Jack Harris, who has just lost his wife to cancer, and gone to a remote mountain cabin owned by his niece Pam (Kelly Grayson), to get over his loss. Out of Death is the latest Emmett/Furla production, a company who seem to be following the Pm Entertainment model of churning out action movie after action movie, with actors who are either long-term mid-carders or, like Willis, are in the twilight of their career. Of course there are the many Dtv franchises that Universal 1440 put out: Behind Enemy Lines, The Marine, Death Race, Sniper, etc. but not much by way of original storytelling. Soon she meets Dean Taylor (played by Jack Manley), the good-looking ‘bad boy’ that has every girl’s attention, including Arielle’s. Having just been released from prison for armed robbery and assault, Dean has to live with his ‘drunk of a father’ if he is to have a chance at a normal life. But when an accident happens and Dean’s father ends up dead, all bets are off. At the same time, after a violent argument at home after her savings are stolen, Arielle leaves and takes Dean with her as they set out on the road to Hollywood in search of a new life, one step closer to the fame Arielle so desperately desires.

Production Start
Bella Thorne’s crime drama “Southland” has begun production in Oklahoma with Joshua Caldwell directing from his own script.
The story follows two young lovers who rob their way across the southland, posting their exploits to social media and gaining fame and followers along the way. The film also stars Jake Manley (“The Order”), Amber Riley (“Glee”) and Michael Sirow.
“I could not have shot ‘Southland’ anywhere but in Oklahoma,” said Caldwell. “Its geographical diversity allows it to stand in for a multitude of other locations, including Florida and Texas, and the land on which this state rests is both haunting and beautiful.”
“Southland” began principal photography in Guthrie and will continue throughout the month filming in multiple communities in the central Oklahoma region.
