If there’s anything superhero movies try to stay away from over the past years, it’s the exhibition of s*x scenes. The majority of comic book films don’t show this type of mature theme as it would affect the rating and viewership.
Avengers: Infinity War / Marvel Studios
This is the dilemma of renowned director Richard Linklater when it comes to creating movies. The lack of intimate scenes in superhero films has swiftly become the trend in Hollywood.

Bachelorette Alum Embraces Fatherhood
During his time on Bachelor In Paradise, Blake Horstmann got a bit of a playboy reputation. He famously hooked up with two of his fellow Bip contestants before the show.
However, it seems he’s retired his womanizing ways after meeting Giannina Gibelli. She starred on Season 1 of Netflix’s Love Is Blind. The now-couple met when they were on another reality show, All Star Shore.
They had to keep their relationship on the down-low for a while until the show aired on television. In November 2023, they revealed that they were expecting a child together. Heath Orion...

After several unsuccessful attempts in recent years, Ayushmann Khurrana and Anees Bazmee are finally collaborating. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Ayushmann is teaming up with Bazmee for a comedy entertainer set to be produced by Junglee Pictures.
The yet-untitled project is believed to be an out-and-out comedy with romantic undertones, featuring Ayushmann in another quirky character role he’s popularly known for. Although it’s yet unclear if it’s a horror comedy as reported in the media, the double-role movie previously discussed with Shahid Kapoor, or an entirely different project, sources ensure that it’s a typical Anees Bazmee entertainer packed with humor, romance, and drama.
Ayushmann reunites with Junglee Pictures for what would mark his fourth project with the company, following their three successful partnerships on critically and commercially successful movies—Bareilly Ki Barfi, Badhaai Ho, and Doctor G. The combination of these two hit forces with a...

The Oscars shortlist voting period has closed as of 5:00 p.m. Pt.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce the finalists in 10 categories — documentary feature (15), documentary short subject (15), international feature (15), makeup and hairstyling (10), sound (10), original score (15), original song (15), animated short film (15), live action short film (15), and visual effects (10) — on Thursday, Dec. 21.
We expect to see multiple best picture contenders in various races, including Greta Gerwig’s meta-comedy “Barbie” and Christopher Nolan’s historical biopic “Oppenheimer.” When it comes to “Barbie,” we are forecasting six mentions for the movie, including three of its songs — “Dance the Night,” “I’m Just Ken” and “What Was I Made For,” which feels like it sealed the deal with Billie Eilish’s moving musical performance on this week’s “Saturday Night Live.”

Varying mediums and genres could find representation throughout the lists.

Sean Penn, whose Volodymyr Zelenskyy documentary “Superpower” recently launched on Paramount+, will be on the iconic stage of Cannes’s Grand Auditorium later this month — but it won’t be for a movie.
The Oscar winner is set to attend Mipcom, the international TV conference, alongside Matthew Fox (“Lost”) and Kick Gurry (“Edge of Tomorrow”) to discuss their wartime satire series “C*A*U*G*H*T” as part of a Media Mastermind Keynote on Oct. 18. Penn, who stars and serves as executive producer on the show, will participate in a panel discussion with Fox and Curry. The session will see them discuss ways in which the series explores themes of identity, fame and social media absurdities.
Landing a Hollywood star like Penn is a massive coup for Mipcom, which has sought to raise its profile within a competitive landscape for industry events.

Susan Sarandon, playing the U.S. Secretary of State Alaska Adams, gets the better of Bryan Brown, as the Australian prime minister, in a fast-paced verbal duel that represents the first footage from the Sean Penn-produced satirical comedy series “C*A*U*G*H*T.”
An elite team of Aussie soldiers is sent to an island nation to retrieve a secret file that has gone astray. Mistaken for Americans, they are captured by freedom fighters and produce a hostage video that goes viral. When the soldiers achieve celebrity status on social media, they realize that being caught might just be the best thing that could’ve happened to them.
“C*A*U*G*H*T” explores themes of identity, fame, and the absurdity of the viral age. “Why can’t we comedically deconstruct the intellectual ideas that humanity is facing right now?” says Kick Gurry who directs, produces and stars in the six-part series.

This post contains spoilers for the series finale of "Star Trek: Picard."
For weeks now, the "one last ride" sentiment of the final season of "Star Trek: Picard" has been balanced out a bit by persistent murmurings from the show's cast and crew. "This is the end of the road for the crew from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation,'" everyone essentially seems to be saying. "Unless...?" There's a whole world of speculation to be wrung from that meaningful ellipses, and at a press event attended by /Film, "Star Trek: Picard" showrunner Terry Matalas once again added his name to the growing list of people who would love to see the these beloved characters again.
/Film's Vanessa Armstrong attended a roundtable interview featuring Matalas in which the showrunner seemed eager to both focus on the present -- the series' finale just aired this week, after all -- and look to the future.

Open Road Films has acquired the North American rights to the action film Kandahar starring Gerard Butler. The thriller reunites Butler with his Greenland and Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh. The duo are also in pre-production on the Greenland follow-up, Greenland: Migration.
“What made Mitch Lafortune’s visceral script so compelling and unique for me is its authenticity and how he humanizes not just our heroes, but all the characters portrayed in a region that’s been locked in a perpetual cycle of violence,” said director Ric Roman Waugh.
In addition to Gerard Butler, the cast includes Navid Negahban (Homeland), Ali Fazal (Death on the Nile), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), and Bollywood star Elnaaz Norouzi.

The documentary awards race always begins at Sundance, where “Flee” (Neon) and “Summer of Soul” (Searchlight) broke out as Oscar frontrunners; Tribeca debuted high-profile “The Lost Leonardo” (Sony Pictures Classics) and “Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain” (Focus), while Todd Haynes’ “Velvet Underground” (AppleTV+) and “Val” (A24/Amazon) played well at Cannes.
Every September, the Toronto International Film Festival documentary lineup introduces more top non-fiction titles to the list of Oscar contenders — and this year, without many clear frontrunners, TIFF’s influence will be greater than ever. STX has nabbed worldwide rights to “Greenland: Migration,” a sequel to the 2020 disaster film starring Gerard Butler.
In the biggest deal yet at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, STX shelled out $25 million to roll out the film in the U.S. and Canada and paid another $50 million for international territories. In line with STX’s distribution model, the sequel is being pre-sold to buyers in foreign markets to offset the massive $75 million price tag.
STX distributed the first film, which skipped theaters in the U.S. and debuted directly on premium video-on-demand platforms. The company didn’t disclose rental sales, so it’s unclear how many people watched “Greenland” at home. Outside of North America, “Greenland” played on the big screen in more than 26 countries and collected $52 million at the international box office.
Ric Roman Waugh is returning to direct the follow-up to “Greenland,” with screenwriter Chris Sparling on board to write the script.

By comparison, while “Drivers License” saw a bigger first week, it only pulled in around 223,000 units in its fourth.

Some of those age-old questions, it seems, are destined never to be answered (Half-Life 3 will forever remain vaporware at this point) but there are rare occasions when developers decide, seemingly out of a spontaneous act of kindness – or more likely, a result of fatigue from being asked the same question ad nauseam – to provide a definitive answer to such queries. And so it is, in this case, that legendary game developer and id Software co-founder John Romero has finally provided an answer that Doom fans have long craved for. Brace yourselves for this revelatory, not-at-all-expected truth bomb, it’s going to gently rock your world.

Watch Tom Cruise and the Top Gun: Maverick cast take you to the Danger Zone in new behind-the-scenes footage of how it was filmed.
When Top Gun came out in 1986, it changed the way summer blockbusters were made and inspired a whole new aesthetic for how the U.S. military was shot—often at sunset and in silhouette. One could charitably suggest Michael Bay took his whole color palette from that movie. Yet much has changed since Tom Cruise last stepped foot in the cockpit, particularly Cruise himself. No longer a spring chicken, Top Gun: Maverick marks Cruise’s first legacy sequel to a previous classic. But what’s also changed is Cruise’s increased dedication to stunts… including in jets.
Following much in the footsteps of Cruise learning to fly a helicopter for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, one of the last legitimate movie stars and a...

After backing quality indie dramas like “The Squid and the Whale” and “The Spectacular Now,” Andrew Lauren boosted his Andrew Lauren Prods. shingle by bringing industry vet D.J. Gugenheim aboard as a partner and president. Now the son of designer Ralph Lauren is returning to the fest circuit with his first projects in four years: Brady Corbet’s musical drama “Vox Lux,” pictured above, starring Natalie Portman and Jude Law, which has its Sept. 4 Venice world premiere in competition before screening Sept. 7 in Toronto; and the Sept. 9 Toronto world premiere of Claire Denis’ sci-fi adventure “High Life,” starring Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche and André Benjamin.
You were a producer and the main backer of 2013’s “The Spectacular Now” and an exec producer of 2014’s musician doc “Mateo.” Why did you take a four-year break?
It’s always a challenge as a producer/financier. I’m putting up my own money,...

The most prolific of French filmmakers and ex-New Wavers, Jean-Luc Godard, has come up with an adventurous-philosophical pic with this one. He takes a popular actor and uses his screen personage in a new way.
That Yank who became a star over here [in France] playing in parody G-Man pix, Eddie Constantine is shown in some future city where human feelings have all but been done away with and where the powerful leader is a super computer.
Though supposed to be some city 30 years hence, Godard has shot strictly on location in Paris. But he has managed to give it a depressing aspect in choosing grubby, large tourist hotels as well as canny use of many modern buildings. This builds up a sort of no-man s-land between totalitarian drabness and super-modern garishness.
