Here are 7 actions of the 80s to relax while watching them.

It’s been four decades since Samantha Baker bemoaned the fact that everyone had forgotten her 16th birthday amid the chaos caused by her wacky sister’s impending nuptials. On May 4, 1984, “Sixteen Candles” was released, the success of which prompted a string of hits by filmmaker John Hughes, launched the careers of several performers and inspired the glory years of teen movies in the 1980s. Read on for more about the “Sixteen Candles” 40th anniversary.
After the success of two movies based on screenplays he had written, “Mr. Mom” and “National Lampoon’s Vacation” (1983), Hughes was given the opportunity to direct one of his scripts. Up to this point, “teen movies” had largely evolved from cautionary “rebellion” films in the 1950s to the beach party films of the 1960s to slasher films of the 1970s to sex comedies in the early 1980s. The teaser for the sixth and final season of Cobra Kai depicts white belts practicing, kids in street clothes punching what looks like tennis balls, and Ralph Macchio showing absolutely no shame as he recites the cringe-inducing phrase, “Love the smell of karate in the afternoon.” Despite this, his character, original Karate Kid Daniel Larusso, is able to pull it together long enough to face off with his decades-old nemesis Johnny Lawrence (actor William Zabka) previewing the feud at the heart of the series.

If you had told me back in 1984 that we'd still be following the antics of The Karate Kid 40 years later, I would have laughed in your face.
As The Karate Kid movies progressed, they became less compelling.
Still, the magic surrounding them never subsided, and nobody could have predicted the advent of streaming or the success of Cobra Kai.
The one-time YouTube original was a hit from the start, but it became a juggernaut when it ultimately landed on Netflix.
We've gotten to know Daniel again, grown close to his family and discovered the warm heart that resides inside Johnny's chest.
But when two former enemies become allies, you always know there's another combatant coming around the corner.
It's an incredible feat of the industry to have reassembled the most crucial characters in The Karate Kid universe for Cobra Kai.

Sony pushes two of its upcoming releases back by several months, with Kraven The Hunter receiving its second substantial delay.
Sony has announced a couple of delays to two of its biggest upcoming titles.
Kraven The Hunter, the latest film in Sony’s series of Spider-Man spin-off films, has been pushed back by around four months, from August all the way back to December. This marks the second delay for the superhero movie which was originally supposed to release at the tail end of last year before being delayed until August. This second delay now means it has effectively been pushed back by a full year.
According to Deadline, the new release date means Kraven will be able to secure plenty of IMAX and other premium format screens. Whether that’s the reason for the delay, though, the story doesn’t mention.

Sony’s Kraven the Hunter was supposed to be 2024’s second Spider-Man-adjacent film. However, the studio is trying to put as much space between it and Madam Web as possible. Kraven is just barely staying in the calendar year.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the live-action adaptation of the comic book villain, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, has been moved from August 30 to December 13. The Karate Kid previously held this date. Sony has since moved that reboot to May 30, 2025.

Renowned cult classics have undoubtedly provided us with several mentor-like figures, but among all, Pat Morita’s Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid remains the most beloved one. But what if we say that the actor was initially turned down for the role of karate guru by the film’s producer Jerry Weintraub?

When Cobra Kai returns to Netflix for its sixth and final season, the Karate Kid spinoff plans to expand the Miyagiverse significantly. The teen-focused drama Crane kicked martial arts action fans in the face in 2018, building on the Karate Kid legacy started by Ralph Macchio (Daniel Larusso), William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), and Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi). With every season, Cobra Kai has grown through fan-service casting, interpersonal drama, and hard-hitting action. No one could have predicted the Miyagiverse would expand the way it has because of Cobra Kai, and now the show’s co-creator, Jon Hurwitz, says fans can expect Season 6 to explore the franchise in exciting ways like never before!
In a thread on Twitter/X, Hurwitz assured fans the final season of the series delivers big surprises, in-depth character flashbacks, and plot elements that expand the Miyagiverse.
“Season 6 expands the ‘Karate Kid/Cobra Kai’ universe more than the first 5 seasons combined.

If you haven’t taken the leap to bundle Disney+ and Hulu, it might be time. Streaming is only getting more expensive and competitive, and the enticing bundle (which also includes ESPN) might be a version of cable TV, but it’s also just cost efficient. Disney+ and Hulu are so intertwined that their monthly listing updates come in the same email — and as such, we decided to compile them here for you in the same list.
Whether you have Disney+ or Hulu, or both (and the IndieWire staff has weighed on our favorites), each has its benefits. Disney has the family-friendly titles, the Star Wars and Marvel (new episodes of “The Bad Batch” and “X-Men: 97” continue through April), while Hulu is the place to catch FX originals and network episodes. Both streamers have the rights to distribute National Geographic titles, which are well worth exploring along with the rest of the library.

The number of actors the Netflix TV series Cobra Kai has brought back to reprise their characters from the Karate Kid films has been very impressive. Not only do you have Ralph Macchio and William Zabka back as Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence, but there’s also Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith as villains John Kreese and Terry Silver, Yuji Okumoto and Sean Kanan as villains-turned-allies Chozen Toguchi and Mike Barnes; Ron Thomas, Rob Garrison, and Tony O’Dell as Johnny’s former Cobra Kai buddies; and appearances by Elisabeth Shue as Ali Mills, Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko, and Robyn Lively as Jessica Andrews. They even brought Traci Toguchi back as Yuna, the “Girl Bell Ringer” she played in The Karate Kid Part II. But one actor who might not be returning from the films is Hilary Swank, who played Julie Pierce in the 1994 film The Next Karate Kid.

Will Smith’s son, Jaden Smith, is getting trolled for his aloof expression in a recent picture with his girlfriend. Jaden is a talented person, just like his parents; he is an actor and a rapper. He, along with his sister Willow, even has a clothing brand. Jaden has often popped up on tabloids thanks to being born to famous parents, and once it went out of the line, he became the subject of an online death hoax. Sony’s new Karate Kid movie will see Ben Wang star alongside Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio. More here:
After a lengthy search which saw a quite frightening number of actors apply for the role, the next Karate Kid film has cast its title star. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s exclusive, it’s Ben Wang, previously known for his work on the series American Born Chinese.
As it turns out, Wang is quite spectacularly suited for the role, given that he’s well versed in a number of martial arts forms, including kung fu, kempo, taekwondo as well as karate. We wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of him, frankly.
Sony’s Karate Kid film is the first since the 2010 reboot, in which Jaden Smith took over from Ralph Macchio as the bullied teenager taken under the wing of a martial arts sage, played in that...

Netflix will not be moving forward with a second season of “Obliterated,” Variety has confirmed.
Hailing from “Cobra Kai” creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, the comedy followed a special forces team who — after believing they’d thwarted a deadly threat to Las Vegas —celebrates their victory accordingly with a party filled with booze, drugs and sex only to discover that a bomb they deactivated was a fake. The now intoxicated team has to fight through their impairments, overcome their personal issues, find the real bomb and save the world.
Shelley Hennig, Nick Zano, Alyson Gorske, C. Thomas Howell, Eugene Kim, Paola Lázaro and Amalia Yoo star.
Hurwitz, Schlossberg and Heald executive produced “Obliterated” with Dina Hillier from Counterbalance Entertainment. Sony Pictures Television is the studio.
The news comes as Hurwitz and Heald recently teased that he and the team were back at work on the sixth and final season of “Cobra Kai.

Revolving around two things many of us know all too well, neighbours from hell and writer’s block, Destroy All Neighbors is an over-the-top exercise in splatstick from director Josh Forbes and writers Mike Benner, Jared Logan and Charles A. Pieper.
William Brown makes his living as a sound engineer at Industrial Sound & Magic, helping to bring other people’s music to life. Currently, it’s the obnoxious Caleb Bang Jansen, “Emerson, Lake and Palmer? It sounds like Emerson getting buttfucked by Lake and Palmer.”
But when it comes to his own Prog Rock album, he’s stuck in a rut. While his girlfriend Emily believes in him, everyone else around him seems to exist only to stifle his efforts.

Growing up, my father used to lament that he had two daughters, not because he wanted to play catch with a miniature version of himself or some other Beaver Cleaver nonsense, but because in his words, "Women are unpredictable." As much as I'd like to reprimand my old man's archaic line of thinking, I know what he's getting at, and I'm tickled to know that this Midwestern Italian patriarch is rightfully intimidated by women. As he should be.
Generally speaking (and when approaching gender identity through a binary lens), there's a stereotype that men solve conflict through physicality. At the same time, women are often portrayed as committing acts of mental warfare that destroy a person from the inside out. Granted, I grew up in a high school environment where watching girls throw hands was weekly lunchtime entertainment, but I recognize that by and large, most people's lived experiences paint...
