Following The Big Bang Theory’s immense success, Young Sheldon went back to the past exploring Sheldon Cooper’s earlier years in his family house in Texas before he moved to California for better perspectives and met his best friend Leonard there.
With a significant time jump that the prequel makes, it was hardly possible to ever bring some of the original characters to Young Sheldon, yet the show proved the contrary by reuniting Sheldon’s younger and adult versions in the finale. However, the prequel also featured another major character that was seen in The Big Bang Theory, and this time it is indeed very hard to believe.
For those who were left heartbroken after Young Sheldon’s ending and opted for rewatching the original show to fill the void, one actor in a cameo role may appear to be pretty much familiar. Season 5 episode 11 introduces Jimmy Speckerman, a...

Whether it’s How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order, or Gilmore Girls, everyone seems to have a comfort show. Like that one snack that always sounds good, it’s a show you know you can count on time and time again. You never really get tired of watching it, and you just feel better after indulging in an episode. But what exactly defines a comfort watch? What does a comfort show even look like in today’s streaming-dominant world?
I can understand why many people immediately associate “comfort watch” exclusively with the likes of Friends and The Office. Sitcoms like this not only provide familiarity, but also simplicity. It’s nice to imagine a world where conflicts miraculously get resolved in 30 minutes or less, there’s hardly any real, lasting consequences, and everyone sits down for a nice dinner together at the end.

Nowadays, it seems like a quaint notion that a television series might stay on the air long enough to run out of ideas.
But almost fifty years ago, even a successful show like Happy Days wasn't immune to using outlandish stunts to bolster ratings.
And thank goodness for that, or we might all have been deprived of the cultural touchstone that is Fonzie jumping the shark.
Fonzie Jumps the Shark (And Enters History)
The phrase "jump the shark" has become shorthand for the moment when a television show loses its creative way and begins a downward spiral in quality and popularity.
However, when the actual shark jump happened in the "Hollywood: Part 3" episode of the show's fifth season, Happy Days hit number one in the Nielsen ratings.
The series aired for another six well-received seasons and even had successful spinoffs in the sitcoms Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy.

I’ve always been a big fan of cozy small-town shows. I grew up on Gilmore Girls, watch Ginny & Georgia religiously, and never pass up a chance to return to the comfort of One Tree Hill. But somehow, I’ve never gotten around to bingeing Netflix’s Virgin River.
The romantic drama, which premiered in 2019, centers on Mel Monoe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner and midwife who goes to work in the tiny, remote Northern California town of Virgin River in search of a fresh start — but like any charming small town, it comes with complications. The show is based on the book series of the same name by Robyn Carr, who also serves as an executive producer. In May 2023, it was renewed for a sixth season.

"Gilmore Girls" is known as one of the most rewatchable comfort shows of the aughts. It's beloved for its mile-a-minute dialogue, surreally perfect small-town setting, and a warm central relationship that's held together via the power of mom-daughter love and a shared fondness for junk food and pop culture. It's that last part that makes one of the show's own pop culture connections especially ironic: Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) love classic TV, but they're blissfully unaware that they're living with two stars of one of the most talked-about early sitcoms.
The pair live next door to a woman named Babette, a true eccentric who's as adorable as she is overbearing. Babette often says whatever comes to mind in her signature raspy voice, and she brings a sort of benevolent chaos to the series that counters some of Stars Hollows' more genuinely annoying characters. Eric Kripke is gonna catch ’em all. “The Boys” showrunner has slowly but surely been casting the stars of the iconic CW series “Supernatural,” which Kripke created, on his R-rated Amazon Prime Video superhero drama. And he’s got one “very big one” he’s eyeing to bring on in Season 5, even if it’s for “a single episode” — Jared Padalecki, a.k.a. Sam Winchester.
“He’s been busy the last few years, so schedules haven’t worked out,” Kripke told Variety in an interview Thursday, referring to Padalecki’s starring role on the CW’s “Walker,” which was canceled earlier this week after four seasons. Padalecki starred alongside Jensen Ackles on the CW’s “Supernatural” for 15 seasons, from its debut on what was then the WB in 2005 through its series finale in 2020.
“But now, unfortunately, [‘Walker’] got canceled — but the good thing is he’s free,” Kripke said.

Chad Michael Murray is opening up about his private struggles with anxiety at the height of fame.
In the 2000s, Murray starred in Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill and played the romantic lead in A Cinderella Story and the Lindsay Lohan-, Jamie Lee Curtis-starrer Freaky Friday. In a new The Cut profile, the actor shared that, at the time, he was “far more fragile than I ever put on.”
“Everyone starts telling you ‘Yes’,” he said. “But I was walking around with a really pained heart.”
He recalled a moment when he was 23 years old, during which he had an event in Miami but couldn’t leave his hotel room. “The world felt like it was closing in; I was having anxiety attacks,” he explained in what The Cut says was the beginning of Murray’s experience with agoraphobia, or a fear of being in a place...

There’s always been something — and not just because it gives you that cozy girl in the fall with a knitted blanket kind of vibe. Any fan of the will tell you a particular aspect that speaks to them directly, whether it’s the quick-paced dialogue, charmingly eclectic cast of small-town misfits, or Lorelai’s blind hatred of Evanescence. But at its core, Gilmore Girls tells the story of a unique mother-daughter relationship. “I sold it off of a line,” Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show’s creator told Today. “It’s like a mother and daughter, but they’re like friends. And they all perked up and said, ‘Great. We’ll buy that.’” Palladino has also long maintained that she knew the story’s ending from the very beginning — long before Netflix’s revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. So how did things pan out at the end of the show?...

If you're like us, the broadcast shows are not hitting their marks.
They're beyond formulaic (everyone's out to tear down Firehouse 51 on Chicago Fire? Give us a break already) and have lost their pizazz.

But the streamer that is part of our return to classic TV (Dark Shadows? Check! Family? Check! Columbo? Check!), Tubi, has a new original series on the way starring Gilmore Girls and Parenthood star Lauren Graham.
Neither show is on Tubi, so why not create one to bring the talented actress into their world?

Chad Michael Murray cemented himself as an early 2000s dreamboat with roles in A Cinderella Story, One Tree Hill, Freaky Friday and more. Now, as a father of three, the actor says his kids are one of his biggest considerations when choosing new roles.
The Mother of the Bride star sat down with Numéro Netherlands ahead of the release of the Netflix movie and discussed his decades-long career, future projects and how he always puts his family first.
“I would say, a lot of material, especially over the past five to eight years since my son was born, I choose because I think one of the last things you really want is for your kids to be berated in school for what their parents are doing,” Murray told the publication. “I don’t want my kids going to school, being freshmen in high school, and Dad’s butt posted all over their locker.

Chad Michael Murray has a goal when choosing his projects.
“I don’t want my kids going to school, being freshmen in high school, and Dad’s butt posted all over their locker,” he said in a recent Numero interview. “That’s not fair to them, so making decisions for that has been great.”
Murray, who began his career in TV with appearances on One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, Dawson’s Creek and Riverdale, moved on to such films as A Cinderella Story, Freaky Friday, and Fruitvale Station. It’s that time of year again that we celebrate the ladies who brought us into this world, raised us and inspired us to be the people we have become. It seems all the more significant during this time in which moms have been spending a lot more time with their kiddos.
It would be interesting to see how some of our favorite tv moms would have handled quarantine, or if some kids would actually be “safer at home” with some of these moms. It’s quite likely that if Malcolm and his brothers didn’t blow the house up out of sheer boredom, Lois’s screaming would have brought the place down. It’s doubtful that Marie Barone could have maintained social distancing, and not popped over to criticize Debra’s latest meal or endeavor while continuing to spoil Raymond. But then, the June Cleavers, Harriet Nelsons and Margaret...

Although many people believe that once a show ends, the fandom it had immediately evaporates, this is often not the case. The more viewers a show has during its run, the more chances it has of attracting new people decades after its premiere. Gilmore Girls is one of the best examples of this.
One of the things that makes the show so popular is that it appeals to a wide range of ages. While some of the Og fans used to identify more with Rory, they have grown up and face the same issues as Lorelai. This also makes more viewers think about the on-screen relationships and all the possibilities the show missed out on.

The line between reality and fiction in television hasn't always been obvious to people. Be it "Gilligan's Island" viewers badgering the Coast Guard to rescue the S.S. Minnow's poor shipwrecked crew or grown-up "Sesame Street" fans believing that Sonia Manzano and Emilio Delgado (who played married couple Maria and Luis for four decades) were actually hitched, history is littered with anecdotes of audiences assuming what they're seeing on their TV screen is actually happening. Despite the leaps and gains in the masses' media literacy over time, folks still need help understanding how even docuseries and so-called reality shows can easily manipulate the truth (as creators Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie satirized with "The Curse").

For Gilmore Girls fans, a fluency in popular culture isn’t just appreciated, it’s vital. Amy Sherman-Palladino’s classic, long-running series is packed with reference-filled dialogue, steeped in homage and indebted to so much television and film that came before.
Perhaps you’ve blazed through all 153 episodes (and four mini-movies!) and you’re considering another start-to-finish rewatch. Or maybe you’re looking for something else to stream next that still has that Stars Hollow spirit. If that’s the case, we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re looking for crackling romantic comedy, grounded high school drama or some popcorn flicks you could imagine Lorelai and Rory making a marathon night out of, here’s a few titles to fill that Gilmore-shaped hole in your heart.

Ryan Gosling is one of the most sought-after actors working in Hollywood right now. The actor possesses the prowess of appearing in cinematic projects across genres. However, it was not always the case, Gosling had his fair share of struggles in the early days, even having a disastrous audition in his career.
Ryan Gosling in Barbie
Like many actors, Gosling hit and missed several roles. Of course, the actor has proved his capability with many remarkable roles, including The Notebook and his Oscar-nominated performances in La La Land and Barbie. But the actor also lost several roles in films like Fifty Shades Of Grey, but his audition for Gilmore Girls was reportedly terrible at best.

Before I knew her as Archie Bunker's little girl Gloria on "All in the Family," I knew Sally Struthers as Rebecca Cunningham on "TaleSpin." A loving single mom and ambitious businesswoman whose outspoken personality belied her petite build, Rebecca -- aka "Becky," "Beckers," and the many other nicknames her responsibility-skirting, party-loving employee Baloo would use to refer to her -- was but one of many reasons to love the "Jungle Book"-inspired animated pulp period adventure series and Disney Afternoon staple. After years of trying (and failing) to keep the peace between her stubbornly conservative dad and her liberal, holier-than-thou husband Michael as Gloria in "All in the Family," Struthers was an expert in the art of sounding flustered, a talent that served her well on "TalepSpin."

Gilmore Girls alum Lauren Graham hosted a Q&a Friday during her Have I Told You This Already? book tour. Speaking to an audience at the Lincoln Theater in Washington, D.C., the discussion turned to her friendship with the late Matthew Perry.

Perry died at age 54 in his Los Angeles-area home on Oct. 28, 2023 from ketamine use that led to his drowning in a hot tub.

Logan Huntzberger himself, Matt Czuchry, chimed in on the decades-long debate over which of Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) boyfriends was the best. And he did it in the most diplomatic way possible.
Czuchry stopped by The Talk to promote his upcoming role in American Horror Story: Delicate and spent some time discussing arguably one of his biggest onscreen characters: Logan in Gilmore Girls.
The debate over which of Rory’s boyfriends is the best in the Amy Sherman-Palladino series has been ongoing since the show was first released in the early 2000s and continues to maintain its popularity today.
The daytime show’s hosts asked Czuchry about his thoughts on a viral TikTok from last year that raised a point that perhaps both Logan and Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) are below-average partners, and that’s why women’s standards for men have been so low over the past two decades.

Matt Czuchry is weighing in on the Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) romance discourse! During the April 2 episode of The Talk, the Gilmore Girls alum was shown a TikTok video of fan hating on both Logan Huntzberger and Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), calling them “below average” boyfriends and a possible reason why “standards have been on the floor for women for decades now.” Czuchry, always a gentleman, politely said, “We shouldn’t be searching for perfection in anything, whether it be relationships or whatever it may be.” He noted how Gilmore Girls has “spanned generations” because of its “timeless nature,” due in large part to creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Dan Palladino. “But specific to that take, I think that Logan had his strengths and weaknesses, and Jess has his strengths and weaknesses, and Dean has their strengths and weaknesses like we all do,” Czuchry elaborated. “I think the fun...

Now that Fox’s medical drama The Resident has hit Netflix, Matt Czuchry’s performance as Dr. Conrad Hawkins is back in the spotlight — but Gilmore Girls fans will always remember him as Logan Huntzberger. He portrayed Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) love interest Logan in Amy Sherman Palladino’s dramedy, which premiered on The WB in 2000 and ended its run on The CW in 2007. Logan first crossed paths with Rory at Yale in the Season 5 episode “Written in the Stars,” and immediately made a poor impression as he spoke patronizingly to her friend, repeatedly forgot her name, and just generally came off as an insufferable rich kid. However, even if you were #TeamJess, it was still difficult to not be at least a little charmed by Logan.

Jean-Paul Vignon, a French actor and vocalist who frequently lent his Gallic accent to Hollywood productions, died of liver cancer on March 22 in Beverly Hills, Calif. He was 89.

One thing is clear from a quick scroll through a cable TV guide or paying attention to the featured show commercials—the scarcity of family dramas.
Once that point is brought up, it's hard not to wonder what that says about our culture and society as a whole.
There was a time when families sat down and watched TV together.
Some of my fondest memories include watching Friday Night Lights and Gilmore Girls with my parents.
However, nowadays, the idea is becoming a foreign concept if the kids are under 18 or at least not teenagers.
There are many motives behind the switch to crime-focused content, whether true or procedural, hospital dramas, comedies, and series full of mature content.
And we are here to shed some light on the reasons for the change!

After Lucille Ball's spunky housewife Lucy signed off on the last episode of "I Love Lucy" but before Mary Tyler Moore did away with the nuclear family sitcom model with her own self-titled show, another actress was one of the faces of womanhood in comedy. Oscar-winning actress Donna Reed headlined "The Donna Reed Show" from 1958 to 1966, playing middle-class mother and housewife Donna Stone in the popular black-and-white series. Reed starred opposite Carl Betz, who played Donna's husband, pediatrician Dr. Alex Stone. In season 5, family friends Midge and Dave joined the fun, but for the most part, the show was all about the lighthearted hijinks of the Stone family.
Though "The Donna Reed Show" was popular upon release, it's now perhaps most often referenced as a pop cultural window into a time before second-wave feminism, when women were expected to spend their time cooking, cleaning, and child-rearing while men went to work.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 11, Episode 4 of “The Masked Singer,” “TV Theme Night,” which aired March 27 on Fox.
“Extra” host Billy Bush won’t get an extra shot at “The Masked Singer.” The entertainment newsmagazine anchor and one-time morning drive radio host was the next celebrity to be unmasked on Wednesday’s “TV Theme Night” edition of “The Masked Singer.”
“I’m not a great singer,” Bush said. “If you can’t make it with the lips, make it with the hips. If you’ve never done something that’s a little on the scary side — and this is scary — say yes!”
For Bush, none of the panelists got it right. Robin Thicke guessed Anderson Cooper. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg picked Seth Meyers. Ken Jeong picked Ryan Seacrest. New panelist Rita Ora said it was Andy Cohen.

“The Masked Singer” season 11 debuted another quartet of contestants on March 20. Of these new contenders for the Golden Mask, our favorite is the one disguised as Poodle Moth. She won over the crowd and the judges with her cover of the Billy Joel classic “Just the Way You Are.”
We’ve been rewatching that performance and her clues video. While we think that Poodle Moth is a professional singer we don’t agree with the judges that it is Wynonna Judd, Rita Wilson or Trisha Yearwood. Keep reading for all your “The Masked Singer” spoilers including the answer to the question, “Who is Poodle Moth”?
We are convinced that Poodle Moth is Chrissy Metz. Although best known for her starring role in the TV drama “This Is Us,” Metz is also a talented singer, focusing on inspirational music.
