The drama is based on the real life trials of Sidenafil, sold under the brand name Viagra, which had been developed by Pfizer to alleviate the symptoms of heart disease. Testing had indicated shown that men who had previously been impotent were now able to achieve an erection. The trials shown in the drama were undertaken in real life at Morriston Hospital in Swansea in 1994. The drama is a fictionalised account based on the information Dr David Price, one of the doctors involved in the trial, was able to relay about the trial.
The scenes outside Meurig's house address were filmed at the top of Gloucester place, Mumbles. Looking down the street you can see Oystermouth Castle in the distance.
