In the same evening, Marek (15) steals cigarettes; Elena, a teenager vanishes. A judge, a social worker and a police inspector oversee these seemingly unrelated cases. After the robbery, Marek's mother decides to burn bridges with him.
Elena's dead body is found. Marek, still behind bars for the robbery and now a murder suspect, sinks into depression. But Inspector Kadi discovers that the victim was having an affair with Nathan, son of the State Councilor for Justice.
After his attempted suicide Marek has been cleared of any wrongdoing and is now in intensive care. Inspector Kadi recognizes Santiago, Marek's accomplice, and tracks him down. It reveals to the judge that Elena was a drug dealer.
The investigation now implicates Nathan, which complicates the judge's relationship with him. Inspector Kadi realizes that Ivo has been lying to her. Anaïs, the social worker, saves Marek from his father, who has been abusing him.
Inspector Kadi gets Elena's sister to reveal a dark secret. Anaïs seems to have disciplines Marek, but her lack of boundaries backfires. To save the department's budget, Judge Gabrielle agrees to a compromise with Nathan's father.
Anaïs sets out in search of Marek, who has disappeared. But a discovery exposes the person who was responsible for Elena's murder. Kadi, Anaïs and Gabrielle will do everything they can to ensure that justice and respect go hand in hand.
