Demon Slayer has been experimenting with anime original scenes for the majority of its fourth season. With Muichiro Tokito and Tengen Uzui’s episodes individually elaborating on their stories, episode 5, I Even Ate Demons, picks up the pace of the series, considering that the 4th season has already entered its second half.

Instead of expanding on a page and a half into an entire episode, the series now takes up three different Hashira’s in only one part. The point is to not make it seem stretched while also progressing the story at a balanced pace. However, there were areas in which this episode lacked. While comedy is always appreciated, proving to be both a pallet cleanser for the seriousness and an equalizer to all the harshness; sometimes it can prove to be overbearing.

How Strong Is Oyakata in Demon Slayer? Kagaya Ubuyashiki's Unique Abilities Explained - Main Image
All the Hashira respect how strong Oyakata is to stand as their leader and father figure in humanity’s fight against Muzan.
Despite not fighting on the frontlines and risking his life, Oyakata is still the most important figure in the Demon Slayer Corps.
Instead of honing his physical strength and combat abilities, Oyakata stays at his mansion with his wife and kids, doing the best they can to support the demon slayers.
Why Is Kagaya Called Oyakata in Demon Slayer?
In Japan, Oyakata literally means "father" or "leader of others," particularly in traditional social groups such as one's family.
In other words, Oyakata is a Japanese honorific title bestowed upon a person of high respect and power, such as Kagaya Ubuyashiki, who is in charge of commanding the Demon Slayer Corps against Muzan Kibutsuji.

This Demon Slayer review contains spoilers.
“Shut up or I’ll kill you.”
The most popular anime series can face problems when complacency sets in – especially if there’s an assumption that audiences will stick around for the rest of the ride since they’ve already invested enough time into this adventure. An anime, whether it’s produced 10 episodes or 110 episodes, needs to constantly strive for innovation and disruption, otherwise it’s destined to fail. Demon Slayer’s Hashira Training Arc season has proven to be an extended exercise in trust and patience as Tanjiro spends each episode with a new Hashira and grows a little more confident. Slash, rinse, repeat.
“I Even Ate Demons…” doesn’t break free of this pattern, but it still finds ways to free itself from monotony and give audiences a taste of the Demon Slayer that they love most before they’re about to starve to death.

After Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and A Bug’s Life, John Lasseter directed his fourth film collaboration with Disney and Pixar, Cars (2006). By the time Pixar animated the story based on anthropomorphic cars, technology had advanced far from what they had used for their revolutionary first film in 1995. According to the reports, the computers used for animating Cars were 1000 times faster than those used in Toy Story.

However, the development of Cars began in 1998 right after the production of A Bug’s Life. It took years for Disney to come out with the film that had clean animations and used some advanced animation techniques. The efforts paid off handsomely as Cars became the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2006.

Demon Slayer season 4 has offered a lot of chances to witness growth in the series. This growth can be seen through characters who play roles both major and minor. The focus on Tanjiro’s character isn’t the only place where fans get to witness the depth in which many whose names also became forgettable after a point.

While taking time to set the stage and stakes for the inevitable final conflict between Muzan Kibutsuji’s horde of demons and the Demon Slayers led by the Hashiras, the fourth season of Demon Slayer has progressed at a relatively slower pace, but with the fourth episode, we can’t help but feel that the anime adaptation is really stretching the very barest of plot points to make an entire episode. With bare minimum action and not much character work either, this doesn’t feel like the way to deal with one of the most popular anime in recent years, and with such slow pacing from a ten-episode-long season, a fan outcry is bound to happen sooner or later.
Previously, Tanjiro had completed his training with former Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui and provided the amateur Demon Slayer trainees with some solid motivation to match up with Tengen’s stringent training regime.

“There are no do-overs in a fight against demons.”
Demon Slayer‘s Hashira Training Arc has been one of the anime’s most highly-anticipated seasons, which has made its subdued structure a strangely frustrating experience. It’s essential for shonen heroes to put in the work and learn how to overcome their limitations. It’s a formula that works best in small doses, rather than devoting an entire season to such prep work. In doing so, Demon Slayer’s fourth season operates like the inverse of its second and third seasons — both of which hinged on major battles that lasted for significant stretches of the season. In the case of Demon Slayer’s Swordsmith Village Arc, nearly the entire season was consumed by one huge multi-part assault. It’s smart for Demon Slayer to attempt to do something different, but this decision has opened...

This Demon Slayer review contains spoilers.
“It’s time to wake up that sluggish body of yours!”
Training arcs are commonplace in battle shonen anime and any series that’s repeatedly turned to this trope runs into the issue of how to make a new training arc feel fun and narratively compelling when it’s been done so many times before. This is an issue that’s endemic of the shonen genre as a whole, not just Demon Slayer, but it becomes a larger problem when the entire season has “Training Arc” in its title and is built upon this storytelling device.
Demon Slayer has been dense in training arcs, and while they’re usually entertaining, there’s a struggle to top past heights without hitting diminishing returns that diminish the events. It’s a risky gambit that potentially feels superfluous to the larger battle that it’s setting up.

Written by Yuto Suzuki, the Sakamoto Days manga has been a marginal cult classic for years now; the manga debuted in 2020 and has quietly attracted a large fanbase who love the quirky action-comedy take on the hitman sub-genre. Fans have been demanding an anime adaptation for years now and recently, some outlets reported that Netflix listed the project as an upcoming one as part of its Netflix Anime brand. At the time, we did not report on it because it was just a rumor and a plain list with no official confirmation, so it did not seem overly reliable, and it turns out that our assumption was correct.
Namely, Netflix has officially removed the Sakamoto Days anime from its list of upcoming projects, but that does not mean that we don’t have any good news for you, as it has – indeed – been confirmed that the Sakamoto Days anime is happening,...

Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc has been giving one strong episode after another. With the first two episodes setting a strong foundation for an otherwise short arc, the third makes it a mission to develop on exactly that. As usual, Ufotable is going above and beyond for their animation no matter how significant or insignificant the scenes may be.
Sanemi and Obanai | Credit: Ufotable
While the third episode doesn’t have a lot going for it, given the lack of content, the animation studio sees it as not a limitation but an obstacle made to pass with ease. Episode 3, Fully Recovered Tanjiro Joins the Hashira Training!!!, dives into Tanjiro’s time with Tengen Uzui. One limitation every fan knew about when going into this season, was the lack of content in the manga. Ufotable takes this opportunity to instead give them more anime original content.

Photo by Brianna Fox-Priest For a performance to produce goose-bumps is a rarity. The ones that do, leave a lasting impression for a long-time. I was lucky enough to witness a goose-bump inducing show recently when I watched the live performance of Demon Slayer: The Stage . Based on the manga, Demon Slayer: The Stage is a 2.5 Dimensional theatrical presentation of the series. This type of performance blends the 2D artform of manga, anime, and games with the 3D realm of theater. While in recent years more live-action films based on anime have made their way to audiences outside of Japan, 2.5 musical adaptations sadly have not. Related: Who Are the Hashira in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba? After setting up the core plan of the Hashiras to take the battle to Muzan and the rest of his demon lackeys, the fourth season of Demon Slayer slows things down a bit to explore the past of Water Hashira, Tomioka Giyo, and for good reason too. In his own eccentric way, Tomioka had distanced himself from the rest of the Hashiras for unknown reasons, which was not a good sign before their training for the final conflict began. It was necessary to address the situation, which becomes the key focus in the second episode of the ongoing season.
Previously, in the absence of the leader of the Demon Slayer corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, his wife Amane had conveyed his message to the Hashiras about the necessity of the Demon Slayer mark emerging in each of them, which would empower them to a great extent before their battle against Muzan and the rest of the Kizukis.
