Awesome!!! But the animation of Diablo sucks!
12 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This movie follows right after the events at the end of Season 2. I like the story and it gets you around the continent to see a different country from where the series or light novels take you. I like the tie in with Clayman and the Ogre village.

Overall, they did a good job with the story. It fits in even though Fuse wrote this after he finished the story, or at least the Webnovel.

Now, the only 2 things I didn't like: 1. Some of the voices, in English, were different voice actors. I hate it when they switch. We've gone 2 full seasons and it seems they can't keep the same ones all the time. The main characters are the same, Rimuru in particular.

2. Diablo's Animation - They screwed this one up, bad! They messed up his nose and it made him look goofy instead of the. Suave Stud he is in the series. They did a good job matching everyone else, but they really botched Diablo. Hopefully, this studio will get it right if they are ever put on this series again.

Book vs Anime
5 February 2024
I was surprised to see they are sticking to the books with the pace. I've seen a lot of Book to Anime series over the last 2 years and most of them speed it up. In fact, I think they've ruined 'Berserk of Gluttony' by skipping way too much detail. This one, they are sticking to the pace and detail that was written. It makes sense since DUBU died and this is going to be an homage to him, no offense to Chugong who may be overshadowed here because of a death.

When an Anime Studio gets a hold of content, they make some strange decisions when it comes to time compression or what will/won't be okay with fans. Luckily, we are getting a real good version of the Anime in comparison with the books..........which is the entire reason it's been so popular.

This series has been a success because the story and characters are intelligently written and there is a beginning and an ending that takes a while to get to, but not too long and not the 'Never Ending Story'.

One thing I've noticed, the Studio didn't try to take a Brutal Novel/Manga series and try to make it "Family Friendly" which is happening way too much lately. This is brutal because it's the only way to define the Protagonist's drive and how he ends up. Kudos for keeping most of the brutality of the world Chugong created.

I gave this 10/10 because the story speaks to me and they didn't screw up the Anime.....to this point.

Very Cool!

The animation is something different. It's pretty fantastic graphics. The story lines/plot were well thought out and the series move at a decent pace. Netflix and Riot Games are both winners on this one!

Marvel made yet another mistake by cancelling this one!
5 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This whole Drop Anything not on Disney + fiasco we've been dealing with the last several years is getting to be a real pain in the A$$! Here is another really good Marvel series cancelled because it's not on Disney +. I'm pretty F&$#^&@ sick of this garbage from Disney. I feel like they are just trying to piss off as much of the fan base as possible at this point!

The Equalizer (2021– )

Different, but pretty good!
20 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It took a minute to get used to this. They modified the main plot line quite a bit. Besides the fact "Robert" is now "Robin", McCall is still in and out of the CIA.

I really like Queen Latifah in the lead. She is really easy to watch. She always has been a pretty damn good actress. The supporting cast is really good and makes this work. This almost feels like a "Next Generation" of the nickname "The Equalizer".

I hope CBS will let this keep running. So much is getting cut because of inconsistencies in the industry thanks to COVID and I hope they don't make a strange decision and cut this before giving it 3 seasons to progress.

This has a very "Cop Show" feel to it, yet there is a twist that McCall is a vigilante who technical still does work for the CIA. It creates a situation where you have to ask, would the government even let them stop her? I imagine something like this would be one of those "no one can question her, interrogate her, arrest her, put her on trial"?

Anyway, I do like this series, so far. I want to see more and see how this new story plays out.

Cancelled?! Are the broadcast networks in financial trouble???
3 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of really good series have been cancelled by the "Broadcast" networks since COVID started. I watched shows that were actually renewed get Cancelled and they all seem to be for the same reason.....the Budget is too high?!? This makes me think that the Broadcast companies are paying too much attention to very old practices like "Television Ratings", mostly from Nielsen, who has the worst ratings collection method that has been the same for far too long. With technology today we can see who has watched or played an episode or movie, when they paused it, if they rewatched it, where they watched from, how they watched it, what device, what platform......the list is endless. Just ask Netflix, Hulu, Amazon.....

So, the cost of creating a "Scripted" series has gone up thanks to COVID. Does that mean a cancelled show is not a success?! No! This is all a numbers game. The profit margin was defined with a certain algorithm based on past data. With COVID there was no data so they had to guess. I guarantee you that many, if not all, these shows made money. The problem is, it isn't enough profit based on what they did pre-COVID. Now the studios are trying to hit numbers that don't mean anything anymore. They are trying to match dollar amounts in a comparison of Apples and Oranges. The old numbers or way of doing things will never be what it was. But, Broadcast companies are so set on the old and not making changes that they are now failing to see the success because it doesn't match the Profit Margin Bottom Line they had before. The unfortunate reality, based on their history, is they are slow to change. These cancelled successes will continue over and over until the light bulb goes on for someone at the top.

I was hoping Netflix or Amazon would pick this up, but they just don't have the financial resources to pick up all the Cancelled Successes of the networks. They've saved a few already, but we can't expect them to cover for the Broadcast Networks continued ignorance.

FYI, it was slow with the answers because it WAS planned out. It was a 6 year series. Could they have set it up to move quicker or give some answers along the way? Yes. "Emergence" did that masterfully! We would get answers at least every couple episodes and there would be more questions as well. "Manifest" has been less forthcoming, but it's still been good to keep the action and intrigue up. The thing that sucks is, we are halfway through the Book and now we won't get the second half from the author. Limbo.

Season 7...the end????
28 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Season 7 was awesome, as usual! Nothing to say, but Bosch's LAPD days are now over and it was a great 7 year run.

Now, to the ending. At the end you catch Maddie and Bosch on the deck overlooking the city. Maddie confronts him about quitting. He says he doesn't know what he's going to do next, but in that Bosch way you can tell he has something ups his sleeve and Maddie replies, " I wanna help." Bosch saying "Ok" pretty much confirms he has a plan.

The Book series has him work as a defense investigator for his brother Mickey Haller, The Lincoln Lawyer, played by Matthew McConaughey in the movie.

I don't see Bosch being over. It feels like they are going to take the next steps. I could see a Bosch movie and a spin-off of Maddie going through the Police Academy. I'm almost positive Amazon, or someone else, has thought of next steps. Who knows, maybe we will have a Bosch Universe soon!

Lucifer (2016–2021)

Season 5, Part 2
29 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Stop me if you've heard this one......Satan, the Arch-Angel Michael, the Arch-Angel Amenadele, a human woman and God sit down for a chicken dinner that God cooked and........wait......WHAT?! LMAO

Episode 9 is surreal and it makes you really wonder about the nature of our world.

Once again, the story moves quickly and is entertaining. Dennis Haysbert playing God might have been a perfect choice! Now we have God in the flesh in the mix.

I know they want to wrap the show, but I really hope they don't. It's been really good especially since Netflix took over. I hope they don't end it before at least thinking about a season 6.

It's strange that the "Good Guy" is Lucifer, but that seems "Good" when I say it now. Though, saying "Satan" still feels darkly horrific!

The super amazingly fantastic Zack Snyder version....in 4:3?!
14 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So, they spend all this time and money to do a super awesome version and they make the conscious choice to put it in 4:3?????!!!! Why would you screw it up that way?! I guess the pointless and stupid is the way of the studios, but why would an Artist choose this in today's day and age other than to be different. Dumb mistake by Snyder.

As for the film, this is by far the best version of the film! It would be perfect if he would have left it in the original format instead of chopping it to be 4:3. I could feel the flashbacks of Watchmen in this version. The cool way he put that together, it felt like he took what he learned from Watchmen and used the right pieces to help this story in a unique way.

The irony of what Snyder did here is that we don't know who will be playing the characters fir the next Justice League movie. Batman is being replaced along with Superman. It looked like he did some reshoots and added the Jared Leto Joker back in, but is that who will play the Joker in the JL films moving forward?

Well, it seems that the DC team is a lot less organized than the Marvel team ever was. Hopefully, they can pull a plan together to capitalize off the successes they've had and this film in particular.

Crazy Good Supernatural!
10 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
You know you're about to go on a crazy journey when the "normal" reality part of a Series story is your main characters are African Americans living in the horribly racist 1950's America! The depiction of the just disgusting things that went on towards African Americans, at that time, was enough to make me sick and was absolutely disturbing in itself. Yeah, and that was the "normal".

Once they started throwing in the Supernatural elements, I was already hooked, but then it was a must binge series for me. The plot and storylines went int all different directions, coming at me fast and furious.

Some elements reminded me of American Horror Story while others felt like something from Stephen King. Throw in Lovecraft and you have a hodgepodge of Sci-if/Horror soup!

The acting is superb all the way through. Everyone fits their roles well. With the writers moving the pace along quick enough to never let the story get stagnant.

I hope HBO does another season of this one! It's a crazy ride!

Wow! That's a serious acid trip!
22 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Holy S.......I mean if you like comics and conspiracy theories then you're gonna love this!

I saw an ad for this show and decided to try it. A new series about comics being real and conspiracies all wrapped up together, why not?! I'm glad I tried it!

The whole thing starts off innocent enough. An underground comic has a bit of a cult following of conspiracy nuts and after the sequel is discovered in the house of an inheriting granddaughter, her fiancé decides to make a little money by selling it at a convention. Nerdy? Sure. Then let the chaos rain down! People are dying left and right, the conspiracy turns out to be real and the hero of the story is not only real but she shows up in front of the fans with a gun in her hand and blood on her clothes!

So, I ask again, what's not to like?!

The story moves pretty quick and is almost as warped as the comic. The plot is jammed pack with new story lines at every turn. The acting is well done And both John Cusack and Rain Wilson we're perfect in their roles. They even threw in a few twists at the end!

I hope Amazon keeps the conspiracies going. This one is worth keeping around!

Well Done!
20 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This series reminds me of CBS' Evil, but not riding the "is it supernatural or psychological" line. It's fully supernatural. I'm not sure where this came from at Marvel because this is a Supernatural, Angels and Demons, God vs the Devil type of series. It's more like "Constantine", the Movie not the series, than it is anything else. It does have horror elements, but not a scary movie "it'll freak you out" type of horror. There is a lot of eerie feelings and blood and gore.

Overall, the writers put together a good plot line that keeps moving and keeps you guessing. I'm still not sure if these are what we consider to be actual Demons from Hell or if it's something else. It could be more Marvel's Mutants instead of God and the Devil, but there is an element of body hopping possession through time. I can't wait to find out.

The cast is well put together making the acting pretty good from all the main characters. No one stood out as "they don't fit their role" or anyone who just can't act.

I'm looking forward to a season 2 from Hulu.

Cobra Kai (2018–2025)

Oh yeah! 80's are back! RAD
29 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I love the nostalgia! They did an awesome job of making this a sequel to the original that happens in today's society.

This story works because they really take Johnny and Daniel back to their roots of the original movie. The difference this time is the rich/poor are reversed. Cobra Kai is dead and Jonny turns back to it out of desperation. As a last ditch effort to getting his life back on track, he reopens Cobra Kai.

Larusso has flashbacks of being bullied in high school and tries to prevent the return of Cobra Kai. During all this, they are both dealing with their own children and the struggles of being a parent.

Of course, season 1 leads back the the "Under 18, All Valley, Karate Tournament" that started it all.

So far, this show is top notch. I'm into season 2 now with Krease, Johnny's old sensei, coming into the picture and Larusso opening a Myagi Do School. It's all nostalgic.

On the last note, it's a killer 80's soundtrack!

War of Underworld
16 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, they just keep doing it! They figure out a new plot that is just as good or better than the original. This one has been awesome all the way through. The only thing I can knock them on is they have dragged out the "Catatonic Kirito" thing too long. He just woke up and it took forever, but once he did it's like all was right with the world! Which led me to this thought.....

I have watched so many Anime's. There are several that I tend to watch over and over. "The Irregular at Magic High School", "Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?", any of the "Fate/" series, "Wiseman's Grandchild", "Arifureta", "Chivalry of a Failed Knight" and so on and so on......But let me ask you this, when you think of all the things Kirito has down and who he is as a character and all he has survived.......Has there ever been a better Hero character? Think about it. Food for thought.

The Umbrella Academy (2019–2024)

So......Season 2!
1 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, binged it. Season 1 had the cliffhanger of the end of the world in 2019 and Five time jumped them to save them all. Where'd they go? They didn't tell us until Season 2.

They did a good job of tying in plot lines from Season 1 to Season 2. Everything lined up from Fives travels before Vanya destroyed the world at the end is S1.

S2, Five screws up the time jump again and they all get delivered to the same place spread across 1960-1963.

So, what could possibly be the major problem this time around? The end of the world, of course. This time, though, it happens in 1963 and is from Russian and then American nukes.......right?

Like S1, S2 is whitty and fun with a lot more crazy action. Vanya has amnesia from a car accident after showing up in the '60s and can't remember her past. They tied in social injustice in the '60s Texas before JFK arrived.....really good timing since we have similar things happening today.....and good old Dad pops in as one of the leaders of a Shadow Government. Plus, everyone's favorite psychopath, The Handler, shows her daughter, who she stole because the girl was born Oct 1, 1989 and has powers.

Once again, it's entertaining and there are so many plot lines it really keeps you busy. Klaus the new Guru Cult Leader with Ben as his conscience is very entertaining. Diego is still an idiot, though less so than Luther, and is now in love with The Handler's daughter. Vanya's a mess, as always, and we find out she didn't directly end the world this time, but something she does sets off WW3.

In the end, I enjoyed it again. They pack a lot into this series so it never gets boring. Time travel always makes it fun.

Finally, they seem to have saved the world and go back to their own time, 2019. This time wee get to seem them all land in the lobby of the Academy HQ.......but something has changed. Dad is alive and didn't create the Umbrella Academy. Instead he's created the Sparrow Academy and Ben, the dead brother, is it's leader. "Oh S@&$" is where it's left. FYI, we did find out that Dad is an Alien, which explains a lot!

I hope they do a season 3. I want to see where they are going with this now. I think they have a winner here. Reminds me of a different variation of DC's Doom Patrol.

Hanna (2019–2021)
8/10
Wasn't sure where they were going to go
6 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the movie with Eric Bana, Cate Blantchett and Saoirse Ronan. I knew that Season 1 of Amazon's Series would be, more or less, a replay of the movie much like Snowpiercer and His Dark Materials have been. The big question for me was where would they take season 2 because it had to be a new story.

Season 2 has an interesting plot. Since season 1 followed the Jason Bourne, Salt, Red Sparrow and Hitman type of plot lines, I guess it only made sense to take us to the school of genetically altered super soldier young girls that would run missions under the guise of college students. The biggest twist from the movie and to season 2 is that Marisa Vieglar isn't the major bad-woman that Hanna sees as the Devil and her murder the reason for living. At the end of season 2 it's now Marisa that seems to feel like Hanna is her reason for living with a new sect in the CIA, who wants to assassinate young leaders, maneuvering to take over world control giving Hanna and Marisa a major goal.

The end of Season 2 did leave me wanting more as Marisa and Hanna have manipulated Dermont Mulroney's character into letting them basically take over the school. Of course, he will report everything is normal and moving as scheduled to the powers that be out of fear for his own existence. Now that this new "Illuminati" is deceived, Marisa and Hanna can use the army of Super Soldier college girls to stop them.

I'm looking forward to Season 3. So often it is Season 3 that makes or breaks a series and it is very evident that will be the case for Hanna Season 3.

The Twilight Zone (2019–2020)

Just watch Season 2
6 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Look, people freaked out about season 1 and most of it was about it not being scary, but for the most part it never was. I would say that besides the Shatner Airplane episode, which wasn't scary for me, that was then redone in the 80's movie with John Lithgow and scared the life out of me......I still have to put the shutter down especially on night flights.....The Twilight Zone was a thought provoking "What If" series meant to make people think, wonder and feel creepy or uncomfortable.

Season 1 was good but felt like it was a "feeling out" period. Almost a "can we do this?" trial run. I just finished Season 2 and, with the exception of episode 10's Campy Ridiculousness, I loved all of it. This felt like Jordan Peale's version of The Twilight Zone. These pretty much had it all. I was impressed because I was expecting half would be good and the other half would be mediocre to lame. I was pretty impressed they could make 9 of 10 good or better than good. I hope CBS keeps this going!

Hmmm. This was canceled and Vagrant Queen is on?!
23 May 2020
Yeah, I liked this one a lot! It's brutal and has a lot of great potential for the characters. To me, it looked like everyone else loved it.

I'm still confused by what SyFy is doing with there shows. They are cancelling good ones, they basically let The Expanse go to Amazon and it did because it was a proven hit, and they are putting up crap shows. I've watched 4 episodes of Vagrant Queen and it is horrible! I was in shock to see them stop Channel Zero. That was on brand horror anthology I felt could compete with American Horror Story, the reboot of The Twilight Zone and Apples new Amazing Stories.

I think the people in charge at SyFy need to be replaced across the board. Something isn't working over there and they need new ideas and some kind of intelligent plan for new series that take the channel in the right direction. Reality TV and Campy Sci-Fi Space series aren't cutting it. Next thing you know this series will be picked up by Netflix and they'll cancel The Magicians! SMH!!!!

Honestly, I don't do musicals, but....
4 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show is different. They used technology and an accident to explain why Zoey can hear people sing and it really worked. The idea there is a chance that could happen was all it took.

The show itself is well written. The music is very cool and runs the gamut of genres. The show also runs the gamut of emotions. I knew music had a lot of influence on us human beings, but watching this show made me realize just how much music affects us and is in all our lives. This show is fun, funny, heart warming, sad, ironic, joyful, epically tragic, blissful and nostalgic.

For me, this hits home because I work in the software industry and worked my way up to running things. I know a lot of the work life they talk about and show. I've also been through a lot of the personal experiences they've had on the show. I feel like one of my devs was telling of of my stories to a writer. Lol!

I recommend this show to anyone to try once, even if you don't like musicals. This can feel weird at first, but it gets to be fun. At least give it a try.

Bosch (2014–2021)

Another Season down and still the best!
19 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After watching season 6, it's still the best cop series! The other thing I noticed is that I'm not bored with it. The story is always something different and the writers keep the change to just the right amount, I mean you don't see Bosch running around with an MP5K instead of his 1911.

Like all the other seasons, this one has the multiple show storylines as well as the season storylines as well as the individual episode storylines all tied in. I binged all 10 episodes and, as usual, wanted there to be an episode 11.

I've watched a lot of crime and police dramas from NYPD Blue to Cops to the first 48 to NCIS and so on. More recently there have been the shows for who's "Running LA" cop dramas like Deputy and Tommy. First, the Broadcast Networks can't compete with the real world language that Amazon is free to use. Second, everything about those shows has a gimmick like Deputy with the strange death clause in the LA charter. Finally, the don't have an environment that seems like a real workplace, cubes and solid door conference rooms. Bosch is not only the best show but he's also the best character. When you watch him he feels real and so do the rest of the characters. The workspaces look like the spaces I'd see in the First 48. It just feels like real life. Funny fact, I use to live behind one of the precincts in LA and the parking lot with the gate was exactly like what they show on Bosch.

Anyway, to Amazon, Keep It Up! Love this show!

Altered Carbon (2018–2020)

Season 2 was good, but not Great!
2 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So, I gave season 1 a 10. For me it was everything you want in a Sci-Fi Action Epic. It had the awesome Sci-Fi Tech. The language was Real, meaning they cussed like normal people do. There were great storylines with plot twists inside of plot twist and even the artistic with characters like Poe! And then there was action! Lots and lots of action with gore galore! If someone got shot in the head it was up in your face.

I didn't get why I saw such low marks for Season 1. The idea was awesome and the plot was was well done. The acting was spectacular, I mean Joel Kinnaman kicked serious A$$!

When I saw season 2 coming and Anthony Mackie was playing the lead, which makes sense with the Sleeve(body) switching, I was excited. I like Mackie in the Avengers movies. Then, I found out the plot was going back to Kovac's home planet, what's not to like?!

This was good by itself, but I docked a star because compared to season 1 this was just a let down. Season 1 had major plot lines all happening at once and then crossing and twisting, you were never really caught in one single plot line until the end when the others had ended or wrapped into the final one. Season 2 is just one major plot line and all the others are just tiny little minor additions. So, while it was good, it was a letdown from season 1.

I didn't think the acting was bad. It was as all really good, but it felt boring because I kept remembering season 1.

So, I felt like Season 1 was a 7(ish) hour Big Screen Big Budget Movie. Season 2 felt like a Sci-Fi Action Series on a streaming network.

Worth the time, but I hope they do a Season 3 and get back to the way Season 1 felt to redeem themselves. Call Season 2 the middle movie of a Trilogy and now bring on the Epic End!

An Espionage Version of "Fringe"
28 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is good. I see what they mean by too "Male" for the reason they cancelled it, but I wish they wouldn't have.

Fringe was very Sci-Fi/Techie. This is more of an Espionage version of the same storyline. I don't mind it because it's different enough that it's still new story. I don't feel like they just did a copy of it.

I would write more, but the series was cancelled for a pretty dumb reason. Starz wanted their shows to be focused toward women instead of men. This was too male. End of series.

Awesome new way to see Star Trek
16 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, bring back a 79 year old actor as a Sci-Fi Action Star?!?!........Well, it works!

Only Picard could do this as a character. It's pretty cool to see all the ingrained Next Generation storylines like the Borg and the Cube. The Romulians(?) the way they have been depicted throughout the Next Generation show and movies. Having the original cast coming in and out and as part of the new storyline is like icing on the cake.

The perspective of the show isn't centered around Star Fleet like every other series or movie. This is new to see it from the perspective of characters on the outside of it. Instead of being out in space there is a lot happening on 24th Century Earth. I like this Sci-Fi action series that is developed in the Star Trek universe but is totally different from what you would normally see.

I'm 3 episodes in and I've been holed since the first shot of Picard.......and I wouldn't call myself a Trekkie by any means!

Pretty Good! I hate cliffhangers!
9 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I'm guessing this was the desired affect. The house is awesome, The keys are amazing and I absolutely HATED the baddie! Mission accomplished.

This is kind of a "Harry Potter" feeling and it includes the magic. It would be awesome to know you were part of a family that held secrets of magic. The idea behind the Keys is really quite smart. There can always be more keys and since they can do anything, it pretty much makes it infinite possibilities.

The storylines and the acting are all great. You won't find a slip up with any of the cast, though I feel like Uncle Duncan, played by Aaron Ashmore, could have been more and hopefully will be moving forward. Laysla De Oliveira As Dodge/Echo was perfect! I can't believe how much I hated her and it was right from the start! I wanted to see her get a real brutal end......but alas, I ran into the fact that such a great baddie was going to escape and be back. The only thing I hated about the series was the massive cliffhanger of an ending and the fact the baddie just plain outsmarted everyone! It's a good thing to feel this way because that's what the writers wanted but......10 episodes and almost 9 hours waiting to see her get what she deserved only to see her get away was painful!

So, if you like Supernatural stuff, this is a good watch!
