Dead Boy Detectives (2024)
Luved the show so much, hoping for 2nd season
This was sooooo much better than I expected!! I started it with no particular expectation knowing it isn't exactly the type of series I'm used to watching but wow!! I binged it in a day this was so good! The story is good obviously but they did amazing with the characters like all of them are so interesting and likable it's so easy to get attached to them, some series don't manage to do that even when the plot is interesting. Also I gotta say the more you get into the story the better it becomes. Ep 1 was fun but a little messy if I have to be honest but then it got better and better and I'm so incredibly glad I decided to start it.
Baby Reindeer (2024)
Best show i've watched recently !
It was hilarious. I haven't laughed that hard in years, especially considering I had a stalker and so many of the events mirrored my own life. Especially the actions of friends and family who unintentionally, made my stalkers actions worse. And then there's the final 2 episodes. Someone on Youtube, by the name Lady_Brompton articulated her thoughts in a way, which is much better than I can express. She said, "Baby Reindeer is an undeniably bingeworthy masterpiece! But what truly sets it apart is that we get to see the psychological complexity of being groomed, abused, stalked through the eyes of a man - a perspective sadly often overlooked. It shines a light in that dirty corner that no one wants to look at. I'm sure a lot of people who lived in the shadows of their own shame will finally feel seen" Thanks Richard Gadd, and Jessica Gunning, and those who help others who've seen and witnessed abuse, to feel seen, and validated.
Ripley (2024)
Incredible unique adaptation
Absolutely incredibly unique interpretation on the "Ripley" character and his story. This production was grounded as much in the sounds as the visual. Maybe more. The creaks, and clanking of metal, the sound of footfall on wood or marble, the ever present slosh of water from the deep, or the groaning of a boat or a ship, as if Tom felt like he might slip under at any time. This Tom is not going around thinking he is smarter than everyone else. This Tom Ripley is almost crushed by all the weight of the shifting world around him. At almost every turn, some statue is pointing a direction, or staring down at him, watching him from around a corner... He becomes more and more isolated as the world around him crowds him out. Of course it's slow going if you don't sense all this undercurrent visual and aural activity!
3 Body Problem (2024)
Don't listen to the haters, and see it your self
I think it is a great adaptation of the book. If all adaptations were exactly like the original, then what would be the difference in the movies and shows that are produced? Overall, It is very suited for the wider audience who will not have the patience to watch the tencent series or read the books. There is enough mystery and excitement to keep people following the show. The visuals of the VR game is amazing. Engrossing television show with an interesting twist on the usual 1st contact scifi story, big action sequences, and great performances by most of the actors. Would have liked a more even pacing across all episodes (it slows down in the 2nd half). Cant wait for Season 2.
The Gentlemen (2024)
Brilliant, fun, impressive show!!
Guy Ritchie has grown out of his madcap frenetic ways and delivered a piece of more mature and refied quality. It may not be as shock inducing or bombastic as his film offerings, but it is all the better for it. I was sad to leave this world whe the last episode ended. Always a good sign. It's stylish and very pleasant to watch. Excellent dialogues, great cast ensemble, and a perfect combination of class and crass, as usual with Guy Ritchie. For those who enjoy the director (as I do), you will immediatly identify his universe: gentlemen and bad boys, taken in the same spiral of darkness and doom.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
This's already become one of my best shows!!
Amazing storytelling, this might be different from the animation in quite a few ways but it still feels like ATLA, the visuals, the surroundings, the costumes, the worldbuilding, the creature designs and not to mention the phenomenal soundtracks courtesy of Takeshi Furukawa and his amazing team. Sure there were some iffy moments and some scenes to nitpick but not enough to take me out of the story . Don't expect it to be a copy paste of the animated show. Extremely hard to pull off a live action Avatar and they have done about as good as you possibly can. I really hope this show be a big hit so we can see more seasons !
One Day (2024)
One of the best romantic shows!
One of the best things I've seen in a while , Binged it over the weekend, brilliantly acted , their magnetic chemistry pulls you in and makes you feel as though you were right there with them. And with a soundtrack so sublime , it had me laughing, weeping and smiling, with a perfect level of nostalgia and incredible acting that makes you binge in the entire show in one sitting. Love how they portray friendship and love and the end is absolutely as heart-breaking as in the film and book. One of those shows that will stay with you for a while after it's finished. Just brilliant.
If you like depth, if you like love, just watch it.
Boy Swallows Universe (2024)
Absolutely brilliant
Some great Aussie humour, good acting, familiar local areas around Brisbane, magpies singing, such a tough journey for kids born into poverty and hopeless parents - druggies and drug dealers. The grit and determination of the 2 brothers helped them survive, several stories of the adults in their lives letting them down, facing their demons and rising above them sometimes, some rough diamonds giving the boys support when needed etc. The boys surviving and rising out of poverty and crime. Such a rich story with real, gritty yet tender characters, it had me from the first episode right to the last. Trent Dalton's award winning book was well portrayed in the series. I loved every moment, and it brought me back to 1980's Brisbane, where I grew up. Absolutely brilliant.
The Brothers Sun (2024)
Incredible show
Perfect mix of action, comedy, wholesome(ish) stuff, and absolutely incredible acting. Michelle Yeoh is, well, her; an absolutely incredible performer, and I really hope this gets a second season, already called my friends to tell them about it. It was a surprise to me it was also a comedy as I hasn't read much about it. I heard Michelle Yeoh was in it, so that was enough for me. It was funny at times, then serious with some brutal but excellent fighting scenes. The dude that plays Charles is a sight for sore eyes, as well as a good actor. They are all very good to be fair. I cannot see how it won't be recommissioned for a 2nd series. Let's hope so!!
Yu yu hakusho (2023)
Impressive work
I m so suprise and amazingly they short and summarized the episodes of the movie for my own.opinion this is perfect. Treat it as if it's a 2 part movie. I wished they could've shorten some of the fight scenes and focus more on character development. It's only a short 5 episodes but damn.. it's so good!!! Better than One Piece live action, honestly. The fight scenes choreography blended so well with digital doubles. I wished all anime live action fights are like this!!!
Along side One Piece, another successful live adaptation in the books for me.
I hope they renew it to second season. We want more of YuYu Hakusho.
Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice of Blood (2023)
Mind blowing!
Great movie. Loved the cinematic scenes. CGI was awesome apart from some scene where it felt it could be better. The character building of main character girl Kora is amazing. Loved it. But other characters where short on their build up. About the team they all teamed up so quickly, i thought it would take a bit more convincing to recruit them. And their aims are so bad .they are top notch fighters arnt they. Overall, these are just some things which i dont say are bad but could have been better to have. Loved this movie, hyped to the build up. This universe is going to be epic. Highly Recommended!
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (2023)
Wonderful!
Absolutely masterful, flawless captures the comedy and style of the graphic novels into a beautiful and utterly unique show. As an enormous fan of anything Scott Pilgrim I can see how people who haven't read the comics AND seen the movie would find this show pretty confusing, it's absolutely made for Scottaholics. A lot of the other reviews complain about it having not a lot of Scott himself but as a massive fan of Ramona, all of Scotts friends, and the evil exes I could absolutely not be happier.
The animation is on a whole other level.
I absolutely loved it I definitely would recommend it to anyone even if you haven't read the books or seen the film..
Pluto (2023)
Wonderful work
This an absolute masterpiece of anime, the world of animation and storytelling. Everything about this series is perfection; the details of animation and sounds; the profound themes and complex plot. What is absolutely amazing about Pluto, is the fact that they just didn't simply drop Astroboy in episode 1; instead, they built up to that moment in which the most perfect robot appears. In the meantime, parallel stories and characters are introduced, full of drama and power, filling this anime anime with a great storytelling, effects and deeply emotional burdens . A must watch!
10/10 totally recommend.
All the Light We Cannot See (2023)
Don't listen to the Haters
This is my all time favorite book and I loved the mini series! As the director, Shawn Levy said "The book is the mountain. The mountain will always exist. Long after us, the mountain will be here. We did a painting of that mountain. We're not trying to replace it. We're not trying to make a photograph or a Xerox. It's our impression of that mountain." He also says "the heart of the story in both its ideas and characters are faithful to Anthony Doerr's creation," he continued. "To have Anthony be as thrilled as he is with this finished product of the series, that is the most gratifying thing that's happened." I encourage you to read his interview on deadline.com. It will give you great insight into this amazing work! I particularly love how he selected the actresses who played Marie-Laure! I loved the book and the mini series!
Blue Eye Samurai (2023)
WHAT A RIDE !
I absolutely enjoyed this. As as soon as I started watching it I could not stop. I finished watching within a day of starting it. Every single scene had something in store for you. (Even the spicy scenes haha!) The story line was so interesting, and the fight scenes were so good! I truly hope there will be a season 2. After all, Mizu hasn't gotten his revenge yet. I am also dying to see if "he" will ever find another lover. I 10/10 recommend.. what are you still doing reading this?? GO WATCH IT!
Netflix on fire with anime's lately , I hope they continue with this quality shows , there's still maybe 4 anime show this mouth only , really great work.
Bodies (2023)
Very Unique Show!
A captivating and enigmatic series, sometimes predictable yet never losing its charm. It keeps you engaged, compelling you to watch episode after episode until the end. It recaptures the enchantment of the great series "Dark" but with a plot and relationships that are less convoluted, sparing you from confusion. Completely original unique must see plot. Excellent Acting, It's a wow, I binge watched the whole season in one day. This is something I do not do to often! I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
I Wish of there was a season 2 , great idea and plot like this need to continue.
The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
Well Done Mike And NETFLIX
Such a piece!!!
This was a great ending of a deal with Netflix, all Mike Flanagan's projects (except Mid club) was remarkable on my memorie, hill house change my brain quimic on every Rerun since her was dropped, Midnight Mass has all my 2021 tears forever, Bly manor too.
This Last project I call Carla Gugino's show what a performer she's killing here on every episode (literally) and I found poetic the Mike flanagan put her on center at the Beginning and in the End.
I'm looking forward for the next projects of him with Prime video, I hope for more Ghost Stories.
And I hope Guillermo del Toro do the same with Netflix.
One Piece (2023)
Wow! Just Big Wow!!
GREAT ADAPTATION! As an old-school fan (since 2006) I can say that this was made with love for old fans and new fans! Welcome to the grand line! Next stop! The new world! I want season 2, 3, 4, 5! Etc Make it happen Netflix! You should be working on Chopper, looking for Robin, Ace, and Vivi... The cast is great, and the locations and CGI are on point! The small changes are OK, and it does not feel like forced. The chemistry is natural, and the scripts are well made.... as Oda-san said "This is good and can be better", I will watch this several times and with the different dubs! ENJOY NAKAMAS!!
Sanyanggaedeul (2023)
Mind blowin!
Holy Molly BloodHounds Is So Good People, This Is DANGEROUSLY Close To Beating My Name and Squid Game As best Korean Series . I love the chemistry of the main duo, they go well together and have the same values which makes them bond quickly. The drama is fun and not too long, perfect for a day at binge watch de I admit that I was shocked by some scenes which were surprisingly violent (I'm not talking about the fight scenes but more scenes like end of episode 1 or in episode 5) given the light atmosphere that we can have at certain times. Overall, I really liked this drama!
Go watch it all of you , totally recommend.
Sankuchuari -seiiki- (2023)
Amazing !!
Netflix better give us the second season, or else! This is a rare diamond among the garbage they've been putting out these days, and I binged it in 2 days despite the busy schedule. Kudos to the writer and director, as well as the cast, especially the female reporter and Enya, they were marvelous! I also hope to see how Enno develops both his sumo further, and his love life. A fresh idea with strong character development that has you rooting for the underdog. Fun and exciting look into the world of a sumo wrestler. I really enjoyed this series, binge watching. It really deserves another season TV.
The Diplomat (2023)
Wow I can't get enough!
This is the highest quality show I've seen come out of Netflix in a long time. The writing is tight, smart, and generally on point. The characters are suitably complex and imperfect. The story's a little predictable at times, but it flows and keeps you engaged without too many eye rolls... a Homeland-type run shouldn't be out of the question.
The relationship dynamics between Kate and Hal anchoring the piece with solid performances from supporting cast, really really hoping we get another season,at least,of this!!
We got -beef- before and now -the diplomat- in the same month , Netflix is in The right bath , and I hope they keep cocking more of these quality shows.
Beef (2023)
Awesome!
Superb!! I am still shook by that finale, it was a wild and emotional ride; the beauty and rage on each episode, the complexity and raw showcasing of real human emotions. The longing for companionship and the fear to be discovered, to be seen, unearthed, our feelings like cadavers, bloated and misshapen, just waiting to see ourselves in somebody else. This is a story like I've never seen before, with characters that transcend race, age, sex, class, and everything else that separates us from one another.
I hope the show gets what it deserves , they deserve an Emmy both of them Ali Wong and Steven Yeun .
A must watch .!
1899 (2022)
I don't understand why the low rating ?!
I was shocked when I saw the rating just 8.1 and of course well drop more , but why!
I get it maybe most of you was disappointed after the long waiting , but definitely don't deserve that much hate !.
It was well made, and to me it almost perfect.
1899 pulled me in almost immediately and I became totally engrossed trying to understand the characters, strange events, and cryptic messages that happen throughout the story. You quickly learn that nothing is what it seems, and you remain mystified as to what is really going on. Numerous characters draw the wrong conclusions, blaming innocent people out of fear, bias or ignorance. To me this was cerebral mystery storytelling at its best, similar to Dark (which I loved), but not as frustrating as Dark. Be prepared to question everything, and, despite your best efforts, be misled. The cast is excellent and the cinematography is superb.
Stranger Things: Chapter Nine: The Piggyback (2022)
Netflix At Its Best!
What a masterpiece season , its just keeps getting better and better , every season adds new ideas to the show , and I can't get enough of it , hopefully we got spinoff to this show.
The Lincoln Lawyer (2022)
brilliant.!!!
I Don't know why all the hate on this series , in my opinion it was excellent and well made , funny , unique , fresh , and keep you guessing , and the most important thing is , it was fast paced , defiantly worth 10/10.
