The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G7 - Timberwolves vs Nuggets (2024)
R2G7 - Wolves @ Nuggets, May 19 2024.
Porter with a nice block on Gobert at the basket early, likewise McDaniels on Gordon. Not sure why Denver's forcing Murray when he has elite defense on him. He starts making late in the term and the Nuggets take a 5-point lead to the quarter break. Denver continues a run through the 2nd, with Murray continuing to roll. Towns keeping the Wolves in touch. Braun a nice transition block, the Nuggets up 15 at halftime. Edwards having a nightmare game, I suppose that's why they force Murray early despite missing, so he has rhythm. Porter off and Minnesota on a run, with consecutive 3's. Jokic missing, Edwards the steal and dunk and then the step-back 3, cutting the deficit to 1 going into the last. Jokic can't make an open 3, the Wolves go ahead. Jokic doesn't stop taking them though and eventually makes. Gobert makes a miracle shot, Jokic another 3. Reid big down the stretch with Towns in foul trouble. Minnesota goes up double-digits and advance to the Conference Finals. Neither team shot well, Denver better from field, the Wolves better from 3 and more production at the line. Both teams took care of the ball, Minnesota just 7 turnovers and the Wolves +3 on the boards. McDaniels like G6, an efficient 23 points, 6 boards, 4 offensive and 2 steals, with no turnovers. Towns 23 points, 12 boards and 2 steals. Edwards played great defense and setup others, but 6 of 24 from the field. For Denver, Murray 35 points. Jokic 34 points, 7 assists and 19 boards, 6 offensive. The rest of the team 8 of 28 from the field, for just 21 points.
3. (Min) J. McDaniels, 2. (Min) K. Towns, 1. (Den) J. Murray.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Final - Luke Humphries vs Michael Smith (2024)
2024 Premier League - W16 - Final - Humphries vs M.Smith
Smith's only night win coming back in week one. Michael with multiple misses and Humphries gets the first break and then hits the Big Fish! Smith then with a 140 checkout and then 96 to break, evening it up and then going ahead. Smith breaks again to throw for the match and wins it 6-3, winning 5 legs on the trot, to claim king of the hill. Also against a player in Humphries who has had his way with Smith in recent times. Smith averaging 100 and 40% on the doubles, Humphries averaging 95 and just 25% on the doubles. Each player with three 180's apiece, Humphries twenty 100+ throws to Smith's sixteen.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Semi-Final - Luke Humphries vs Michael van Gerwen (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - SF - Humphries vs van Gerwen.
A dead rubber, but a preview of the Playoff matchup. Humphries with a 12-darter in the opening leg and then breaks. Humphries with another 12-dart 142 checkout. He's just bang bang, doesn't miss. No opportunities given on his throw and he goes on to win it, 6-3. Humphries averaging 104 and a quality 75% on the doubles, van Gerwen averaging a not too shabby 101 and a quality 50% on the doubles. Humphries with four 180's to van Gerwen's two, each player with eighteen 100+ throws apiece. The level Humphries is playing in contrast to an under performing MVG over the course of the Premier League, it's hard to see the 7-time winner knocking off Humphries, but you never know.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Semi-Final - Michael Smith vs Luke Littler (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - Semi-Final - M.Smith vs Littler.

Smith breaks back to get on the board, Littler right back. Smith with a 156 checkout break, then a 120 checkout. Smith comfortably breaks again. Both with plenty of misses in the 9th-leg, goes to a deciding leg, Smith with the throw. Michael wins it, 6-5, getting the better of Littler once more, coming back from 1-4 here. Littler with the higher average of 93 despite losing and 33% on doubles, Smith averaging 91 and just 24% on doubles. Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Michael van Gerwen vs Rob Cross (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - van Gerwen vs Cross.
Basically another dead rubber here, Cross having played consistent darts throughout, but out of the Premier League race. Van Gerwen misses a break opportunity in the opening leg and it's Cross who ends up getting the first break. Rob then takes out a 104 checkout, van Gerwen breaks back, with a combo finish then another combo finish. Both miss and van Gerwen breaks again and goes on to win it, 6-4. Van Gerwen averaging a strong 106 and and a quality 50% on the doubles, Cross averaging 96 and 36% on the doubles. Van Gerwen with two 180's to Rob's one, Michael with twenty-four 100+ throws to Cross with twenty.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Luke Humphries vs Gerwyn Price (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - Humphries vs Price.
Basically a dead rubber here. Price breaks in the opening leg, then follows with a 12-darter. Price stops Humphries in his tracks with another 12-darter, Humphries an 11-darter right back. Luke gets a comfortable break to even it up, despite multiple misses. Humphries fortunate to hold in the 9th-leg with Price missing. Luke comfortably breaks again, to win it 6-4, with Price falling away late. Humphries averaging 94 and just 29% on the doubles, with 10 more attempts, Price averaging 91 and 36% on doubles. Gerwyn with three 180's to Humphries with two, each player with twenty-two 100+ throws apiece.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Michael Smith vs Nathan Aspinall (2024)
2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - M.Smith vs Aspinall.
The last deciding game to make the Playoffs, though the prize of facing either Littler or Humphries not the most enticing prospect. Both players hold throw all the way until the 8th-leg, where Smith takes out a big bull-bull 132 checkout to break and thus throw for the match. Smith getting it done, 6-3, Aspinall just missing out on the Playoffs once again. Smith averaging 99 and an exceptional 75% on the doubles, he had a 136 checkout in there as well, Aspinall averaging 92 and 30% on the doubles. Nathan with two 180's to Smith with zero, Michael with twenty-three 100+ throws to Aspinall's eighteen.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Peter Wright vs Luke Littler (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - Wright vs Littler.
In Sheffield. Littler having dominated the Premier League, while the 2x World Champion has struggled like never before. Peter though with a bull-finish to hold in the opening leg. Wright hits tops-tops to hold again. Littler showing off, needlessly goes tops-tops-tops to get the first break. Wright an 11-dart hold and hanging in there, but in the end Littler takes the match 6-4. Littler averaging 97 and 46% on the doubles, Wright averaging 93 and a quality 80% on doubles, with just the 5 attempts. Littler with three 180's to Wright's two, Peter with twenty-four 100+ throws to Luke's twenty-two.
NBA on ESPN: NBA Playoffs - R2G6 - Nuggets vs Timberwolves (2024)
R2G6 - Nuggets @ Wolves, May 16 2024.
Denver up 3-2, Conley back in for Minnesota. The Nuggets start well, but the Wolves go on a 20-0 run and take a 17-point lead to the quarter break, with Denver putting up just 14. The Nuggets can't make a 3, but getting offensive boards and Jokic starts taking it into multiple bodies and converting tough shots. They continue to miss open shots though and Minnesota up 19 at the half. McDaniels making a significant offensive contribution as well, along with the stellar defense. Stop saying that player "is shaken up" Ruocco, it's a stupid meaningless Mike Breen'ism to absolutely everything. The Wolves up 25 going into the 4th. They quickly blowout the lead even further, sending it to a game 7. Minnesota shot better and with more production at the line, with the Nuggets just 30% from the field. The Wolves took better care of the ball, with just 6 turnovers, Minnesota +19 on the boards. McDaniels with an efficient 21 points, 8 of 10 from the field, with 2 blocks and no turnovers. Edwards 27 points and 3 steals, just 1 turnover. Conley 13 points, 5 assists and no turnovers. Gobert and Towns 27 boards between them. For Denver, Jokic 22 points and 9 boards, 5 offensive. Gordon 12 points, 8 boards and 3 blocks.
3. (Min) J. McDaniels, 2. (Min) A. Edwards, 1. (Den) N. Jokic.

Merrett with the good intercept and goal, the Bombers lead by 12 at quarter-time. Zurhaar with a contested mark in the goal-square to start the 2nd and converts. Essendon's kicks inside 50 are of quality and Guelfi goals on the angle. Zane Duursma goals after the halftime siren, bringing the deficit back to 7. The Bombers kick the lead back out in the 3rd, North winning the ball and doing a good job negating key players, but not getting it on the scoreboard. Wright on song and Jakey goals from 50, Essendon out to a commanding 45-point 3-quarter time lead and home comfortably, by 40. North handily won the hit-outs and were +14 in the clearances, with an equal amount of the footy, Essendon applying 14 more tackles. Saturday Afternoon AFL: Round 10 - St Kilda vs Fremantle (2024)
Stk vs Frem, at Marvel Stadium.
Owens kicks the opener for the Saints, then Dow dribbles one through from the boundary in his debut for the club. Johnson gets the Dockers on the board late in the term, Voss with good moments and a goal, Freo up 8 at quarter-time. Owens takes a good grab and converts in the 2nd. Dubious free to Henry right in front, King can't convert as usual, Walters hurting Fremantle as usual, but they still lead by 3 at the half. Caminiti kicks back to back goals early in the 3rd. The Dockers winning field position in the term, but wasteful and it's all square at 3-quarter time. Freo continues to miss, Marshall with a good goal-save on the line. The Dockers get some separation in the end and kick home, by 17 points. Freo marginally won the hit-outs and were +17 in the clearances, with more of the footy via handball, with 21 more tackles applied. The Dockers had 8 more inside 50's, for 13 more scoring shots, but poor on goal. Marshall best afield for the losing side, with 31 disposals, 2 contested marks, 39 hit-outs, 8 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 9 tackles and 6 intercepts. Saturday Afternoon AFL: Round 10 - GWS vs W-Bulldogs (2024)
Gws vs Wb, at ENGIE Stadium.
Wet conditions, Kelly out for the Giants. The ball going nowhere early, with rain falling, neither team getting anything going, never mind scoring. Greene kicks the opener for the Giants late in the opening term. A questionable mark paid to Hogan and he slots it. The Dogs goalless at quarter-time, GWS leads by 8. The umpire decides to gift Ugle-Hagan a goal for nothing, bit suspicious, sending Kingsley into a fit of rage, the Dogs soon hit the lead. Ward kicks the wrong way to setup a Dogs goal, the conditions improving. Hogan slots his third, robbed of a fourth. Naughton misses from right in front, Darcy marks and goals after the halftime siren though, the Dogs up 5. Ugle-Hagan given another free for nothing, misses though. No scoring again in the 3rd, the Giants goalless, the Dogs up 14 going into 3-quarter time. The season starting to get away from the Giants after being Premiership favourites earlier. The Dogs conversion woeful, but it's still more than enough. GWS won the hit-outs, the Dogs +8 in the clearances, the Giants with more of the footy and still 24 more tackles applied. The Dogs with 20 more inside 50's though, for 11 more scoring shots. Treloar best afield, with 35 disposals, 23 contested, 6 clearances and 10 intercepts. Richards 27 disposals, 10 clearances, 9 inside 50's, 673 metres gained and an assist. Bontempelli 18 disposals, 2 contested marks, 7 clearances, 8 inside 50's and 5 tackles. Friday Night Football: Round 10 - Sir Doug Nicholls Round Week 1: Sydney vs Carlton - The Marn Grook Game (2024)
Syd vs Carl, at the SCG.
Cerra out for Carlton, McCartin Sydney. McGovern kicks the opener from 50 for the Blues and Curnow the next. McKay follows, but then misses from the goal-square like back to last season. Hayward with good finishing gets Sydney on the board late in the opening term, but Walsh the instant reply. Jordon right back though and Papley another in a flurry, Carlton leads by just 9 at quarter-time. Amartey a big aerial threat, puts Sydney ahead. The Blues goalless in the 2nd-term, after kicking the first 4, find themselves down 14 at the half. Weitering having injured himself earlier is subbed out. Curnow kicks the opener of the 3rd, but the Swans instantly kick two back. Sydney starts kicking them straight of the middle, Warner and Heeney destroying Carlton. A smashing in the term, up 45 at 3-quarter time. Another one-sided affair, pretty much over in the 3rd. Williams with a good chase down tackle and converts, but again Heeney with the instant reply and the Swans go on to win by 52 points. Sydney dominated the hit-outs, were +4 in the clearances, had a bit more of the footy and still applied 22 more tackles. The Swans with 11 more inside 50's, for a crazy 16 more scoring shots. Heeney best afield once more, with 24 disposals, 2 contested marks, 5 clearances, 6 inside 50's, 8 tackles, 3 goals and an assist. Warner 28 disposals, 5 inside 50's, 561 metres gained, 3 goals and 3 assists. Rowbottom 19 disposals, 6 clearances, a crazy 16 tackles, 5 intercepts, a goal and an assist. Grundy 21 disposals, 32 hit-outs, 7 clearances, 8 tackles and an assist.
3. (Syd) I. Heeney, 2. (Syd) C. Warner, 1. (Syd) J. Rowbottom.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past Part II (1993)
Days Of Future Past Part II
In Days Of Future Past - Part II, Bishop believes that the assassin he's come back in time to stop is Gambit. The X-men go to Washington D. C. to try and stop the assassination themselves leaving Gambit, Bishop and Wolverine back at the mansion. Gambit takes off to Washington D. C. to prove he's not the assassin.
It sounds like the "Terminator" theme music at the start with the sentinels. Blob's fun here and the Phoenix chasing Rogue cool. The episode's alright, doesn't seem necessary though, other than to know that the assassin's Mystique, who apparently raised Rogue or is brainwashing her, dunno.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past Part I (1993)
Days Of Future Past Part I
In Days of Future Past - Part I, a mutant security enforcement officer from a bleak future, named Bishop, comes back to present time to thwart an assassination in an attempt to change history for a better future.
It's a good interesting premise and plot here, with some creativity, be it just the first part. Enter Bishop, a likeable character, along with a new adversary sentinel in Nimrod. Jubilee's really grating with stating the obvious already though. Storm saves the day, a somewhat regular occurrence, but how often is Wolverine just brushed aside by whoever, when he's like the main X-Men character.
Friday Night Football: Thursday Night Football: Round 10 - Sir Doug Nicholls Round Week 1: Gold Coast vs Geelong (2024)
Gcs vs Geel, at TIO Stadium.
Humid and slippery, hardly football conditions. Many key outs for both sides; Cameron, Hawkins, Dangerfield, Duncan and De Koning for Geelong, Witts, Powell and Walter the Suns. Conway with a poor turnover across goal, turning into Lukosius kicking the opener for Gold Coast, Stengle soccers through the reply. Andrew with a poor turnover across goal for the Suns, resulting in a Cats goal. Lukosius marks and goals from the pocket, for his third. It's Geelong that leads by 3 at quarter-time though. Bruhn converts the set-shot, Geelong still without a blemish, despite the conditions. Gold Coast kicks away however, with 6 on the trot, out to a sizeable 33-point halftime lead. Stengle a good goal from 50 to give the Cats some life, but the Suns get the instant reply and kick further away, in a one-sided onslaught. Humphrey goals after the 3-quarter time siren, for his fourth, Gold Coast up 66. Both teams kick 7 goals apiece in the final term, the Suns home by 64 points. Gold Coast won the hit-outs, Geelong +4 in the clearances, the Suns though with significantly more of the footy and more effective disposal, while still applying 14 more tackles. Gold Coast with 17 more inside 50's, for 10 more scoring shots and had superb conversion. Rowell best afield, with 35 disposals, 8 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 10 tackles, 6 intercepts, 541 metres gained, 3 assists and a goal. Humphrey 16 disposals, 5 inside 50's, 5 tackles and a career-high 5 goals. Lukosius 16 disposals, 5 assists and 5 straight goals. Anderson 42 disposals, 37 effective, 6 inside 50's, 697 metres gained, 2 goals and an assist. Sexton 32 disposals, 6 inside 50's, 5 intercepts, 837 metres gained and an assist.
3. (Gcs) M. Rowell, 2. (Gcs) B. Humphrey, 1. (Gcs) J. Lukosius.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G5 - Mavericks vs Thunder (2024)
R2G5 - Mavs @ Thunder, May 15 2024.
The series tied at 2-2. Jones with two early 3's, including a Mavs 9-0 run. Dort just keeps shooting em... heh. Luka on song early too. Hardaway putting up bricks with Giddey on him, Dallas up 2 at the quarter break. Dort keeps trying to score and the Mavs go up double-digits. Doncic too good, Dallas up 10 at the half. The Mavs making the open 3's, Oklahoma missing. Doncic the contested step-back 3, Dallas up 12 going into the 4th. Luka en fuego, while Dort keeps thinking he's Ray Allen... Come on, man. The Mavs again save their challenge for another Gilgeous-Alexander dive, this time it's ridiculously not overturned. Jones with the block on a Holmgren 3-point attempt and the transition hoop. Dallas never challenged in this one, winning on the road to take a 3-2 series lead. The Mavs shot better from the field and 3, Oklahoma just 25% from deep. The Thunder took much better care of the ball, with just 6 turnovers, Dallas +13 on the boards. Doncic an efficient 31-point triple-double, 11 assists and 10 boards. Jones an efficient 19 points, 7 of 9 from the field, no turnovers. Lively 11 points and 10 boards off the bench. For Oklahoma, Gilgeous-Alexander 30 points, 8 assists, 6 boards and 2 steals.
3. (Dal) L. Doncic, 2. (Dal) D. Jones, 1. (Okc) S. G-Alexander.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G5 - Timberwolves vs Nuggets (2024)
R2G5 - Wolves @ Nuggets, May 14 2024.
Denver has pulled it back, now will they be the first team to win at home in this series. Conley out for the Timberwolves. Towns with a better start here, Jokic gets some soft calls early, the Nuggets up 2 at the quarter break. Minnesota have a slew of charge calls, Denver can't score either though. A lot of the turnovers by both teams unforced. Jokic the only one really making shots, the Nuggets up 6 at the half. Gobert certainly not displaying defensive player of the year impact. Gordon continuing to aggressively attack the rim with force. Minnesota hit the lead in the 3rd, but Denver quickly responds with a run and Jokic slaughters them late in the term, the Nuggets up 14 going into the 4th. Porter well contained, continuing on from last game, but Caldwell-Pope knocking down the 3-ball's. Denver gets it done comfortably, taking a 3-2 series lead, having won 3 on the trot. The Nuggets shot lights out, 55% from the field and 48% from 3, from just 19 attempts. Denver took better care of the ball and +5 on the boards. Jokic with an MVP super-efficient 40 points, 13 assists, 7 boards and 2 steals, with no turnovers. Caldwell-Pope an efficient 16 points, 4 of 5 from deep and 5 boards. Gordon 18 points, 5 assists and 10 boards, 5 offensive. For the Wolves, Gobert an efficient 18 points, 7 of 7 from the field, 11 boards, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Towns 23 points, 6 boards and 2 steals.
3. (Den) N. Jokic, 2. (Den) K. C-Pope, 1. (Den) A. Gordon.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G4 - Thunder vs Mavericks (2024)
R2G4 - Thunder @ Mavs, May 13 2024.
Dallas up 2-1. Dort picks up 2 cheap fouls and the Mavericks go up double-digits early and hold the Thunder to just 20 points in the 1st-term, up 10. Jalen Williams always challenges well at the rim, they'd be better served by Dort not jacking up 3's though. Oklahoma looking rattled, unable to find any easy offense. Holmgrem back to back blocks, retaining possession. Irving with the contested 3 to end the half, Dallas up 11. Have noticed Holmgren hasn't been given the ball to make a play once, he's a skillful difficult matchup, which can also open up the paint, I don't get it. Both teams struggling to score in the 3rd. The Mavs defense holding them in good stead. Another play where Gilgeous-Alexander goes into someone and takes a dive and the ref rewards him, a good challenge by Dallas though. The Mavs lead by just 4 however going into the 4th. Why does Dort keep shooting 3's, he's wide open for a reason, Gilgeous-Alexander keeping Oklahoma in touch. Holgrem hits the go ahead 3, the Thunder on a run. Dallas down 2 with the last possession, Doncic misses a free-throw and Holmgren doesn't. Oklahoma gets the win to even up the series, without being at their best. Neither team shot well, Dallas better from the field and 3, but poor from the line. The Thunder took better care of the ball, with just 7 turnovers, the Mavs +2 on the boards. Gilgeous-Alexander 34 points, 5 assists, 8 boards, 2 steals and 2 blocks, with no turnovers. Holmgren 18 points, 9 boards and 4 blocks, no turnovers. For the Mavericks, Washington 21 points and 12 boards, 4 offensive. Gafford 10 points, 8 boards and 3 blocks, no turnovers. Jones 17 points and 4 blocks.
3. (Okc) S. G-A, 2. (Okc) C. Holmgren, 1. (Dal) P. Washington.
When Time Ran Out... (1980)
Tired.
In When Time Ran Out, an active volcano threatens a south Pacific island resort and its guests as a power struggle ensues between the property's developer and a drilling foreman.
This one fails to engage the audience and is dull, despite the good cast. Similar to "The Poseidon Adventure," the film's strongest moments if any, are Newman with his drilling crew. The characters, dialogue and special effects are less than good, woeful to an extent. The antagonist's just soulless, without backstory. With people making poor decisions without reasoning, yeah I found the whole thing pretty sleep inducing.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G4 - Nuggets vs Timberwolves (2024)
R2G4 - Nuggets @ Wolves, May 12 2024.
Minnesota up 2-1. Edwards with a strong start, Towns though a poor start. The Wolves complaining a lot about getting fouled, haven't seen any. Denver goes on a 12-0 run and end the 1st-term up 5, Jokic getting it done. Holiday back to back 3's to start the 2nd and the Nuggets kick away with Jokic on the bench. Wow, Minnesota briefly going tower-tall with McDaniels at the two and he's a hell of a defender, 4-talls and Edwards. Jokic with the nice dime, then flushes it down the lane next trip. Caldwell-Pope with a big contested 3, a turnover leading to a Porter transition dunk and another turnover in which Murray knocks down the backcourt buzzer-beater to stop the Wolves comeback. A crazy finish to the half, unbelievable! Denver up 15. The Nuggets continue on in the 3rd. Gordon having a game too, 9 of 9 from the field. Edwards continues to keep Minnesota in range, Caldwell-Pope a nice block at the basket. Edwards cuts the deficit to 11 going into the 4th. The Nuggets manage to keep the Wolves at bay, despite Edwards, stopping the others. Denver gets it done, evening up the series, in a great game. Both teams shot well, the Nuggets lights out, 57% from the field. Both teams took care of the ball overall, despite Minnesota's blunders ending the half, the Wolves +11 on the boards. Gordon a very efficient 27 points, 11 of 12 from the field, 6 assists, 7 boards and 2 blocks. Jokic 35 points, 7 assists, 7 boards and 3 steals. Murray bigtime, with 19 points, 8 assists, 5 boards and 2 steals. For Minnesota, Edwards a super efficient 44 points, 5 assists, 5 boards and 2 steals. Conley 15 points and 9 assists, no turnovers.
3. (Min) A. Edwards, 2. (Den) A. Gordon, 1. (Den) N. Jokic.
The Last Stop in Yuma County (2023)
Could've been decent. Wasn't.
The Last Stop in Yuma County has a simple, proven premise and plot that works, but the subpar characterization and acting negate what there is to like about the film, add to that no backstory.
One the robbers for instance has his gun visibly hanging out his pants from the start, while they're trying to remain inconspicuous. The protagonist instead of just keeping his mouth shut, goes and decides to make it the problem of the waitress. Then you have the sheriff and deputy who for some reason seem like they're on the wrong set, misplaced out of a stupid comedy. It engages I guess, but pretty disappointing and forgettable in the end.
