Let There Be Light (2017)
GREAT Subject & Story
The Sorbos are just an admirable family and I'll support and enjoy anything they do.
Monumental: In Search of America's National Treasure (2012)
Wonderful history & eye-opener regarding the future of the U.S.
It's wonderful to be able to hear the TRUTH in history. We should all know how amazing our forefathers and founding fathers were. There is much that can be learned from history that impacts us even today. History does repeat itself and only fools don't learn from mistakes. EVERY Christian should see this film at least once. Even non-Christians should appreciate the history revealed within it and understand that morality is at the heart of survival. It's a much needed call to action for Americans. The future of our country and its inhabitants are at stake. There must be reformation or we will fall, as the mighty Roman Empire did.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
Best Picture of the Year!??
During the first half to two-thirds of the film, the characters were building, which left one to think this was really going someplace, albeit slowly. Other characters were then added in completely unnecessarily. What was the purpose of the complete waste of time Woody Harrelson!? There were ends left flopping in the breeze that you thought surely would tie down as some point, but never did. The storyline was all over the place. Although you know who kills the main character, the creators of this film didn't see fit to show or explain how that came about, which was an important part of the story. It felt strongly like that scene just wasn't included because it would have been too much trouble and/or expense which was cheesy and lame. Tommy Lee Jones, who you expect to be significant was rarely seen or heard from and was downgraded to some form of powerless hick dreamer. Josh Brolin is very nice to look at but didn't have much of a story to act. His character exhibited some semblance of intelligence but never looked for an electronic tracking device in the loot! The Spaniard, Javier Bardem (Anton) did a decent job of pulling off creepy and I'm sure we'll be seeing much more of him in America. The last scene made me scream - "This had better not be the end!" But alas, it was! I have passed the DVD on to friends, but felt the need to be apologetic when I did so. It is astounding that this film got the awards & recognition it did. This rates right up there with Lost in Translation, Eyes Wide Shut, and Monsters Ball. The voters must be pod people.
L'inchiesta (2006)
Worth the Purchase
If you enjoy Biblical film, you should enjoy this and add it to your collection. I'm not sorry I purchased it. Lundgren & Liotti are fabulous to look at and Monica Cruz is no slouch either (she looks just like her sister, Penelope).
The story-line is great. I wonder where the "Goofs" section is under "Fun Stuff" on IMDb, as this film was not devoid of them. For example, the rolling away of the massive stone at the tomb of Lazarus. It was done by one guy while another stood with a piece of lumber to assist by prying it but really did nothing, which would not have been possible. Some of the fight scenes just looked very badly done. There was a kiss scene wherein saliva strung from one person to another that would have been much more watchable had that been edited out. Finally, at the end, the terrain was striped by tire tracks and what looked like a radio tower on a mountain top.
Broken Bridges (2006)
Must Own!
This is a great family film. Anyone should be proud to add this to their personal DVD library. It is one of those rare films that leaves you wanting to see more at the end, sorry that it's over and wanting to know more about the lives of the interesting characters. The story line is extremely moving and tugs at the heart strings.
What a fabulous find - as there is much garbage out there. What great fun it is to share works of art such as this. I crave more films like this one and constantly search them out. Kudos to the creators! Thank you to the cast.
FYI - check out Toby Keith's I Love That Bar and Grill restaurant/bar in Bricktown/Oklahoma City. It's a fun place with great atmosphere, serving up terrific food & entertainment.
The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005)
Fabulous Golf Story From a Non-Golfer
I had no idea that Paxton was such a talented director and every one of the actors did a fabulous job.
This film is one I didn't hesitate to add to my library. It is one that I will definitely enjoy again in the future and share with my family and friends.
To those in Hollywood that think you cannot sell a film without sex, violence, and F-Word fillers, THINK AGAIN! This is what the majority of Americans want to spend their most precious commodity (time) and money on.
What a treasure find this film is!
A Woman of Independent Means (1995)
One of those lengthy films that you're sorry to see end.
This is a fabulous story depicting the lives of several people during one of the most interesting times in America. The star, Bess, is a strong woman that many other women can relate to as she struggles through the many challenges that life (& death) subject us to. She is not shown to be faultless, but rather normal, as people are. You get angry with her, love her, and cry with her, as well as the other characters. The sets, costumes, and acting are superb. We need more film made in this manner. I don't know how I missed it the when it was released in 1995 and just caught it on Lifetime in December of 2005. My mission will now be to try to find it on DVD.
