Dead Poets Society (1989)
One of Robin Willliams's finest performance
Dead Poets Society is an extraordinary movie that has a lot of meaning. When i watched this film, i found it unlike anything i had ever seen before, it shows you how one teacher can inspire and the change the life for A student, giving the confidence to find their path. I can say that when it comes to a great drama movie, Dead Poets Society should be on your 10 choices list. It may not have won the best picture Oscar, but most importantly, won the people's hearts.
Robin Williams plays an English teacher called John Keating, working in a very prestigious and strict school. He is new to the academy, and has different teaching methods that acquire the students fascination to the subject. No longer are they bored of English, but are dedicated to it, thanks to the teaching methods pf Williams. He teaches his students to stick with their individual beliefs and follow their individual passion. Seize the day.
I wish, i really wish that i had a teacher like John Keating!!
The Fisher King (1991)
Still amazing on a 4 inch screen
When i first rented this movie out, it was like an enchantment, even on a 4 inch screen. It was a tape but still, i felt the magic in the movie its self. But the Fisher King is more than a movie, it is a story of redemption, madness, guilt, sanity, poverty and love. In the movie, all these things come together. Jeff Bridges was always a well respected Hollywood actor. In the Fisher King, he plays a role a lot more different than the star man. He plays a radio talk show host Jack Lucas, a wild, arrogant radio DJ who's advice causes a man to assassinate seven people in a restaurant. Jack Lucas did this unintentionally, but as a result to that, he is now down and out in poverty. When almost killed by thugs, a insane homeless man (Robin Williams), saves Jack, and in the end turns out to be the husband of one of the restaurant victims. Parry (Robin Williams) has lost his sanity because of that. Jack feels so muck guilt that he wishes to help Parry meet with Lydia Sinclair ( the girl that Parry likes, played by Amanda Plummer), and help him find the one thing Parry treasures, the Holy Grail. The performances are incredible. Particualary Mercedes Rhuel, Robin Williams, Amanda Plummer, andJeff Bridges, they stole the show. This should be in the library of the top five fantasy dramas in Hollywood.
Being Human (1994)
yawn!!!
Well, lets see. aha ha, right, Being Human. Well lets start with saying that this was the most outrageously boring film in the entire world. I would rather eat popcorn staring at the wall at home. Robin Williams is my favorite actor, but this is my least favorite movie. It started so peaceful, the trailer was nice, the cover was interesting, but the movie was like walking through thick goo, it takes you ages to get through, and you are not comfortable. Now what a movie ay? If you want a story, read a book. There was not much music, practically no good effects or camera moves. Costumes were alright, the dialogue was good but tedious, and plus, no real excitement through the whole thing. Lets just say, it is a bit different hmm? The story is meaningfu but i would understand it more on a book. While you watch it, you don't concentrate on the movie but the things around you. You start counting your teeth, or the tiles on the floor. You bite your nails and do whatever you do when bored (e.g. eat). It is truly a movie for your home with a hot meal and while its raining. But, watch it anyway, it may be appealing to you, but no matter what happens, prepare for a sleepy adventure!!!!!
Good Will Hunting (1997)
Best motion picture!!!!!! Of every year
Hi, i am Sam Radseresht. When i first saw this movie, i thought it was the film with the most bad language in the universe. But then, i looked at it again and again. And in the end, it practically became an obsession. I admired Robin's character Sean so much that i even wanted to be a therapist. I put books all over my room, read them, and studied hard in school. The film was truly a strong inspiration to my life, and i do want to take the opportunity to thank Robin Williams, for making his character so believable and real. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck for writing their wonderful screenplay that consisted of so many beautiful words of knowledge. Gus van Sant for making it possible and my mum for buying it a our local Virgin. So, if you wan't a movie of speech, excitement and emotion, Godd Will Hunting is the best so far. Even if you may not be a fan of Matt, Ben, Robin or any other cast members, please do watch it for they certainly deserve a big applaud.
It is one of those movies that will catch and touch your heart. A sea of Emotion. And in the end, there is a message for us all, but that is for you to find out. It focuses on Will Hunting (Damon) and how his troublesome past has left him isolated and off his path. When he is mopping the floors of MIT tech (boston), a teacher recognizes his astonishing talent and works with his math studies. Problem is, Will does not want that, and the Maths teacher cant understand his problem. So, Sean Maguire (Robin Williams) teaches Will to not be afraid, and realize to not waste his talent but use it. Together, they discover their resolutions and reveal their secrets.
But what strikes me about this movie is everything. If i was to find one word to describe watching this movie,,,..... Impossible. It just takes quite a lot to describe it. When i watched it, there was one scene that was so emotional, i could feel goosebumps on my skin and water in my eyes. A heartening experience, powerful and remarkable acting. SEE IT NOW. IT IS MORE THAN A FILM!!!!!!
RV (2006)
Script is Great for the cast, horrible for Robin Williams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie was over estimated everywhere around the world. At first the idea seemed quite different and exaggerated. It was not a film that was any different from any other family movie. It was a disappointment to see the film drop the lists on the best movies ever made. Robin Williams, (an a grade actor) deserves a better script. From Robins talent, experience, comedy genius, he deserves a better role, not one that is suited for ameteurs. An Oscar winner should not waste his career like that. I would not call this movie dreadful, but i would not say it was great. It is one of those films that is in your mind for just one night but then all of a sudden will not be interesting the next morning. The humour was not different from any other movie, the comedy in it was extremely fake and exaggerated, Robin Williams, being my favourite actor, has widened his popualarity, but decreased the acting and comedic talent that everyone remembered. His classic hits such as "The World According to Garp", "mORK AND MINDY", "Good mornng Vietnam","Dead Poets Society", "The Fisher King", "Mrs. Doubtfire", "Jumanji", "Good Will Hunting" and Patch Adams, this is how we should remember the great Robin Williams. I fear that his career is going somewhere, but to a place that will hardly be remembered in 10 years. Robin Williams plays a father (Bob) who is having issues in work and in order to go to a business meeting in Colorado, he cancels the HAWAII TRIP and takes the family on an RV cruise (without them knowing that he is just doing this to get to a business meeting). Yes, the comedy comes in now, the usual breaking plates, toilet humour etc. The meet a redneck family, Gornickes, who drive them nuts because of their unusual generosity. Something to take your family to see. Nothing special, just another one of those films. I give it an 8/10 for its creativity and for Robin Williams, even though he deserves a better movie script, there were still laughs from kids in the theatres, the movie was popualar, but had a lack of talent from some professional actors.
