Screen Two: Persuasion (1995)
Superb Adaptation.
Easily the best screen version of a Jane Austen novel. Splendid in every way and well worth its high imdb rating. I dare you to watch it without shedding a tear. Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds are perfect as Anne and Wentworth, and the supporting cast are excellent. The 2007 version starring Sally Hawkins and Rupert Penty-Jones has its moments, but takes too many liberties with the script and some of the casting is weak. The less said about the disastrous 2022 version the better. This 1995 adaptation is the one to see
Btw, ignore the trailer and synosis above these reviews. Both are OTT nonsense!
Persuasion (2022)
Cringeworthy.
It's difficult to overstate just how bad this movie is. It may well be a form of entertainment, but Jane Austin's 'Persuasion' it ain't. Check out the 1995 or 2007 versions if you want to see something approaching what the novel is all about. This is just a silly, soulless mess.
Riverworld (2003)
Garbage
Don't waste your time. Life's too short.
If you enjoyed the novels, you will hate this nonsense. Take up knitting or crochet, or even fishing if you're really desperate.
Vaxxed II: The People's Truth (2019)
Nonsense.
Unfortunately it seems impossible to give a zero rating for this rubbish aimed at the hard of thinking.
The Man in the Hat (2020)
Wonderful.
If you don't love this film, you have no soul.
Nothing more needs saying.
Project Blue Book Exposed (2020)
Here we go again!
The usual 'Little Green Men' nonsense, aimed at gullible and weak-minded Conspiracy Theorists.
Dawson City: Frozen Time (2016)
A Missed Opportunity.
Fascinating story. Superb visuals. Poor, bordering on amateurish, editing. Mind numbingly, gut wrenchingly, awful soundtrack.
This could, and should, have been so much better. It's worth watching for the historical content, but you wouldn't ever want to sit through it again.
Loves Me, Loves Me Not (2019)
Seriously?
I hate these fake ratings. Use your common sense when reading these please.
Lost Girls and Love Hotels (2020)
Beware
...the usual highly suspect reviews. Search elsewhere for more honest opinions.
The Festival (2018)
Bad?
Well, it's not the worst film I've ever seen...but it's up there.
Great Expectations (2012)
Why bother?
Another worthy, but pointless, remake. Good cast, plodding script, competent but uninspired direction.
There are much better versions out there.
Irresistible (2020)
Don't believe the hate.
It's good to see genuine reviews appearing now to balance out the original orchestrated hate campaign.
This film is no masterpiece but it's funny and makes some good points about the American electoral system.
It's a solid 7/10.
You Were Never Really Here (2017)
Superb!
Reading through the reviews here, it looks as if a lot Transformers/Marvel Comic movie fans have been pitching in with poor reviews.
If you're a genuine movie fan with an attention span of more than five seconds, ignore them, This is a gut wrenching masterpiece.
Da hong zha (2018)
Fake Reviews!
Ignore them. This film is an embarrassing train wreck. IMDB should really be doing something to weed out this nonsense.
The Con Is On (2018)
Just Awful.
This is a complete train wreck of a movie. Great cast phoning in their performances, presumably for the money. It's taken three years since it was made for it to be released. They shouldn't have bothered.
