Mustang (2015)
Child abuse
Looking more deeply into the ratings on IMDb, I saw that women under 18, and women over 45 gave the film very high marks. The young idealist, and the older and more worldly and seasoned women that many say are divided on women's issues(?) - well perhaps many in these age groups understand the confusing and misleading dynamics better than others. Being from America, I believe the subtlety of the story addresses the unfortunate alienation between women and men that results in the increase of child exploitation - the kidnapping, entrapment and selling of young women and children, the proliferation of women and young men being used on the internet by people who desperately need help understanding their own sicknesses and their own self destruction in the face of their sickness, and NOT reaching out for help. Gender confusion is a global problem, and in this film it is gently exposed for what it is - confusion.
Tomorrowland (2015)
Great film - go see!
As a mature person, and after reading some of my favorite reviewers from some major websites and newspapers, etc. I feared going to see this might turn out to be a waste of my time, but I was wrong and so were some of the reviewers. I thought the film was like a modern day "Wizard of Oz"! Youthful and filled with what some sophisticates seem to consider a childish interest in optimism. (Oh please!) Thank you to the producers, director, actresses and actors, and all the behind the camera professionals - you did a great job. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and urge you go see it. It's Truth-filled. It has a young girl as a heroine who is not all sexed out or tough or dull eyed and boring. George Clooney is his wonderful self - and plays his part well -he is a joy to watch, and the young male lead does a great job in his part! Hugh is such a good actor, and he carries off his role with his usual expertise. Go see this simple - the future looks promising and can be if you feed the right wolf - film. You won't regret the experience and the uplift!

Wow - great acting all around!
Riveting performances by everyone involved, and the direction is excellent - it draws out the character's confusion and underlying attempts to find or heal with love/connection. There are moments of redemption and almost moments of forgiveness. The audience is helpless without faith in a higher being, because (once again) a wolf is alive in this picture - it's a disease that's trying to consume everyone. Not a pleasure to see anymore than so many of the recent and excellent stories released. This is a well written, well directed, well acted cautionary tale for those moments when we try to hide the truth with bravado and bullying, shaming, teasing, and defensiveness. Dr. Phil, please make a house call!
Peace, Love & Misunderstanding (2011)
Loved this wonderful comedy!
Yes, comedy! It's a refreshing look at the culture of the 60's and the cynicism of those who look back and try to make sense of all the facets of American society that were called into question during the period. The facets still exist! Out of it comes a funny portrayal of what the confusion/clarity looked like (looks like) as people worked it out, tried to love one another, and made mistakes, as only humans can...with great intentions all firing at once. Congratulations to the director, the cast, the writers, for this delightful romp. I laughed, learned humility, and relished the human comedy that we are, now, as we try to still (once again) Love over generational lines - adult to child, etc. God Bless you for the effort - I hope those who can relax, let go, without a toke, or with, can enjoy your message for what it is - human - very funny, sometimes just plain dumb. Please do not over intellectualize it, just enjoy the darn thing! This movie actually had a kind of "Doris Day" feel to it. Delightful and simple on the surface, but underneath, lots of some good messages about healing one another. I've read what some critics have said, and I wanna say, go to church, get over yourself, calm down, just enjoy the silliness of life, be reverent - be still. Kids do it and so should we, then we will hear each other!!!!
Morning Glory (2010)
Good movie
A fun movie, with good acting, many laughs, and unlike some of the silly write ups - it doesn't fall apart- it's good to the end. The audience was laughing. I was laughing. My friend, who didn't really want to see it, was laughing. The moral of the story is a real plus given the negative news of the day! God Bless everyone involved - thank you for your work. Geez, I have to have ten lines, okay. Well, to say a bit more...the lead is wonderful. Her comic timing is excellent. All the supporting actors were excellent. The story of a young woman working hard to make a position work is true to the generation of the 70's, 80's, 90's, and now 2000's. However, we so often see and hear about the whining, entitled bunch that seem to get so much attention, this film was refreshing.
Where the Wild Things Are (2009)
awful waste of time
I saw this with a friend and we both yawned and nodded and wished we could go home way before the main character got the picture. There really wasn't a character to like or love in this boring pic, and we don't understand why anyone liked it. Was there any moral to this story? It dragged on and on and actually I couldn't possibly write a spoiler, cause there was nothing really to reveal, and certainly nothing that I remember as something dynamic or interesting that someone searching comments might even be interested in. This movie seems to spoil its self, sorry to all who love it, interesting how we are all so different.
Amelia (2009)
Excellent
A tasteful, excellent film... way more than what some reviewers have said, well written, well acted, and thoroughly enjoyable. I'd recommend it for young women as a history lesson and story about what women have done in American history. And, I recommend it to all the women who have fought so hard for women's rights, and all the men who truly love women. Will someone please do movies on many of the other wonderful women of our history? And, follow the example of this film, please. Congratulations to everyone involved! I almost didn't go because of some of the silly reviews from people saying it was long, or the end was bad, or it was like a Discovery Ch. travel picture. Do these sad souls need a lot of cranky language and boring crashes just to feel like they've seen a movie, too many video games? This was beautiful and thoughtful... Thank you!
Knocked Up (2007)
awful; avoid being knocked up by a bad film.
i was very disappointed in this film as reviewers claimed something good and there was none, zero! i cannot think of one positive except it finally ends and magnificent quiet fills the space left by actors swearing, abusing each other, and us. save your money, tell everyone you know to do likewise and see something else. this film is classless, base, stupid, boring, dull, a total waste of time. I rarely have seen a film that was so bad that I felt compelled to post a warning to the general public to run in the opposite direction. I wanted to see it because I'd seen a few of the actors on late night shows and daytime shows where they promoted the sweetness that evolved in the story line. They went on and on with comments about depth. I find this totally hilarious in retrospect as "depth" as a description of the emotional emptiness of the characters in this film would be like someone describing insanity as the highest form of intellectual development. I was hoodwinked and hope you will not be likewise 'knocked up.'
